This Philips hue tap switch is a pretty amazing product. First of all, it doesn't require any batteries. It uses kinetic energy which it generates when you press a button. Granted it's not perfect. But what is nowadays? Hue is now adding functionality through their hue app in their Labs section. You can now customize the button and do all kinds of things with it. It comes with double-sided tape so you can hang it on a wall or you can just keep it on your coffee table like I do. I really like this thing.

I bought some Hue lights that I wanted to be able to control with more than my phone or voice and this remote is exactly what I wanted. It's amazing to me that it doesn't need any kind of battery. I live in a 2 floor, 3300 sq ft home and the Hue hub is in the basement. I have one of these remotes on the 1st floor and one on the 2nd and both work fine. I've never had any issue with them not getting the signal to the hub. It's hard to believe the movement of my finger can generate enough power to do that, but it does.

The operation is simple, after pairing it via the Hue app, you set up what you want each button to do. It actually has 4 buttons, 3 little round ones that you see and the entire rest of the face of the unit is another button. Default is the first small button is 100% brightness, 2nd is a dimmer setting, 3rd is a nightlight and clicking the rest of the face turns them off.

It comes with wall mounting plate that has adhesive on it. I haven't mounted mine so I can't comment too much on that but it looks solid enough.

Only downside is that they are a little pricey but in my opinion well worth it considering how well they work and that they won't ever need a battery.

There's nothing bad to say, really. Using Hue Labs formulas within the Hue App, you can easily program each button to do whatever you want, and each button can even do multiple things with formulas (i.e. Light On/Off and set specific color/scene). Perfect for lights that don't have their own switch, as this requires no wiring nor batteries. Also perfect just to easily change light settings without the app or voice control. This is one of the best products I've purchased.

The good news: it does not need a battery. The bad news: you have to push the buttons hard. Didn't expect the need for a hard push, but we've gotten used to it.

Since buying this, I've purchased several of the Hue dimmer switches. Even though they have a battery I prefer them. In addition for the dimmer switch buttons being easy to press, the switches have a lot more functionality (accessible through 3rd party aps such as hue Dynamic).

The adhesive on the back made install onto the wall a breeze. You do need to push pretty firmly and does have a cheap click feel, but I’ll take that over not having to replace the batteries or run power any day!

This does what it needs to do (as long as you have a Hue bridge. 4 buttons (1 being OFF) that are programmable. You can also use Hue Labs for apps that allow double push of each button, giving you more options. I don't know if it works with Alexa because I value my 1st Amendment rights 😁
As an Information Technology professional, I'm not there as the trust level nor putting all my eggs in one basket for home automation. I'd try Alexa if it had a physical hard mute button. And no batteries! How cool is that anyway? Had for about 5 months without issue. Recommended.

After biting the bullet and upgrading my apartment to be fully smart, I decided that speaking to Siri to change the lights to different modes (bright light, warm light, relaxation, and bedtime being the ones I personally use the most) left some to be desired. This switch provides the best combination of quick access to the recipes and value. Setup is a breeze, and configuration via HomeKit allows controlling of any device, not just ones from Philips. The fact that it works without needing batteries is the icing on the cake as it's literally setup once and then just use it without further thought.

This is a must have it's so easy to have a pre-programmed scenes set up for my entertainment room. Sure I could ask my Google home assistant to set the lights to that color but it's also up just nice to be able to push and be done. It's so easy to set up it's ridiculous. It works flawlessly with Philips hue and your ecosystem. I've never used Philips hue with Alexa but with Google home Philips hue rocks.
