    PROS & CONS
    3 Stars
    PROS & CONS
PROS:1) The Stealth version uses "Razer Orange switch" with slightly less actuation distance than "Cherry Brown switch". I can actually spam double & triple taps faster on this new Razer switch due to the shorter travel.2) Anti-Ghosting (you can press up to 10 keys at the same time & it will still register)3) Ummm, nice lighting effects?CONS:1) You need to install Synapse just to customize the lighting options. It is set to "breathing effect" by default.2) Keycap material feels like cheap plastic but can easily be replaced if desired. (I prefer PBT keycaps)3) I prefer not having the awkwardly small wrist rest.4) Synapse sucks. Razer is forcing us to install a software that constantly uses bandwidth via cloud. You can still use the product without installing Synapse but you can't enjoy all the features.I ended up buying "Deck Francium Pro" because it uses PBT keycaps & I can set macros & lighting effects without installing any software.

This review is for BOTH the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth [Essential] and [Backlit Orange]

Essential Stealth: this is the compact model mechanical keyboard. The quality of this is as follows. Case is a strong durable plastic with a slight texture that is pleasing to the touch. Keys feel solid and well designed. As this is the Stealth model, the clicks are muted but definitely responsive with a good follow through. This model has no lights on it so it's a simple mechanical keyboard. Pros: SOLID keyboard great for smaller settings, smaller hands and desk space. Cons: The cord is detachable from the keyboard itself. It's made from quality mesh wrapping but if you plan on moving it around alot or making it portable, might want to take this into consideration. Another con is the compact design makes for key placements that different from what your fingers might be used to from a normal 104-key keyboard. 9/10

Backlit Orange Stealth: I wanted a secondary keyboard now that my computer space changed allowing me more room. I'm a casual gamer, don't stream and play only a few competitive games for fun like Overwatch, CS:GO and PU:battlegrounds with friends. I was looking for a mixture of economical price, quality and aesthetics in that order. The Razer BlackWidow provided me with the best of all 3 worlds. Under $100, working example of the similar model and I liked the backlit colors for night time gameplay. I consider myself a very critical shopper and I do my homework. Here is why I chose this Make and model. Case is solid with some quality weight and durability built into it. It feels good to the touch and appears to be able to take mild gamer rage abuse (and no, I don't plan on testing that out). Backlight Keys are easy on the eyes with several ways to control the brightness. You can use the Synapsys app from Razerone.com or you can control it through FN + F10 or F11. The "breathing" light feature is great for a while but after a while, I'm already bored with it. The ability to modify your keyboard lighting is both easy and has a bit of variety for the average user. My favorite combo is to mix Long breathing with Starlight keys. The cord is high quality thick mesh wrapping a triple wire. There are TWO USB connections and a Headphone jack that plugs into your keyboard. The ports for them are located on the side. Cool and convenient feature!. The keys are Stealth so its quiet but not silent. They feel solid to the touch and have the same great follow through as my Essential model.
Pros: Summing everything up, the quality feel with a bit of weight behind it as well as keystrokes definitely feeling mechanical yet quiet enough not annoy anyone (including myself) when I type. The keystrokes are responsive and good to the touch. This model doesn't suffer the compact model problem where the keys feel naturally placed.
Cons: Like I said, I'm a fairly critical shopper but this has very little to say against it. In my opinion, the Cost, Quality and Aesthetics triangle is fairly evenly spread in the center. If I had one thing to say against it, it would be that the two USB plugs should be labeled Keyboard and AUX. Honestly, that's all I have to say against it. It's a 10/10, would highly recommend

Really any review ultimately depends on what you are looking for. Research what you really want first!

So without further ado, what I was looking for
    1) Cherry Brown or Razer Orange mechanical switches -
For those not familiar, mechanical keyboards offer superior responsiveness which is why people buy them. Each mechanical keyboard has a specific switch, which is the type of response and affects the noise, reaction speed, and feel. Pick a switch FIRST. I've always used "normal" keyboards before. After a lot of research from YouTube videos and articles I decided the between Cherry Brown or Razer Orange.

    2) Noise -
So although I was interested in mechanical keyboards, the ridiculous noise of the clicks was very concerning. I wanted a mechanical keyboard that softened the noise. This keyboard is more quiet than your typical mechanical keyboard, but you can still expect some noise

    3) Ease to type -
The Cherry Brown or Razer Orange IMO are the easiest to do easy typing with. I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely love the Razer Orange switch. I can type faster and more accurately than any keyboard I've ever used.

    4) Appearance -
I find the appearance to be very straightforward and simple, which is what I wanted. I didn't want a ton of Macro buttons or volume controls etc. Its the same exact layout as a typical keyboard. I simply like the appearance better than its competitors (eg Corsair or Logictech) as I find many of the competitors looking clunky to me.

One note is it only has the green lighting (which is very easy to control once its registered with Razer). I have a Chroma mouse and I must say Chroma lighting does grow on you. Part of me wishes I spent a bit more for the Chroma version.

This keyboard arrived today and all I can say is "The search is over." No, I didn't buy this keyboard because I'm an avid gamer... I bought it in hopes that it would have lighted keys that are easy to see in all sorts of room lighting situations. I've tried the high-end Logitech keyboards and several of the glitzy "gaming" keyboards with relatively good online reviews. But none of those was capable of lighting up the keys sufficiently to see them well under low light conditions; and in normal light, they were barely visible at all unless I looked directly down on them. This Razer (BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth 2016) version was my last hope. All I can say is "Wow." The lighting of the individual keys is superb, whether the workspace area lighting is dim or bright. The keys are clicky - sort of old-style, but I love that. Its nice to know when you're striking the keys. The keyboard is "normal" size, so I'm not hitting the wrong key accidentally when I touch type. It is a heavy keyboard too. That is another plus. The connect cable is heavy duty and even though I probably won't use the pass-through features of the keyboard/cable for the USB and media port; it's nice to have those as options. This is a quality keyboard and I sincerely believe it is worth the price I paid for it. There are scores of programming features for the keyboard that I'll probably never use. I just wanted to be able to see the keys clearly illuminated and after years of looking, I finally got my wish. I highly recommend this keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Serious Typing and Gaming!
Reviewed in Canada on June 9, 2017
I do a tremendous amount of typing and a little gaming; this keyboard is great for both.
I have not had a great keyboard since my Gateway Anykey (circa 1992) and have always gotten by with the cheap, forgettable and disposable Dell's that come with every desktop. I managed to destroy my last Dell keyboard's WASD keys after only 30 hours of Fallout 4...time for an upgrade.

This board is rock solid and heavy. The Two USB cables could be used to keep a ship in anchored. It's pretty loud...wish it was louder! My next keyboard will be another Razer. As much as I love my Logitech G502 mouse, I will likely want to try a Razer mouse next time and I may even sell a kidney and go after the Razer Blade laptop; my buddy loves his.

Razer's quality has nose-dived compared to where they were 5 years ago,
This keyboard the a perfect example of an over-priced door-stopper.
Firstly, it's far from 'stealth', in fact it's louder than my MX Brown keys that I previously had which were supposed to be very loud & clicky..
Second, the cord is not detachable like 99% of gaming keyboard, instead it's a thick cheap cord with 3 output heads which 2 you don't necessarily need.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good keyboard, but started giving problems in less than 6 months
Reviewed in India on February 9, 2017
Feb 10th, 2017 - The keyboard looks and feels great, being a mechanical keyboard with backlighting. However, the font used isn't ideal - they could have used a more legible font on the keys. My biggest problem is the keyboard started having issues in less than 6 months of purchase. Many keys stopped working properly. Also some keys have come loose - not what I expected from an expensive keyboard like this. I've still given three stars because maybe I was just unlucky and got a rare defective piece. I have now submitted a warranty request - let's see how that goes. I will update this review accordingly once this is resolved.

UPDATE FEB 11 - Razer emailed saying I should get the warranty replacement from the reseller. Amazon says they and the reseller don't provide a warranty. So basically, I paid Rs. 10,500 to use a keyboard for just a few months. Very bad idea to buy this :—(

UPDATE 2 - The reseller put me in touch with Razer's India distributor who does provide warranty service and RMA support. Apparently the above update was due to some misunderstanding. Hence I'm amending the review back to 3 stars.
