I had lost about all hope for my OG Switch. It's been through a lot since 2017, and most recently it's started to disconnect from joycons and other joycons alternatives, due to a frame issue/damage where the tracks have become warped and don't hold the cons correctly. But the Nitrodeck, has saved my switch. It feels great, it's solid, comfortable. I was worried about the reviews calling out the stick placement and difficulty removing the actual switch from the tech, but both are not issues for me. I've tested so far with pokemon, Zelda, Metroid prime, and rocket League and everything has been great. can't wait for the + model to start shipping, will definitely be getting it also.

Miss your old game gear? Well put your switch in this bad boy, fire up sonic mania, and enjoy a trip back to your childhood. I don't use the turbo function or the back buttons, but I dig the stand and the feel of it. No more hand cramps. Also protects the switch! And fits in my case. Relocates the power input to the back and it makes so much more sense if you charge while playing. This controller does not connect wirelessly, so you can't dock the switch and use this controller (maybe if you run a USB cable from the switch dock to the controller, but I haven't tried it) Beats the daylights out of the other two piece controller add-ons. I also tried the Hori split pads but they feel like I'm going to break them or my switch when they're on my console. DONT HESITATE, EMBRACE YOUR CHILDHOOD!

I’m leaving the four stars because for anyone but me, who has specific needs this can’t meet, it is a nicely built, beautiful little unit. I reached my “deal breaker” point. The haptic issues, and the “A” button not working, mostly because of the “play” a lot of travel is there, that seems to only affect that button. Since I am a one game user, this will not work with ACNH. I have hunted, and have decided upon a unit that will work with my existing Joy Cons. I may purchase new Joy cons as well. Again I have inadvertently joined the hunt and return cycle again. Sad, this is such a pretty unit.

My daughter sent me her near new Nintendo Switch, after a week, my hands cramped so bad, I couldn’t play. My main issue with this thing are the haptics. The vibration on the lowest is really crass, interrupt your thoughts, loud! Ok. I’m not a gamer, I started playing back in the 80s with the original Gameboy, I had never laid eyes on the Switch until it arrived on my porch three weeks ago. The only game I have is Animal Crossing, it will probably be the only game I will be playing, simply because this fixed income grandma can’t dump money on games. That being said, one week in, and my hands were cramped to the max, painful. After searching for weeks, I landed on this Nitro Deck, two things sold me, the retro look, color, and the Hall Joy sticks.

Now, since Animal Crossing is only game I will be playing, the biggest issue is fishing, since I just fired the game up today, my only source of income in the game is fishing. Enter the problem. The stock Joy Cons that came with the deck are extremely good at letting you know if a fish is hitting the bait, a short Bzt, or biting the bait, a longer, firmer BZZZT! With this unit, there is no difference in those two vibrations, causing me to miss 85% of the fish! I’m working with it, but it may go back for that reason alone. I do not want start the cycle of trying something & returning, until I get lucky enough to get something better than this. I don’t see that happening yet. But I was really irritated the first time I tried the game to see, feel & hear these ghastly haptics.

Connecting was touchy, simply because when you switch the Switch’s settings to allow it to connect up to this, the setting did not stay on, you don’t know this until you get zero response, making you take in back out, (it doesn’t come out easy) making sure that setting is correct, after several attempts, I then learned the old Joy Cons were not turned off. So if you are a newby to this whole thing, there was nothing in the directions about turning these off. So back I went to Google it. Finally I was able to play. This weighs over a pound, and then some.

I turned off all the back switches, my fingers constantly hit them. The charge port is in a nice location for play while plugged. I could not, under any circumstances, get it to connect to my computer, I hope I won’t be needing that down the road.

This sucks battery power. Plain and simple. I can play twice as long with the stock Joy Cons.

The Joy sticks are much too high for me to use without extra shake. Almost double the height of the standard Joy Cons.

The buttons are HUGE, and real clicky noisy, it makes the unit feel cheap. I say FEEL, this is not a cheap feeling device, it is very well made, with some extra heft to it. The “A” button doesn’t always work, another reason it could go back. You are selling in the in game market, only to find out half your resources did not sell because the “A” button did not function. That’s going to be a deal breaker if it keeps up.

I have large hands, this is more comfortable than the regular Joy Cons, but it is rather slippery. The cramps in my hands are being aliviated, It’s biggest redeeming quality, but the hype over this device is completely over blown.

“A” button doesn’t work correctly
Sucks battery power
Joy Stick is twice as high as standard Joy Cons causing issues in play. Swinging too easily the wrong way.

Absolutely phenomenal! Bloys joycons out of the water. The Hall Effect trigger and thumbsticks feel soooooo good after using the cheap feeling sticks on a pair of joycons. Plus this has the rumble and gyro/motion features built in as well while being $25 cheaper than a pair of joycons. If you don’t have a Nitro Deck you need to buy one ASAP! CRKD went crazy with this one!!!!

 UPDATE: the replacement came early, wasn’t new, and didn’t work.

. The first was clearly in new packaging. This one looked slightly worse than the one i personally repackaged a couple days ago. I’m mildly convinced it’s the exact same one, just shuffled by an Amazon employee. It absolutely was not new. So yeah expect any model that’s not the newest or on discount to be repackaged & shipped with no quality control.
Don’t buy from this company. They’ve only been around a year, and don’t seem to mind lying to every OLED purchaser.

Wish I could give zero stars.

This is an extremely disappointing review to write. I loved this thing all 4 days it worked, & upon researching feel extremely deceived by the company.

Apparently it’s VERY common for this thing to simply stop connecting to the OLED Models, possibly damaging your switch in the process.

Their troubleshooting does nothing, and their ultimate stance seems to be that the OLED is faulty whenever this happens.

What seems more likely is
1) they don’t quality test the NitroDeck on the OLED beyond seeing if it still fit
2) they would rather OLED owners buy this thing & lapse their return window.
3) the returned ones seem to be shipped out again with no testing or cleaning cuz they’re just waiting for someone to keep it too long.

This will probably run fine on a base model switch. But the Jank of this situation has me worried that it’s destined to be a short lived & potentially damaging deck… no matter what.

I NEVER use Amazon’s return system cuz I hate it. I will be for this. Because there’s no easy way to simply refund I’m getting a replacement. But looking at the discourse I don’t expect much better when it gets here in OVER A WEEK.

Absolutely devastating that I have to go back to joycon. Replacement determines if this becomes a 1 star review or not…
