I have had this about a year now. I use the speaker and the light in my Den/office/man cave.

What I really like about it is setting up the light was simple to give control over the light with my Alexa speaker, and this speaker knows when it is told to turn on and off a light, that it is this light that it controls. If I am more specific and give the name of the light in the next room, instead of just saying light, I can turn that other light on and off as well.

Another thing specifically about the light that I like is, it works great as just a generic general light. But you can ask Alexa to adjust the brightness. So at night I often set it to about 10%. You can also set it to different colors, so at night I might set it to 10% with the color red. It just gives you a lot of flexibility as you can set it to pretty much any color you want at any brightness you want.

The speaker is also so handy. I used it to listen to Amazon prime music all the time, or to podcasts, or to set timers or tell me the whether. I also use it to control a fire TV stick in the same room. TV control still needs a little work, sometimes it gets a little confused, but as you learn how to be more specific it gets a little better, but where I find it just works great is if someone walks in and starts talking to you while you are in the middle of a show, you can just say Alex pause. This 1) pauses your program without you having to find the remote and 2) Let's the person that interrupted you know that they need to start over because when they walked in talking, you were not paying attention.

Then when they leave, you can say Alexa resume and continue watching. Some apps though pause/resume doesn't work, but select always works.

So Alexa is great, this bulb is great. It is a good package.

Used to love these things - and were great for having music in all kinds of places like the garage and workout room. But for some reason, over the past 6 months, 3 of ours have given up the ghost. I don't know if it's a generational issue, software, hardware, etc. Dispite cold boots, reboots, clean-slate, etc., they've crossed the rainbow bridge and no longer respond to commands - all we get are "I'm having trouble understanding right now..."

And somewhat related, also not digging Amazon's new music selection where I have to listen to songs I don't want mixed with the songs I do want. A poor way to force people to subscribe to their music store. Personally I can tollerate a couple poor songs popping in once in a while, but to a granddaughter who only wants to hear the Wiggles, that's another story.

I love the Echo Dots - older version that is more like a hockey puck. I prefer the sound to the standard Echo which has too much base sound for my liking. Voice recognition isn't perfect, but I believe that is more to do with Alexa than the Echo. In any case, with the wide array of music, podcasts, audio-books, etc. - and the ability to set routines and use "drop in," the Echo has been great. In addition to my own use, I used it in my mom's nursing home room (she was blind, immobile, and unable to initiate communication) after I installed reliable WiFi. It was a godsend.
