Product Description
BACK TO BLACK An impressive second act, the classic Major kicks up its performance a few notches. Updated sound, looks and durability, as well as improved ergonomics, give way to a whole new level of listening. A rock-solid character that’s built to last, the Major II makes its presence known. It’s more advanced sound features include customised drivers, to deliver deeper bass and more extended detailed highs with a refined mid- range and overall lower distortion. The detachable double-ended coil cord with mic and remote is equipped with an L-plug end, providing improved durability and carrying ease. The dual 3.5 mm jacks allow you to choose which side you prefer to wear your cable on or to plug in and share your music with a friend. The Major’s already classic good looks upgrade to a more rounded construction and extra durable vinyl finish. With its newly constructed hinges and headband design, the Major II fits better than ever. Allowing for increased flexibility and the ear caps to rotate more freely, the Major II adapts to your head shape for increased comfort during those long listening sessions. True to form, The Major II is yet another solid work-horse manufactured in the trademark Marshall way.

Sound 3.5/5 - Good but definitely outclassed by other (more expensive) cans. Probably not outclassed in its price range though.

Build 3/5 - Basically it's almost built well. band seems to be well made and cups seem ok too. I'm in agreement with some other reviewers that the plastic piece connecting the cups to the band is downright terrible. Mine has not broken yet but I will not be surprised when it does...it's very cheap.
At the end of the day you can get these for around $60, and the sound/quality is very good for $60. I have some more expensive cans that are measurably better but it's not a fair comparison. That said there are some $100 cans that smash these in almost every way. So if your budget is set around $60 you can't go wrong with these. If you can get up to $100 there's some better long term options ( check p h i l l i p s).
The reason I bought them was to cannibalize for my ski helmet (with speaker pockets). I have managed to get a reasonable fit by stripping grinding and epoxying. Low cost and the bass is what I needed as the fit is not perfect and you loose a lot of bass. They work better than the crap that is offered for the purpose though.
I wish Marshall would include a hard case to protest these headphones and would make it easier to purchase extra connecting cords.
Edit: After having the headphones for a year and a half they have broken. There is a plastic piece where they adjust that broke off. Hubby takes very good care of his things so this is not because of mishandling. Guess we will be looking at a different brand for replacement. Bummer.
The only issue is on hot days when they can bother a bit, but other than the quality is great.
