PROS:
-The color reproduction is wonderful. True 8-bit color depth per pixel. Colors appear vibrant, yet remain natural looking.
-Contrast is excellent. When the screen is filled with highlights, mid-tones and shadows - the highlights appear bright, and the darks appear dark. Nothing is washed out
-The screen can get very, very bright. Excellent for brightly lit rooms. Can be set to much lower brightness levels if you require - without losing any contrast or color value.
-2560x1440 resolution is perfect for a monitor size such as this (25"). An inch smaller might make for text that is too small to read (at standard PPI settings). An inch larger might make for a PPI value that's not quite as sharp. At 25", however, the pixel density is great.
-Has DisplayPort, HDMI and dual link DVI input connectors. Automatically displays at native 2560x1440 resolution via DisplayPort and DL DVI connections with zero hassle. I have not tested the HDMI connection yet, but I imagine it will have no issues.
-Built in speakers. I've tested the speakers with the sound pumped through the DIsplayPort cable, and it works fine. I consider built-in speakers to simply be a "plus" for flat panel displays, so I could never rate a display based on the quality of its built-in speakers. Built-in speakers are a simple nonessential convenience for me for when I'm, say, in-between audio systems and I absolutely need to hear something on a whim.
-Tons of options in the monitor OSD. Controls include: brightness, contrast, blue-light adjustment (eyeball saver technology, basically), color temp selection, saturation and hue control for RGB, as well as CMYK, gamma selection (2.2 or 1.8), sRGB mode, "super sharpness" (don't use that lol), image scaling settings (for non-native resolution input), full DDC/CI functionality, auto-contrast options, and more.
-And yes, this monitor has OVERDRIVE support for any interested.
CONS:
-None to speak of, honestly.
OTHER THOUGHTS:
-If you're looking for excellent audio quality, then you must be lost. Because this is the FLAT PANEL DISPLAY section of the building. Do yourself a favor and find your way to the nearest exit and ask someone for directions to the AUDIO EQUIPMENT section, because quality audio can be found there, where it belongs.
-IPS glow, which is inherent to most IPS displays, might bug some. It's only sort of visible when the monitor backlight is on and there is nothing being displayed on the screen, or in pitch black game/movie scenes. It's really TRULY only visible, though, if you're actively up and moving from side to side during the previously mentioned pitch black scenes - but the colors aren't affected at all. They remain perfect no matter the angle you're at. In most situations, however, there is no IPS glow. Like I said, I was freaked out about IPS glow before I bought this, but it simply sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. It's basically a non-issue.
-Don't mistake IPS glow for "light bleed", as I've seen some do here in the reviews. There is no backlight bleed here.
-The stand is your typical, proprietary sort of situation. It only allows for tilt backward or forward; no swivel or height adjustments. This is typical of the majority of flat panel displays out there. This can't be considered a negative, however, because the stand adjustment capabilities are clearly noted in the product descriptions here and on the manufacturer website. For those interested - you CAN buy an adapter for Acer monitors (this model included) that gives the monitor VESA mount style capabilities. It runs for about $30 from what I've seen.
-Mine was a refurbished model. I saved a good amount of money, and got an item that is perfectly equal to brand new. Came in factory box, sealed with factory protective materials, included all the accessories it was supposed to: stand, DVI and HDMI cables, power brick and cord, printed documents.
-Has zero dead/stuck pixels.
1. I wanted to upgrade from my 1080p setup
2. I wanted a high resolution, IPS display for photo and video work
3. I did not want to dish out double the price for the same resolution
4. I wanted something I could do lite gaming with, but nothing hardcore
Now here is my review of the Acer G257HU
Pros:
+ No dead pixels as many have stated
+ High resolution with vivid colors
+ Very small seamless bezels (no plastic cover), makes it easy to put multiple monitors next to each other for widescreen work. With the almost matte finish on the bezels you will never know they are there
+ Blue correction. Something not a lot of people mentioned but you can tune the monitor to take out the "blue light" for late night work and helping you sleep
+ IPS display means nice clear, crisp colors.
+ Price, beats the pants off every other monitor on the market for what you get with it
+ Perfect screen size. I have found mointors 25" and above take up space and are harder to see in full view. This size you get the high resolution fully within clear view. The big 50" screens you have to look around the screen to actually notice everything.
Cons:
- MINOR screen tearing. If you cap your FPS to 60 you will not have an issue. I also do not notice much tearing
- Provided cables are horrible. I used the DVI-D cable provided and kept having connection issues. As soon as I switched to a DVI-D cable I had laying around...no issues what so ever
- Slightly wobbly stand but nothing to the level people have complained about. I have NEVER seen it wobble while typing, writing or leaning on my desk. Some people seem to have done a review where they act like it is an earthquake 24/7
- No VESA mount. I used to but do not currently use a VESA mount. There is a company that makes an adapter for this monitor to use it, I have not bought one so I cannot provide feedback on it. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01771Q6U2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=XNZBFT4TPZF&coliid=I1D98J0MKT90X1&psc=1
- Monitor speaker sound hollow. But I use high quality speakers so I really could not care less about its quality
- Slow startup time. Just nitpicking but I have a 1080p for just internet surfing and it starts up 5x faster. But it really is not a killer factor. I have never met a person that needs a monitor to start up quickly.
Wrap Up
Definitely well worth the $260, if you can get it for a lower price then DO NOT PASS IT UP. I am extremely happy with the one I have and someday I will pick up another (or as soon as I see it on sale)
I use this to play games, and I will also note I've had no problems with ghosting or response times. I've even managed to crank up the monitor to a stable 81 Hz refresh rate, so that was a great bonus. I had no problems connecting it to a current generation video card (R9 390). Some have complained about the speakers it comes with. Frankly, it sounds the same as the speakers that come with any TV or monitor. That is to say, mediocre, but perfectly acceptable to watch Netflix with. I think most people buy their own speakers or a nice pair of headphones for their monitors anyway.
The one complaint other users have had that I will validate is the stand. It's rather flimsy feeling. Every time I go to turn the monitor on, there is a button on the bottom of the screen you need to press. If I don't also put a finger on the top of the screen to stabilize it, it will wobble a bit when I press any of the buttons on the bottom. I'm a bit concerned the monitor will outlive the stand (partially because it seems like such a great monitor that I see no need to replace it in the next 5 or more years), and I'm not quite sure what to do about that.
Overall, I think this is the best buy-in value you can make for a 1440p monitor. The only things I would change is giving it a different stand and maybe free-sync.

Un gesto muy agradable de Acer es que te integra todos los cables para tener la mejor conectividad y al igual que el monitor son de excelente calidad.
You get great performance at a budget. Also, comes with every type of cable it supports.
