Top reviews from the United States

Must book before/after you buy Windows Phones. For a penny. Of course I paid $3.99 shipping & handling. No body pickup pennies on the sidewalks nowadays. Heavy duty paper created natural looks excellent pictures (screen captures from Windows Pnone) and graphics. I myself hate the fonts, style, approach of the DuMMIES series books but this book is worth original $24.99 US. One thought: those cartoons by Rich Tennant... The author did one deed. One cartoon I still remember, old wife is at desktop keyboard, ugly potbelly bare chested boxer briefed big-footed husband lifting an iron at his iron-board to PRESS keys in a key-ring. Says "Press a Key?". (sort of similar effect)
One more nice thing about this book, it is "IN FULL COLOR". This is the only the DuM series book in Full color, bright shiny heavy duty paper.
Thanks author Bill Hughes, Wiley Publishing, Inc. et al. And Amazon.com who gave me this opportunity to buy the best deal in the West.

I'm almost seventy-five, and learning new skills to keep up-to-date is necessary. While I chafe at the appelation "dummies", it certainly is accurate in my case, and the book has helped eliminate the mystery of the Windows Phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars New gizmo get a book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2011
I decided that the time had arrived where I needed to link my computer to my real world and thought that a smartphone would do it everyone goes on saying it must be Android etc etc. but I wanted something simpler so I can get around windows 7 and decided from reviews that I would get a Windows Mobile 7 phone not being one to read reviews and take as gospel mainly because they focus on the areas I am not interested in I bought the above book so I would know the basics and could then move on to make windows mobile 7 mine. I found the book informative and as a good reference for the system ,and more quickly as a senior have made my experience with a smartphone enjoyable I found what this operating system`s shortfalls are and the book enabled me to accept that it is a new system and till it is accepted by more people it will equal or better Android system which I know nothing about. I would recommend this book to help understand and use Windows Mobile 7
I have an HTC HD7 and am glad I got this book as a user manual and Instruction Books assume you know more than you do
Its only drawback is perhaps too biased towards Microsoft but then you are buying a Microsoft product

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing

I am a great believer in the "for Dummies" books and have always found them to be interesting and helpful.
Unfortunatly this one does not live up to the rest, written for the American market it still tends to gloss over some of the basic facts-how to delete certain apps. that appear not to want to be deleted-how to download certain apps. and what does some of the windows messages mean?
Of some use but disappointing I would not recomend this book.

Lots of illustrations, but extremely lean on content. I - and my wife - was expecting much more including useful tips and tricks.
