Over the years I've used a mix of Seagate and Western Digital drives--pricing being the main factor when deciding which drives to run in a given build at the time of putting the system together. For this specific build (UNRAID NAS), Seagate was a clear winner.

For the build, UNRAID was selected as it serves dual purposes--both as a NAS and a hypervisor for Virtual Machines and Docker containers; additionally, setting up bonded 10Gbit links is pretty seamless with near-zero configuration.

    For the parts:

    - MSI Godlike MEG x570
    - AMD 3900x (12 core / 24 threads)
    - 128GB Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX (OC'ed to 3200MHz)
    - 16x 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD's
    - 8x 8TB Seagate IronWolf HDD's
    - 2x Intel 10Gbit Ethernet Adapters (bonded)
    - MegaRaid 9305-24i HBA (connecting all 24x disks)
    - Radeon VII GPU

All Seagate IronWolf drives were verified for warranty and came back as expected (full warranty). This was a bit of a risk as I've seen a number of stories where OEM drives are being sent in addition to drives that were barely inside of the warranty period--glad to confirm that these were not.

With the build live, the Seagate drives are working great and are already 20% filled. They've been extremely reliable and fast (for standard HDD's) and I'll be looking to Seagate as I begin planning to expand the storage in the coming months.

I purchased this drive to replace a 4TB Iron Wolf in my NAS unit (QNAP TS251+). I converted the 4TB drive to USB and will plug it into my NAS to add even more storage. I shoot a lot of photos and video and was running out of room on the 4TB drive.

This 8TB drive is performing admirably for about a month since I made the swap. It is synchronized with 2 USB drives that I plug into my two laptops. This allows me to keep 3 versions of each file; one on each laptop and one on the NAS. they update automatically so I always have the most recent version of every file. I've been using Seagate drives for many years and I can say they are as reliable as any drives on the market, but can't say they are problem-free. I have had a couple fail over the years, but in general they outlast their warranties by several years (I've owned 2 that haven't in nearly 30 years and Seagate replaced both). These Iron Wolf models are fairly rugged and seem quite capable of handling the extra workload of network drives. The drawback is that they aren't as fast as the ones I use in my pcs.

I had a hard drive go down in my NAS. After talking with a friend of mine I purchased not one, but two... one to replace the down drive and one to keep on hand should another drive go down in the future. Honestly, I didn't catch the fact that these drives were "Used - Like New" until after I had already got one up and going in the NAS. Everything seems to be working great and the company seems to be very willing to help you and stand behind it should you need anything so that gives some peace of mind. The drive was exactly the size and specs I needed at a great price. I hadn't bought drives in a LONG time for my NAS so I just assumed the prices had dropped - which they had. The drives arrived VERY well packaged and protected. I can't complain. So far so good.

I prefer IronWolf NAS drives for my Synology NAS boxes. They appear to be the most reliable drives I've ever used. I've never had any failures yet.

I bought 4 more of the 8 TB drives for my latest NAS last week. My other 2 existing NAS boxes use the same drives. I could install 12 TB drives in these NAS, but there's still a significant price jump per TB when you move to anything 10 TB or larger.

The next time I run out of NAS storage space, hopefully price per TB will have dropped and I can just upgrade to 12 TB drives. Then I can use these 8 TB drives for offline backups.

I only had it for 3 months, but I am very happy with many aspects of this HD. Performance, price, weight, etc. I normally use WD Black for my lab computers (after a catastrophic failure with one of them), decided to turn to a more affordable solution and put the savings towards A Raid solution. I will continue to use these drives as their ROI seem to be higher than any competitor. I recommend this product!

Overall experience is good with this drive . Only two complaints.
    1) Out of 8 TB only 7 TB is available.
    2) Sometime getting that grinding and clicking noise.
Everything else is good and I am happy with this drive.

Bought two of these for NAS at home. Three months, first drive failed. Two weeks later second drive failed. In 3-1/2 months they were both toast. Seagate used to be my brand of choice for pc hardware. Not any more. Customer Service was responsive but a slow process. Returned first drive for warranty replacement. Had issues with their used drive replacement policy. 3-1/2 months old is "new" as far as I'm concerned. They made a 1-time exception and agreed to replace failed drive with new one, which I appreciate. Now that 2nd drive also failed right after the first, I'm not going to bother to go through that whole process again. Ended up with one fairly expensive paper weight. I recommend looking at a different brand.

I've been using these drives in my QNAP TS-431+ for a couple years now. The NAS works as my home media server, so it sees consistent daily use. The speed of the drives is very decent, and they have been remarkably problem free despite the fact that I almost never shut down the NAS. I'll keep using IronWolf drives at home and in small business installations until Seagate comes out with something better.
