    MECHANICAL MEMBRANE KEYS

In-between the Chroma and the Domination, the Lightning offers hybrid keys: mechanical membranes.

These keys allow you to enjoy all the responsiveness of a true mechanical keyboard. However, compared to a traditional mechanical keyboard, the Lightning avoids many drawbacks.

It allows for perfectly silent and resistance-less keystrokes. This keyboard is a perfect compromise for gamers looking for performance with an affordable cost tag.

    7-COLORS BACKLIGHTING

With the KLIM Lightning, you can press a single button in order to switch the backlight color amongst 7 different choices.

You don’t need to install any driver of software, this is very convenient to embellish your desktop according to your desires.

The Lightning also features a breathing effect that allows you to change the colors automatically, you will never get bored.

    STABLE & DURABLE

Weighting a bit more than a kilogram, the KLIM Lightning is a real tank. We built it in order to ensure a perfect stability on your desktop.

You won’t have any shaking issue when you are playing and it will stay perfectly in place.

Even if you make it fall on the ground by accident, it is very unlikely it will break down.

A solid backlit keyboard in an easily gift-able price
    4 Stars
A solid backlit keyboard in an easily gift-able price
Packaging: - The keyboard is packaged well, it came nicely boxed with a key puller, a fancy envelope with a cute 'thank you', and some stickers.Hardware: - It's got a good weight to it, but the look is provided by the thin metal surrounding the sides. It's a very aggressive look, but not cheap-feeling, and none of the edges are sharp or uncomfortable in use. The visible screws are an interesting touch. The logo print is clean and good looking. - I did try to use the keypuller to see what's under the keys, but found it's too small... - My 'lock' indicator at the top right of the keyboard was mounted upside down. The picture I've included has 'numlock' and 'capslock' engaged, even though the 'scrolllock' is lit. This didn't affect usability at all, but was kind of interesting. - The phone holder at the top of the keyboard hides the bottom 1/3 of my iPhone SE when I've got it in place. I can clearly see my notifications, though, so I think it serves its purpose.Installation : - I struggled with plugging it in for a moment before looking at the plug -- the metal plug had caved in slightly, just enough to stop me. So I took a house key and gently flattened it back into shape. I wouldn't think that's a common issue, but worth mentioning. - Once plugged in, Windows discovered it easily, and it appears everything is hard-coded into the device. No software in the box or instructions to download, but everything just kinda works. - The default function keys worked perfectly and immediately. The 'lock' button seems to just lock the keyboard entirely, which is a neat feature, but not equivalent to Windows' built-in lock (Win+L).Lighting: - Good colors, bright and clean. Blue, Red, Green, Purple, Yellow, Light blue, White. The light itself is bright and clean, and pretty evenly distributed under the keys. The function keys to change brightness do so in reasonable steps. - I have pretty sensitive hearing and live in a really quiet environment, so I do hear a little high-pitched circuit whine when the LEDs are on. I have experienced this before with a few LED-heavy products around this price-range, and it's only noticeable if it's dead quiet in the house (mine is often, but I live in the middle of nowhere, so, take that with a grain of salt). Just something to consider if you have very sensitive hearing.Typing Experience: - This is the first time I've used a 'semi-mechanical' keyboard and appears to simply mean every key has a singular stiff membrane dome underneath. This does give it a satisfying tactile bump, however, and definitely closer to an MX Brown than similarly priced baseline membrane keyboards. I use a mechanical keyboard for the most part, and this doesn't feel too soft by comparison. I don't *prefer* it to tactile bump keyswitches, but it has a pretty satisfying "clunk" into place. - Keys are easy to read and pretty standard, everything is mostly where you'd expect. - It's worth knowing that the "|" and "\" character key is to the left of the enter key, rather than above it. This was a little jarring to discover by accident. I'm not personally a fan, but it took just a couple good hours of typing to forget about. Just a little extra reach when hitting the return and you're good.Overall: - If you're looking for a backlit keyboard with some good typing feel in the price range, it's hard to find any reason not to pick this one. It'd be a great gift to accessorize someone's first gaming PC and a nice option to keep on hand if you lug your machine to LANs.

I really wish there was a way to award this more than 5 stars! I had previously ordered the Azio Vision Backlit keyboard and had to return it because the keystroke feel was so plasticy and cheap feeling. A real shame, because otherwise it was a nice product. This has a quality feel and level of fit and finish that you'd NEVER expect from a product being offered for less that $30. The lighting is bright and beautiful offering seven gorgeous colors fully adjustable for brightness. The keys offer just the right amount of tactile feedback and a soft, but clear and solid sound when you press them. Not as loud as a purely mechanical keyboard but not silent. It's nice to get a little audible feedback from a keypress. The keys themselves are beautifully shaped and allow you to really fly as you type. The unit itself is very obviously of extremely high quality with a nicely machined piece of metal with no dangerously sharp edges. I really couldn't be any happier. Kudos to the folks behind this amazing product! I hear they're a small start-up company. If they continue to put out products like this, they're going to get very big in a very short time.

    Best keyboard ever!
    Doesn't need any driver... plug-n-play!
The lighting makes me really happy, and I can see the keys in my office when it's dark!
Their customer service is absolutely amazing! I had a small issue, but they helped me right away!!
I couldnt be more happy with this!
At first, I purchased a Logitech keyboard... but when it arrived I realized I needed to download something from logitech, and on my work computer I didnt have admin rights, so I was unable to use it. So the search was back on to find a quality lighted keyboard that didnt need anything dowloaded, and I ultimately chose this one!
The keys are high, but the keyboard I had prior was low profile keys (so I was very used to lower keys)... the keys on this keyboard feel very nice on my fingers, and make a really neat sound upon typing! It's definitely not quiet, but I like the sound they make!
You can change the colors if you want with pressing keys, but I haven't tried it yet.
I would highly recommend this keyboard because it's awesome..
And also the people who make this keyboard actually really care about their customers, and want to male them happy!! Thats really hard to find sometimes!!

    Packaging:
    - The keyboard is packaged well, it came nicely boxed with a key puller, a fancy envelope with a cute 'thank you', and some stickers.

    Hardware:
    - It's got a good weight to it, but the look is provided by the thin metal surrounding the sides.
I can clearly see my notifications, though, so I think it serves its purpose.
    Installation :
    - I struggled with plugging it in for a moment before looking at the plug -- the metal plug had caved in slightly, just enough to stop me.
The 'lock' button seems to just lock the keyboard entirely, which is a neat feature, but not equivalent to Windows' built-in lock (Win+L).

    Lighting:
    - Good colors, bright and clean.
Just something to consider if you have very sensitive hearing.

    Typing Experience:
    - This is the first time I've used a 'semi-mechanical' keyboard and appears to simply mean every key has a singular stiff membrane dome underneath.
Just a little extra reach when hitting the return and you're good.

    Overall:
    - If you're looking for a backlit keyboard with some good typing feel in the price range, it's hard to find any reason not to pick this one. It'd be a great gift to accessorize someone's first gaming PC and a nice option to keep on hand if you lug your machine to LANs.

So far, no cons for this keyboard, been using for about 2 months now. I use it for work, not gaming, so I'm using it at least 40 hrs/ week, but still appreciate it's features.
Numerous backlight modes, & well lit overall. While it doesn't have super quiet keys, they are still quieter than a traditional keyboard. Much easier to clean & includes a key removing tool.
Overall build quality feels solid w/ the metal frame. Touch response is good. I don't use the built in cell phone holding slot at the top, but it can double as a handle to move the keyboard around if need be.
I will say the one bit of adjustment I needed was the keyboard height, cuz this isn't exactly low profile, & the keys sit a bit higher than I was used to. Granted, this makes the lighting more effective & cleaning much easier. But unless you have larger hands, I'd recommend you consider a keyboard- length wrist support to go with this, which is what I did. Highly recommend this keyboard, especially at it's price point!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly suggested as an economical option to the industry

I was not expecting a lot when I had gotten the keyboard. I wanted something to plug into my laptop and work. The keyboard looked neat, so what the heck right? Have to say that I am impressed on different levels. Here is my journey with this product to help you decide if you want to dive in like I did.

There were a few options on the top of the list for me. I wanted something cheaper, and something that I could use for gaming. The two things that drew me in where that the reviews present didn't have anything nasty to say about keys not working, or what not. They were fairly good reviews all around for a more economical offering to the gaming industry. The other thing that got me is that this is a Canadian product. Cool. So let's support my own country..., and paid for.

Soon after the purchase I was contacted by the company with a personal message that was neat, a nice touch, and it was actually funny. Still had not received the keyboard, but I already felt that with that personal touch I had gone in the right direction. I think that more companies should aim for that personal touch more. Once I had gotten the keyboard, I had unpacked it and it was not what I had expected. I thought it was still cool though because it was different.

The standard keyboard that we are all more or less used to is pretty much a controller board with the keys plugged in and an often plastic outer shell clam shelled into place to protect the controller board (Not the official terms but I am sure you can understand what I am talking about). In this case, they had that controller board set up with a backing, and a metal top and the keys secured into place from there. The metal top of the keyboard is of a different design from what some might be used to, and the left and right sides of the keyboard stick out slightly making it slightly wider than your standard keyboard. For me none of this is an issue. The keyboard can be propped up slightly, isn't sliding everywhere. I just have to rejig the setup of how close the mouse is and done. Looks unique at the end of the day and not like every other keyboard out there, and for me that is pretty cool.

As for the keys, the 'semi-mechanical' side of the house works well for me. The keys take very very slightly more pressure than what I am used to, and it took getting used to having the slim enter key instead of the elongated one. All around the typing is fine and it is quiet enough so my wife does not complain about the clickity click click. The keyboard lighting works, and some might be up in arms about the fact that the lighting is more in the center of the keyboard than the the function keys, but if that is all you have on this keyboard, then that isn't too bad. I find that since I use the center of the keyboard for gaming more than the function keys, it works for me.

All around, this keyboard looks and feels sturdy. The keys feel nice, and typing does not feel unnatural or like a chore. It is lit which is cool, and has this neat and unique metal top plate design that I find different so it's not the same keyboard as what everyone else is sporting. The company does the whole personal touch thing and is amusing in their communication (At least they were to me). More importantly, as a very economical option for a gaming keyboard, it works stupendously well. Why spend over $100 when you can get this at a fraction of the cost and buy a new game instead with that extra money. I would suggest this keyboard to anyone and will buy another one easily to support this awesome company if this one blows up for some alien invasion related disaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing value for top quality blows my other illuminated gaming keyboard out of the water.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 16, 2020
I have had this keyboard for a week now.

It is relatively quiet, in fact the keys are very quiet with a slight soft impact sound when they spring back up after being pressed down EXCEPT for one key which is considerably noisy...The Space Bar. When this space bar springs back up after being pressed it has a much louder impact sound and being the most common key, this is can potentially be an annoying repetitive sound to neighbouring colleagues/family.

But in terms of feel and comfort, this keyboard feels so lovely, the keys have a sensual tactile feel and curvature and the whole thing just has an air of quality to it.

The weight of this keyboard is a whole 1kg and the heftiness is very re-assuring when I either type or play games. It would take a lot of rage while perhaps trying and failing QTE (Quick Time Events) in Tomb Raider to budge this keyboard. The metal frame has a steampunk aura about it and I absolutely love that. It's hands down the coolest keyboard I have ever owned. Many gaming keyboards look garish or too techy but this is so cool.

Prior to this, I had purchased an illuminated keyboard, Rii RK100 and comparing this to that, the higher quality of KLIM Lightning is considerably obvious. I've already mentioned KLIM's rock solid metal frame whereas the RK100 was bendable. The RK100 was sloppily spray painted over the whole keyboard in one go as you could see the spray paint on the keyboard base between all the keys which looked pretty ugly. NOT the case here. The keys are clearly individually painted before mounted onto the board, so the base is clean revealing a lovely lit interior.

Basically if KLIM and RK100 were in a boxing ring, KLIM wins by a knockout in the second round.

I bought this keyboard mainly for it's illumination of keys, not for looks but because I like to type and play games in the dark and I hate having a desk lamp to illuminate my "dark" keyboards.

The illumination is excellent, and I Iove the choice of 7 colours. I find that the colour that really punches the clarity of the characters is the yellow lighting (or it could be a very light green). One drawback with all illuminated keyboards is that upper rows have a striped shadow on them so the symbols on the numbers row can be hard to make out. But the yellow light helps to identify them a little more than the other lighting modes. There is a breathing mode which cycles through all the colours but that's not my cup of tea. The lighting can also be set at five levels of brightness. I have it set at third level of brightness. All the lighting adjustments are done with simple key presses.

Gaming-wise, I have played Shadows of the Tomb Raider, Mass Effect 3 and Quantum Break with this keyboard so far. It feels great. I feel no lag and multiple key presses feel very responsive with no missed presses. Excellent.

If I have one gripe, it is that the bottom row feels a tad high. On closer inspection I realise that the keyboard has a slight "bowl" shape so that the bottom row of keys are raised slightly higher than the row above and that row above is raised slightly higher than the middle row which is the lowest seated row, then the upper rows step upwards in height again. The surface of all the keys curve towards that middle row. An interesting design that actually gives it elegance but I feel it is at the sacrifice of achieving maximum comfort. I must stress however, that I don't feel any discomfort but I think I would have felt more comfortable with the keys more levelled.

The keyboard has the standard flip out legs to tilt the keyboard but because of the bottom rows elevated design, I would have appreciated higher tilt leverage. But as I say this really is my only gripe. It doesn't hamper my typing significantly as I type this review but I just simply feel the comfort could have been slightly compromised with this design. But this depends on how far away you have the keyboard from your body. I tend to have my keyboard quite away from me as I type. If you tend to have keyboards closer to you then this might be a non-issue for you.

One more thing I absolutely appreciate, is that this keyboard is a genuine British PHYSICAL layout keyboard. There are way too many keyboards that claim to be "UK layout" but in actuality what you find is an American PHYSICAL layout with British labelling on the keys, which is naughty mismarketing in my book. This is important. As the American physical layout keyboard has a small one row height ENTER key with the hash key above it. The British physical keyboard has a bigger two rows height ENTER key. I am happy to confirm this is a genuine British physical keyboard so you are guaranteed to hit that ENTER key and not the hash key, if of course you are used to typing on British physical layout keyboard.

Normally I don't talk about the presentation of packaging but I have to make an exception here. KLIM, as they have advertised in their promotional video, are a young company in France started in 2015. But they are also the funniest company I have ever bought tech from. As I open the product box, the quality of packing has a loving care to it, with a silver embossed thick black envelope containing some nice stickers...and a note. The note is hilarious. It begins with a standard hope of my enjoying the product but then it continues to describe how my order was specifically treated throughout it's whole journey and as I continued to read...it got crazier and crazier until my sides were splitting with laughter. I won't spoil it, if you are going to buy this keyboard, just make sure to read the note and enjoy a bonus experience.

So this company has wit and a mischievous one at that. That certainly stunted me as it's not exactly a factor I ever imagined to be a consideration for a keyboard and of course it still isn't but I sure like their persona!

Oh and they give a five year warranty...so they have wacky wit, presentation and confidence.

Of course they need to have good products and apart from my gripe on the curvature design, this keyboard impresses me no end at such an affordable price (I bought this for £30 but it feels like a £50-£60 product) and I hope KLIM are there to stay.

I give this a 4.5/5 which I will round up to five stars. Highly recommended.

Sturdy, and quiet. The keys make a barely audible sound on depression, but a slightly louder one on release. The metal face plate seems to serve as a dampener. The keyboard is pretty tall, as there's a plastic housing beneath the metal face plate, which includes two foot-stands for adjusting the angle.
I like the simplicity of this backlit keyboard, though I would have preferred the FN key to be on the left of the spacebar, on the same side of the keyboard as the volume functions (F2-F4) as I use those the most and it's silly to require two hands to do so.
