    Excellent video quality
I wanted a wireless camera to set up in my backyard to live stream birds coming to a feeder.Previously I tried two Campark cams, a Canon video camera, and a Reolink wireless camera before I got to this one and finally found decent image quality.Overall the unit looks and feels well made but not perfect. Some issues:The ball pivot for the camera mount is stiff and lacks acceptable side-to-side movement and the spud that holds the pivot to the mounting base is only locked in place by a very tiny alllen set scew. No allen wrench is included to tighten the screw, which was loose when I received my camera. Getting the mounting plate screws in without scuffing the camera body because it would not pivot out of the way was frustrating. The mounts for the two antennas seem flimsy and the antennas don't really tighten down very well using only fingers. A small bird landed on one and pushed it out of position. The camera must be plugged into your home network with the provided ethernet cable to set it up. This is a bit clunky and I expected the camera to set up completely wireless as my previous Reolink camera did.The wire for the power supply is very light and flimsy and I don't think it's really designed for outdoor work. This is an outdoor camera and all components should be weatherproof. The instructions with the unit are weak and not clear at all. Getting the camera to link to YouTube was a pain and the instructions for livestreaming were only found buried on the Reolink web page. The instructions were not up to date for the softwares involved.Speaking of software, the Reolink Client software that you use to set things up is slow, and is not intuitive. Some info ballons when hovering over buttons would be nice. The optical zoom buttons are half dead, i.e. much to slow to respond to a mouse click. Too many options and features go completely unexplained. It would be nice if the camera came in black or even camo. White makes it too obvious outside. There should be a solar panel option to free the camera from need a 110v outlet.Never the less, the unit itself does work and does give a nice image although it blows out highlights too easily. I may wind up buying a second one to expand the bird show as my birdwatching friends seem to be enjoying it.

This camera is hopefully the end of a long road to find the best security camera for my needs and is no word of a lie the fifth camera I've tried. I have tried Firstrend, Yi, SV3C PTZ, and Jennov PTZ cameras. Firstrend has had connection issues (cameras dropping out) no matter what I've tried, Yi worked great BUT wanted you to pay a monthly/yearly fee to have access to your videos, SV3C PTZ worked great for about a month and then the wifi dropped and would not come back, Jennov PTZ would not connect to my network. I’m using a Netgear ORBI wifi system with two satellites, so range connectivity is not an issue.

So here we are with the Reolink, First impressions have been great so far.

    Pros:
The camera its self is nicely made with a metal body.
Setting up was super easy, as soon as I opened the phone app it found the camera and added it.
Video quality is amazingly clear (see pic, the spiders seem to like it too).
The fact it works with both 2.4ghz and 5ghz is huge. Most IP cameras only work with 2.4ghz
Connecting through the phone app has been ok, it can be a little slow connecting.
The computer app is easy also it works on both PC and MAC (big plus) compared to the other cameras which only work with PCs.

    Cons:
Unboxing it seemed to be missing caps for the reset button and LAN port so I had to tape them.
Like I said connecting through the phone app can be slow
I did have a difficult time setting up email notices using Gmail and under up using Yahoo mail instead. Gmail just would not work.
Motion detection is very sensitive even at the lowest setting I keep getting false notices. Last night we had rain and setting it off so much I just turned it off and as you can see in the night picture spiders have mad a web in front of the lens which is setting the detection off as well. ( I’ll fix that in the am).

So overall I'm very happy with this camera, hopefully it will continue to impress me if so I’ll pick up a few more and hopefully the wifi PTZ version.

I wanted to install a camera on the far side of my house, but I wasn’t looking forward to doing a very long POE cable run to the Reolink NVR. I had some concerns about WiFi image stability and quality, but figured I could return it if it didn’t work out.

Have to say that this 5mp camera works every bit as good as my POE connected 4K cameras. The image is sharp and crisp and the night vision is also very good. The field of view is slightly wider which is not a problem. The camera has a better frame rate than the 4K. It will do up to 30 fps while the Reolink 4K maxes out at 20 fps.

What really impressed me was that even though my WiFi signal on the far side of the house is very weak, it streamed flawlessly to my laptop and iPhone. I do need to put in an extender to boost the Wifi signal so that it can send video to the NVR LAN for hard drive recording. I don’t know if the camera works with a non-Reolink NVR. The Reolink app/software for iPhone or Windows works great. On a Mac the software is not as good, especially for playback.

Just FYI: the install requires an outlet to plug in the connected 12v transformer. I mounted the camera beneath the garage eaves and ran the power line through the wall from the outside into the garage and to an outlet. The WiFi / NVR set-up itself is not hard, but it is not intuitive so follow the instructions step-by-step unlike myself who plowed ahead and then had to go back and read the manual to figure out what I did wrong. Real men don’t ask for directions or read installation manuals. Right? Anyhow: great camera – no disappointments.

Easy to set up on mobile device. Love that it works with Alexa although the linking procedure is a bit cumbersome. Slight delay (several seconds) before it connects with Alexa but nothing to really complain about. Bonus is that I was also able to download software to my desktop and can monitor through that as well. Installation was a bit awkward (could be me) but picture and sound are great. Like it so much that I have ordered two more to cover other areas that I want monitored.

8/12/2020 update: The desktop application is not as intuitive as I would like and there is no manual or online instructions for how to use some of the features. Also, the plug blocks the second outlet in the outlet box so I cannot plug in a second item (low voltage lighting). Otherwise, I am really pleased with this camera and its features and would definitely recommend it.

8/30/2020 additional update: After working for several days, the first camera (front yard) dropped reception. Within a day or so, the second camera (driveway) also dropped reception. Both cameras are wall mounted to the same corner room, one camera faces east, the other south. The third camera (porch) continued to function.
After reading about various issues, I determined that the wifi signal was too weak to be reliable to the front yard and driveway cameras. I invested in a mesh network (Eero Pro). I followed setup for the mesh network and the driveway camera came back online briefly. The front yard camera did not. Several emails to Reolink did not correct the problem and it was determined that the cameras needed to be reconnected through the LAN port so that they could find the wifi network. These cameras were already wall mounted and I did not want to remove them and then reinstall them. I took one of the Eero devices (they have LAN ports), an extension cord, and an ethernet cable out to the cameras. I was able to establish connection with a LAN device through this process and both cameras are again functioning.
While I still give the cameras a high rating, I have reduced that rating from five to four stars based on the inability to establish connections without the use of an ethernet cable. If I change internet providers and the wifi changes, will this happen again? The cameras have settings to allow the user to choose the connection but the camera must be online in order to use those settings. This is a design flaw that needs to be corrected. The user needs to be able to access this ability without the camera actually being online. Not everyone may be able to work around this problem with extension cords, mesh network devices, and ethernet cables. And, not everyone may want to install, remove, and then reinstall these devices if the network changes. Had I not been able to work around this issue and had to remove the cameras, I would have returned them because of this.
