    Motion detection is horrible!
    I purchased this security camera because of its ability to record video wirelessly with nothing else needed. Setup is very simple, and once you play with the downloadable app, it is very easy to use. The picture quality is very good, but the motion detection is horrible. FedEx delivered a package today, and the camera pointing at my entire driveway did not pick up his truck pulling into my drive, and the driver was invisible to the camera as he walked up my driveway to deliver the package. The second camera which is pointing at my front door and walkway did pick him up just as he tossed the package onto the porch. But it did not pick him up when he first entered the walkway. Yet cardinals and bluebirds set off the motion detectors all day long. Kind of useless to set the motion sensitivity lower to try to eliminate the tiny birds from triggering the cameras if they are not going to pick up the big stuff. My wife came home yesterday, and the driveway camera started recording as soon as half the car was already in the garage. How useless is that! (see picture). The motion detection appears to have a range of less than 10 feet. I guess that is why they are so good at catching the birds on film, since they are willing to fly right up to them. Don’t waste your money on these if you are wanting to see what is actually going on.Jan.6- Took the dogs for a walk today, and when I returned, I walked right up to the garage camera, waving at the camera. Stood about 6 feet away, waving both arms, then I walked to the side to go to the backyard. The camera started recording just after I started walking away!Jan.7- Mail vehicle pulled into driveway and parked 11’ from the camera. Mailman opened the door, got out carrying a package, and camera starting recording when mailman was actually at the front door. It did not even record him at all....just the vehicle sitting there with the door open. And the windshield wipers were on, so that was constant motion! (see picture)Jan.8-9: My wife backed out of the garage both days, and the camera did not record this. The camera is above the middle of the garage door! How could it miss this?I have been in contact with support, but all they want to do is tell you to change the settings in the app. Funny, I don’t see any adjustments that tell the motion detector to actually work! There is no motion sensitivity that should miss a car passing directly under the camera! Like I said before, this camera has wonderful video, if you can get it to come on from movement directly in front of it.Jan. 13- Walked from the street up the middle of the driveway, then turned to the right to go to my front door. The only thing the camera got on video was the back of my legs after I passed by!* Support finally did replace the garage camera, and the new one does pick up my wife’s car as she comes and goes, but you never see the whole car when she is returning. Just the back of it as it enters the garage.Feb. 1st- Today a cat walked from the left side of the driveway to the right side, and the entire width of the driveway is in the cameras view, but the video is just of the cat’s back legs and tail as he walks out of view of the camera..... that is not what I call security.* Support asked me to update my review, so here it is: Until they are able to fix the motion detection and distance problem, and have the camera actually start recording as soon as motion is detected, this system is really not a good security system. More of a novelty item than anything else.Feb. 4th- Wife went out shopping today, and camera picked her up leaving, but when she returned, the camera did not video her returning. So, I guess all of the cameras have the same bug in them. Sometimes they see movement, and sometimes they don’t. How frustrating is that!Feb. 16th- Camera alarmed and started recording 8 times in 4 minutes time. There was nothing moving on any of the videos, so I had to turn off the security system. It was 12 degrees below zero, so I am assuming that the low temperature must have caused the camera to malfunction. It it’s not one thing, it’s another with this system.Support has offered to replace the garage camera again, but I really don’t see how replacing an “apple” for an “apple” can ever solve the problem. Fix the motion detection and I would gladly accept a replacement. As is, it would just be wasting my time.Feb. 24- Took dogs for walk, and when we returned, camera did not start recording until we were completely out of cameras view. And we walked straight towards the camera, not turning to the left until we were 10’ from the camera! Would post the video, but they only allow one video per review.March 6- Purchased a new chair today, and when I carried it from the garage to the front door, the camera on the garage never even bothered to come on. I guess it was taking a nap!Also had a delivery from FedEx today. The delivery guy managed to make it to the front door before the garage camera bothered to turn on. So, it only captured the back of him when he was leaving. ( see video)I could post about 50 videos of incidents where these cameras just don’t capture anything useful because of their very poor motion detection to video on response time. But unfortunately Amazon only allows one video per review!March 8th- This is a copy of email reply from Eufy Support about this product, word for word:“Thank you for your email and sorry that the eufycam E or eufycam 2 system will not meet your expectations.We totally understand that our product is not perfect. You have our promise that our engineers would work day and night to improve this product and we are glad to have your support and understanding, which would be a huge encouragement for us to seeking continuous improvement.We will consider the possibility of future development. Any other concerns we can address in the future, please feel free to contact us.Thank you for your support. Have a lovely day.Best Regards.”So, basically I am being told that they know that the system is junk, and thanks for buying it! Never again!!!

    I will start with the challenges as there are so many more positive things about the EufyCam
    security system I figure start with the minor details first. First it is very frustrating to get activity zones to work effectively and once set, seems to not detect motion at all. Also, if a subject is moving quickly, while motion may be detected there is no 3 seconds look back which means you may not actually have a subject by the time the recording starts. Thus, camera placement is critical and should be positioned where subjects roam across a wider field of view. I do not consider either of these issues showstopppers, as the activity zones aren't necessary if you tune the motion sensitivity and the triggered camera recording delay can be accommodated by overlapping fields of view using multiple cameras.

    On a completely positive note the cameras are very easy to install, the battery life is very good and the local storage is very cost effective over the competition. Since we have limited bandwidth at our Cottage, local storage was essential, thus I spent a bit extra and purchased 128G SDXC cards for the Base. I never worry about storing locally as the app makes it easy to watch and download the footage to your laptop or smartphone directly. I also purchased a small APS UPS in the event the power goes out so I never lose a recording which far exceeds that of the competition. This is why I purchased the EufyCam E system and I have not been disappointed.

    I also like that all of the settings can be done remotely and I see the software improving with each update.

    I also am extremely happy with the included mounts, especially the magnetic mount. Easy to pull the camera down for charging, but dont forget to disable the theft alarm, because it works very well too with no false positives thus far.

    Battery life for the camera is very good, given all the false alerts due to my motion settings two of the cameras needed to be recharged after 8 months, while the other 3 are still at full bars, so I will get well over a year on these.
    But even with the two, the cameras can be fully charged in less than 2 hours if you use the base to charge them. The battery icons are readily displayed so you will always know their status.

    Lastly the support was fantastic and very responsive when one of my cameras went down, earning Eufy the 5 stars.

    We even mounted a camera just for captures of the lake!

    So all in all, this is the best set of cameras I have had thus far.

    My only suggestions is for Eufy to add geofencing in order to automatically change the camera to home or away rather than having to remember to do it manually. That would be sweet!

    I highly recommend this product.
