Very easy to setup and install
Hello Fellow Blink Users: I will go straight to what i have to say. 1/This is a 3rd generation outdoor Blink video-cam. The 4th one just got a release date of 2023. 2/Tools supplied - i just appreciate that anything i needed to make this installation happen is all in the package, except the Sync Module 2 [needed, and also cited on the description] but i already have a Module 2 from my door bell. The sticker film [film that protects it from fingerprints] has instructions on it. It came with Energizer batteries [supplied], the mounting stuff and screws are also supplied. 2/ Battery life - i have read that while it is promised a 2-year, of course it all depends on the weathering of this, some said it lasts 6 months, so be open to what we cant' control, that is the weather. 3/Ladder and access, after reading a review where the user had to remove the protective film or replace the batteries, keep in mind that your placement should be where you can easily reach it but far where someone can just snatch it [coming from one who doesn't have fence]. Also, since this is only for deterrence, ensure that you will have face detection type of distance. 4/ the ball rotating mount - my first concern was if this tilts, what angle of coverage it has etc. I was very happy that the mounting arm has a ball type, so literally we tried rotating it to that perfect angle. We just installed it so i can't give it 5 stars yet. but so far, it's very easy to install. 5/ Customer Support -was knowledgeable. Here's what i found out so hoping this will save you time. Q1- If i have a mix of generations ex] 1st Gen indoor video cam, will sync module 1 be compatible with 3rd Gen video-cams? A1: Yes. Q2 If i have Module 1 and 2 - would you suggest that i undo Module 1 and use a newer Module 2? A2-you can retain using module 1 for the "indoor" as it is setup now and use Module 2 for "outdoor". Overall, 1st or 3rd gen can use Module 1, the video-cams should automatically sync to either modules. Q3-does this mean, i can use both and setup 2 systems, ex] Module 1 as indoor system and module 2 as outdoor system? A3 -yes.
Thank you for your feedback

I bought a bunch of these years ago. Cloud storage used to be free but not anymore. Blink was nice enough to not charge us old-timers and grandfathered us in. They don't have much range but they were sturdy, had good night vision and sensitivity, and the quality control was great. Not one defective one in the bunch. One of them finally did fail (after about three years so I can't complain about it. ) So I replaced it when they went on sale for Black Friday. This one had no night vision at all so I returned it right away. They would only refund me and not replace it... so since the sale was over I had to pay more for another one because they sent me a defective one in the first place. So okay, not fair but I went ahead and paid more to replace it. This one works but the night vision is far inferior to the old ones. I'm beginning to think it won't last like they are doing either. Oh well. If it doesn't last then I will assume they are cutting costs and the quality control is going downhill. this will be my last one and I will have to install something else.
Edit: The second one connected well and DID show an image both in good light and bad. BUT the image was vastly inferior to the old cameras. This one started out well but after a few days only showed black and white in the daytime and a very fuzzy image at night so I sent it back. The process for sending these back is time consuming. They make you watch a video first. Which I did although I have set these cameras up for years and didn't need to. Then they would not let me exchange this camera for another one. Which is fine. I really didn't want to try again anyway.
They have almost certainly gone down in quality and after two tries I doubt I can get one that works as well as the old ones did. I will continue to use the old cameras until they wear out though. They are pretty good and since I got them so long ago the cloud service is free.

EDIT
It occurred to me that maybe the new camera wasn't working as well as the old ones did was because I was trying to use it with the old generation 2 module. I decided to try one more time and this time I got a generation 3 module to pair it with. DUH. Problem solved! The cameras work great now and they are still grandfathered in. Thanks Blink!

I love the Blink outdoor wireless camera system. I had some trouble with family starting trouble at my house so I had to get these cameras to help protect my home and the people in it.

What I love about the Blink Cameras is they are on point at letting you know if something is near your camera. Whether it be an animal or a person walking up to your house. They are easy to use and save photos or videos for a later time within the app. I've had these for over a year and I couldn't be happier with them. They are safe to be in the weather and have given me NO problems at all. The Blink cameras do provide video and still shots.

One thing I would recommend is buying some small solar panels to put up so that the batteries in the camera won't die. The batteries they provide won't last long depending on how much traffic you have in and out of your house. The only con I have right now is the batteries not holding up for that long.

I do recommend these cameras for added protection around your home whether your home or away from home.

We purchased this Blink to add onto to our existing Blink camera system. To keep it short, the Blink Outdoor camera is probably the most valuable and versatile security camera out on the market now, the price point is reasonable given some of our cameras that has been used for 3 years are still running smoothly. Easy to install (idiot proof), and wireless option gives a lot of flexibility on camera placement.
*The camera is small light weight, sleek looking, and not conspicuous (w/o mount). The construct of the mount provided in the box is okay (anyone walk by can snatch the camera off from the mount), but for those who don't like drilling holes on the wall: this camera can easily be velcro strapped on other place (i.e. cabinet door handle, railing, eaves) given this camera is light weight; the square shape also makes it easy to be mounted "creatively". Just make sure to mount it high enough to avoid people from stealing it.
*Image/audio quality: okay, good enough to capture good video with recognizable sound.
*Motion sensor: Robust, not too sensitive but good enough when someone walk by the camera under the default setting "5". We have other camera system before and they were way too sensitive that even moving grasses or clouds would trigger the camera. Note that the motion sensor sensitivity diminishes dramatically if placed behind a window.
*Night vision: it is rated 4/10 for night vision. When there is absolutely NO light, the video are quite blurry, just like the security camera footage back in the 80s/90s with higher resolution. The motion sensor is sensitive under night vision, but the image capture is not as well as other major camera security brands.
*IR: It is also "okay" and not robust. without the night vision turned on, the IR wouldn't work. The video would be an empty black screen.
Wifi: Excellent, we rarely (or never) have camera go offline unless there's internet issues. The reception is exeptionally well even it is placed far away from the hub.
*battery life: ROBUST! We probably only have to change the battery every year or so. The app would notify user when battery is low.
When comparing head to head with other brands (i.e. NightOwl, which is far more sensitive and generate super high quality video, clear audio and excellent low-light performance/videos): ALTHOUGH Blink is consider a mediocre product, it is more consumer and user friendly (self-installation, WAY MORE affordable). The motion sensor sensitivity, video and audio quality are all at par for a basic security camera. At the end of the day, the footage is not meant to make a movie at a theater, hence the specification on the Blink is sufficient enough for personal uses.

A basic but nice camera with good features and solid construction. It only required 10 mins to mount, install the app, and add to my network along with my other devices.

However, the batteries that came with it did NOT last the claimed 2 years, but more like 6 months even with the night light/LED off. But I replaced them with some Duracell's and it's been going strong ever since...
