Trick is, when you hold down the power button to turn on the headset, keep holding down that button - eventually "Razer Opus" will appear, after which pairing is easy.
Differences in Razer Opus Version: There is a newer '2020' Razer Opus version with Bluetooth 5.0 and longer battery life. But the new version uses a bluetooth codec, AAC, that generally only works well with Apple phones (or so says Wirecutter and SoundGuys). This old version uses a bluetooth codec, aptX, that works well on Android phones that support aptX.
As for battery life - rtings tested this old version's battery life at 32+ hours, which is 7+ hours better than advertised.
As for Bluetooth 5.0 - higher Bluetooth versions are better, but you aren't necessarily getting an audio quality improvement with newer Bluetooth versions.
tl;dr - if you've got an Android phone that supports aptX, give this older, cheaper version of Opus a hard look. If you're an iPhone user, you should probably go with the new Opus version.
I wanna start off by saying the noise cancellation is on par with the Bose which I would say is the best sometimes I felt completely deaf The battery life is I think probably less than advertise but still plenty you can’t really go to days without charging it but you can come close which the other ones I’ve mentioned do about the same I wouldn’t seen that they falsely advertise them on ours I just say that on average I think these kind of headphones really don’t last more than a day if you’re actually using them a lot like I do now about sound quality that one’s going to take me when I feel like the rest of my life to explain to people the best way I know how to put it is it’s beneath bows and Skullcandy in different ways But possibly still above Cohen which Cohen is still not bad the Cohens I would say feel like budget ones you can buy them for about 100 bucks I bought these on sale for 140 I bought the post on sale for 180 and I bought the Skullcandy for closer to about 200 the Bose I have are a iteration that was used for gaming and is an all-around amazing headset both in how it fits how light it is it goes all the way around the ear. doesn’t feel too big not too tight and probably the single most comfortable headphones out there. the sound is as wide and rich as you could imagine it’s pretty much perfect but it has zero customizability which is sort of frustrating the Skullcandy crushers that I have are actually The Skullcandy crusher ANC which is the highest ranking Skullcandy headphones I’d say with the base slider all the way down they match the sound of the Bose but the headphones themselves don’t.
they are not completely comfortable
might be one of the more uncomfortable headphones that I own right behind it I would say that these razor headphones are actually closer to the skullcandy in terms of uncomfortability just because of how oddly tight that they are... not very light either The Cohen are actually surprisingly the closest to the bose in terms of comfortability but when it comes to gaming use I’d say they all fit just fine and that the the razors come close to first right behind Skullcandy my reasonings for this is because the 3-D ability of really telling you where things are in a video game is fascinatingly well done the skullcandy have a better range of sound like that of the Bose while also giving the user the ability to decide how much base they want which is actually what makes them in my opinion the coolest ones. razor is right behind those with less customizability being there no base slider.
Go to top this off with some keynotes.
they don’t get quite loud enough in my personal opinion they get loud enough that they’re audible but they don’t really feel like they’re pumping you full of noise at any point the bass is decent the audio is pretty good but I just don’t know I wouldn’t say that it was average and I wouldn’t say that it was bad it’s like it’s right in the middle and I can’t really say too much about it they are very medium on the scale of great, it’s weird
Top reviews from other countries
Did a tremendous amount of research and came to the conclusion that while Sony, Bose, and Sennheiser likely make better overall headsets, they also come with a price point that's often more than double what these are. Many of the expert reviews showed surprise at how well balanced these were and how accurate their sound reproduction was. I'm not a basshead, so even though I like rich bass, I don't need headphones that exaggerate it. So, saw these on sale and took the plunge.
Packaging was typical of Razer, attractive & clean...but what's in it is what matters. The headphones come in a very nice hard case that will be easy to travel with. Headphones are neatly broken down inside and you have a full range of connectors for power and a wired connection if desired. The headphones themselves are an attractive "midnight blue" color...very muted ans stylish, not loud like many of Razer's computer peripherals. No one will look twice at you in the off or on the plane.
Charged them to full charge, downloaded the Razer app on my Pixel cellphone and proceeded with Bluetooth pairing. As some have mentioned in other reviews, you need to hold down the power button for a little longer than you might expect to initiate the pairing. Once you see Razer Opus as an option to connect, you're good. For some reason, I see Razer Stereo as my saved connection on future connects. Hasn't affected anything but I've seen some discussion around that being incorrect. I may check with Razer support to see if that's an issue, but it hasn't affected playability for me. You can only connect to one device, but the process was pretty simple - multi device connectivity isn't worth an extra $100 or more on pricing in my opinion.
The sound on these is great - again, my opinion. The Razer app allows you to use 5 different presets...from the default THX setting, to several others that emphasize vocals, bass, clarity and one that is just amplified. My preference is the default setting and sometimes, the amplified. Sound is as is it meant to be heard. Nothing is overdone. This may disappoint bass fans but if you have a broad taste in music, I think you'll enjoy hearing clearer vocals and instruments. Since a big reason for this purchase is to use while traveling, I tend to listen to softer, calmer music so I can sleep on the plane...so big bass wasn't a priority for me.
So, on traveling...the active noise canceling blew me away. I've never had ANC Bose or Sonys...my understanding is that they rule the ANC kingdom, but coming from a pair of 6-7 Monster Inspirations with sketchy ANC, I was shocked at how far the tech has come in the last decade. I can still hear my dogs barking or sharp noises, but any sustained noises - like fans, showers, engine rumbles, etc. - just evaporate into a sea of white noise. You will hear a little electric hiss but it disappears as soon you have something playing. Pretty minor stuff for cans that are half the price of the Sony or Bose options. No question these will travel well.
They're comfortable - never had any issues with clamping force or the headband. My Corsairs can be a bit uncomfortable at the top of the head after hours of use. The Monsters aren't bad but you know they're on your head. My Bose set is probably similar in comfort in that you barely notice they're on. Weight is well distributed for my skull and the earpads are plenty comfy even if they do get warm after a bit of time.
Other cool features...hold down the ANC button and you can hear what's happening in the outside world. If you want to pause your music, just take the set off or put them around your neck. Music automatically pauses and resumes when you put them back on. Neat feature, find I'm using it more than I expected. Works well...haven't managed to trick it into pausing when it shouldn't. All button layout, so no touch controls if that's important to you...but the buttons are solid and intuitive. It will take you 5 minutes to figure it all out.
In summary, I'm happy with this level of quality, sound, and ANC for headphones in the $200 Cdn range. I'm sure if I spent double on Sonys...or even more on Bose or Sennheiser, I'd see a difference...but not by much. These are the best sounding headphones I've personally owned and by far and away the best ANC. If you're coming from higher end headphones, I think you'll be impressed by what you're getting at this price point. If you're coming from a lower price point or much older headphones like I did, this will feel like a huge multi generational leap.
And you'll have more money in your pocket to spend on the Razer Opus II if and when they come out!! :)

―Frequency response pretty flat
―Excellent noise cancellation, especially good against vehicle engines. At home I leave a mic open to make sure I can hear the door.
―Relatively loud hiss when noise cancellation active, but I stopped consciously noticing it after a week & it doesn't interfere with listening.
―Bumping the headphones or your vehicle hitting large bumps will make the noise cancellation cut out for a few seconds.
―Subjectively, most comfortable headphones I've owned.
―The removeable cord is a normal stereo 1/8" (a.k.a. 3.5mm) patch cord, not proprietary, which I really appreciate. My original cord has lasted very well and still works.
―The ear pads started to show minor signs of wear after 15 months of 6-10-hour-a-day use, and one of them totally fell apart after 20 months. Razer and aftermarket sellers haven't come up with replacement ear cushions for this model. As a stopgap, I've found that the plastic rings from the Opus's cushions can be inserted into replacement cushions for the Sony WH-1000XM3, with some cuts to extend the clip slots. The treble frequency response isn't as flat, and it's less comfortable, but the noise cancellation is still excellent. I'm still hoping someone will make replacements designed specifically for this model.
