Once I had it installed (which took 5-10 minutes) I opened the Smart Things app and I did have to manually search for the device. But once I found it (only took a few clicks) it connected with no issues. Now while it works great with the pre-installed software on my Samsung Note 8, I tried to use Google Assistant voice command to no success. However Bixby runs it with no problem.
Do these things in order for an easy install: 1) Make yourself familiar with wiring instructions before you even open the box. 2) Turn breaker off that feeds the lighting in the room you are installing the switch. 3) When you remove cover, take out all switches in the box so you have room to work. 4) Remove old switch and wire in the new one. Remember that the hot leg and the switch leg need to go in specific spots on the new switch for it to work properly. Not the case for the old dumb switch so if you hook it up and it doesn't work, that may be the reason. 5) Before you close everything up, turn power back on and make sure you can connect the device to the hub. Do not put everything back together first or you may have to open everything up again if it does not work. Once you connect it, turn power back off and put everything back together. 6) Turn everything back on, reconnect, and enjoy. I hear no buzzing or experience any issues and my wife loves it. There is a tiny light that indicated the switch is working but only when the switch is in the on position. Not sure why that is needed but it is there.
I pulled the old X1 switch out and wired this one in no problem. I setup the Smarthings Hub and paired the switch. It paired ok but it was not functioning well. Turning it on or off was flaky and unreliable. I tried resetting everything but could not get it stable. I moved the Hub to another location maybe 15 feet closer in another room in the house and the switch would then turn the light on, but not off. Concerned it wasn't getting the signal or maybe the switch was defective, I gave up for the night after 4 hours of tinkering.
The next morning I tried it out and it worked perfect. On and off no problems. No lag or delays. I had not changed anything from the prior night when OFF was not working. It's been perfect ever since. No idea why the initial setup the night before was flaky.
I added the Aeon Minimote to the system as well plus sync'd the Amazon Echo ( http://amzn.to/2n3qeRV ). Now I can turn the lights off and on using the physical switch in the shed, speaking to Alexa "Alexa turn the lights on(off)" or hitting the button on the remote.
Now that the base system is setup I will start to add more of these Z-Wave Plus switches around the house and other smart devices.
So other than the relatively minor hiccup I had on setup the switch is working great at this longer range. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a Z-Wave switch where the advantages of the Plus protocol are beneficial for their application.
I had the switches installed by an electrician after installing 1 or 2 myself. The switches aren't hard to install if you have everything you need coming into the switch box - namely the neutral wire. But, when you're installing 24 of them, plus 10 or so add-on switches for when two or more switches control the same light, there tend to be numerous mini challenges that would of ended up taking me way more time than an electrician.
The switches were purchased and installed in October 2017. No issues with the mechanics of the physical switch or the smart functionality. However, 1-2 months outside of the two year warranty period I had my first switch fail.... Within two weeks after that the second switch failed... I'm now updating this review in February 2020 after 4 more switches failed. So, in just over 2 years I've had 6 out of 24 switches fail - a 25% failure rate. When it comes to something like a light switch, I think it's fair to expect a longer lifespan that just over two years.
For the first failures, I called the warranty claim line and explained my situation, and they didn't hesitate to offer me replacements for the switches, even though I was a couple months outside of the 2-year warranty period. However, after just one more with 4 more failures, customer service was quick to point out the previous time had been a one-time courtesy and there would be no more exceptions. So, that's it. Just over two years of use in a home built in the late 1980s - i.e. not one with antiquated electrical causing problems - and these are one by one starting to fail. I would recommend you stay clear of these.

Llevo mas de seis meses con el usandolo diario y sin problema.
Como mencionaba, lo único que estaría bueno es que trajera el marco ya que es específico para este dispositivo.
Lo unico malo fue que no trajo la tapa que cubre el apagador.
Z-Wave Plus is also a benefit. Of course, these require a neutral wire so check before you buy.
But it was a fight to get this to work - all because the damn wiring diagram is wrong in the manual!!!! In the attached photo "D" is not the ground wire - it actually should be "neutral" (white). The back of the unit shows it as "neutral" but I was going by the diagram (I only know the basics and am not an electrician) In my case, neutral had to be connected via the jump wire to the other wirenutted neutral wires in the fixture.
Normally I would have returned this but was past my return period with Amazon. So I called the 1-800 support line to Jasco and luckily the guy there set me straight and called out the wrong diagram.
So great in that it addresses a missing item in the Vivint lineup to cover z-wave dead sports but -1 star given the misleading instructions.
