Anyway, after checking a local music store and drooling over their Cordoba instruments, we learned they wanted $40 in labor plus the cost of strings. I ❤️ brick & mortar stores but only the good ones! Anyway, to Amazon I turned, finding these for a really attractive price.
Not being a more than a very novice ukulele player, I can't comment on the quality of these versus a another brand. I can say there's a huge jump in quality over what came installed on it, though. These stay in tune much longer, and genuinely make this cheap instrument sound noticeably better. That's a win to me.
Note: Cousin loves the strings :3
I also have 2 other ukes with Aquila strings. One is a Kohala Kine'O tenor uke. This is a low end instrument that did not sound much better than the no-name soprano at first. It came with black flabby strings (no tension) that sounded plasticy and lacked resonance. I replaced them with a set of Aquila tenor strings with the low octave G string and the improvement was drastic. The uke now sounds good (not great) and has decent resonance. Also this particular uke has great intonation. Before the Aquila strings this instrument was a disappointment. With the Aquila strings it has become a keeper considering the cost. I got the it from Guitar Center with a coupon for $49, and the strings for $5 from an ebay seller.
Also have a Luna Tattoo concert uke (with preamp) that is the best sounding of my ukes, although its intonation is not as good as that of the Kohala tenor. The Luna ukes come with Aquila strings pre-installed on them. This is a sweet and warm sounding ukulele that has a wonderful rich resonance. I doubt that I will ever use anything but Aquila's on this one.

As with all ukulele strings, they do take a while to settle in. I had to tune them after every 15 minutes of playing for the first couple of days. Every 30 minutes for the next few days. Once an hour for the next week. After a month, I only have to tune them a couple of times a week (or when the room is much cooler or warmer).
Note that Aquila "New Nylgut" strings can come in either a brown package or a yellow package. Apparently, they are the same thing, but the brown ones are last year's version. There is a different darker brown package labeled Aquila "Super Nylgut" that is a slightly different formulation for a somewhat higher price. Most reviewers say the price difference is not worth it.
