It's like the original but HYPED UP! So many unique and charming interactions, the star system for classifying types of behaviours in the photos is genius. Seriously, if you liked the original, you will love this! If you've never played the original and you're not sure if you'll like this - if you're a fan of looking at creatures in their natural habitat or interacting in a natural way, you'll get something out of this game! I've laughed a few times too because some of the interactions I've seen so far are so silly and fun.
In my opinion, the incentives of discovering new secret interactions or new pathways to take will keep me coming back until I've sifted through every last bit of content this game has to offer!
It's gorgeous and a must have for any Pokemon fan who's been let down by Gamefreak's treatment of Pokemon as a franchise and was hungry for some more Pokemon-centric content with an emphasis on Pokemon behaviour and daily life. It's everything I ever wanted in a Snap sequel, a real dream come true!!
Edit | The game has had time to settle in, and with now more than 50 hours clocked, I can assure you that this is one of the most enjoyable Pokemon experiences of my life. The level design is very nicely done, making you need to think to get certain rare Pokemon interactions to fill out your photodex. Every time a new Pokemon shows up, or I get a crazy interaction I didn't expect, I'm overjoyed and feel like a kid again. The amount of discovery in this game is thrilling. Seeing Pokemon interact in their natural environment, especially interactions caused by your interaction are just a pleasure through and through. If you can get into the gameplay, which I sincerely hope you can, the game is just incredible. I do have some minor gripes about the gameplay when it comes to interacting with Illumina Pokemon, as I find their gameplay much less engaging than the puzzle-game styled gameplay of the majority of the time, but the pictures you can snap are still worth it since the Illumina Pokemon are all so majestic. The photo editing is really fun, and the online compenents are satisfying and, in my opinion, make uploading your best photos worth it! I really enjoy custom tailoring my profile to have a mix of artistic photos as well as comical ones. I hope you will play this game!!!!

- It’s a game for both people who played the N64 version like me and for new players. It has nostalgic references from the original, but you don’t need to know anything about the original to play this new game.
- It’s a game for casual players and for people who like challenges. For example, you can progress through the main story and enjoy casually taking photos, but you can also take on some more challenging puzzles/interactions to unlock additional route pathways and get hidden pokémon (including legendaries).
- It has a lot of content. Even after completing the main story and seeing the credits, new routes and endgame pokémon become available. Over the course of the game you unlock several islands with day and night versions of routes. And each of these routes has different levels where different things happen based on how you interact with the environment/pokémon and what pathways you choose. Plus there are side quests to complete and 1, 2, 3, and 4-star pictures for each pokémon based on interactions you can trigger (and each of those has different colors of stars showing photo quality that you can improve).
- It has a lot of pokémon. They are all well designed with a lot of expressions and activities. It has a very safari and natural habitat feel.
Overall, this was a very well done game.
My favorite additions to the game are that each monster has 4 tiers of photo types, ranging from just it existing to a series of complicated steps needed to get it to behave in a special way. These tie hand-in-hand with challenges that unlock special items for editing photos and blinging out your online portfolio (another new feature). The last new item id like to share, without divulging too much, is that many routes have branching paths that reveal different angles and sometimes different creatures altogether. This world is infinitely larger than the 63-mon-only first entry, and with the new DLC another 20 have been added.
The only thing I wish they kept was how you could force evolutions in the first game (like shoving charmeleon into lava to make a Charizard). That experience was removed and I feel like it was one of the best features to discover in the original.
Overall, this game features tons replayability, surprisingly difficult challenges, and crisp and beautiful visuals. Highly highly recommend
