Product Description
The LifeStraw Go Water Bottle personal water filter has been updated with 2-stage filtration to improve the taste of filtered water and provide even better protection from contamination. In addition to the award-winning LifeStraw hollow fiber membrane filter, the next-generation Go Bottle incorporates a carbon capsule that reduces bad taste, odor, chlorine and organic chemical matter. The convenient, reusable LifeStraw Go personal water filter bottle is ideal for hiking, camping, or traveling to areas with poor water quality, and is a critical addition to any disaster survival kit or bugout bag. Easily to fill by scooping water from any pond, stream, or river, filtration happens while drinking through the mouthpiece. When the filter has reached capacity (1,000 liters / 264 gallons) it will stop taking in water. The activated carbon capsule is effective for up to 100 liters (26 gallons), or the equivalent of 3 months of continuous use. Replacement filters are available for sale separately. Made of BPA-free Tritan, the LifeStraw Go bottle is extremely durable. The food-grade silicone mouthpiece is flexible which prevents it from chipping or cracking, and is removable for easy cleaning. Use the carabiner to attach to your backpack, or store in your preparedness kit to ensure access to safe, clean drinking water in an emergency. Capacity is approximately 22-ounce. For each LifeStraw purchased, one child in a developing community receives safe drinking water for an entire school year.

How did we get our start?
It all began with a simple idea: a mesh filter designed as a straw to fight guinea worm disease. In 1994, LifeStraw partnered with The Carter Center to design a simple mesh filter to remove Guinea worm larvae from drinking water. Since then we have designed water filtration for outdoors and home.
What makes our products unique?
Every LifeStraw product removes bacteria, parasites, and microplastics.
Why do we love what we do?
We have humanitarian roots and believe that impact matters. To us, it's not just water filters, its ensuring equitable access to safe water for all

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Last summer, I embarked on a solo hiking trip across a remote mountain range. While I had packed ample water for the journey, a series of wrong turns and misjudged distances left me stranded, with my water supply dwindling faster than anticipated. By the third day, I was down to my last few sips and the anxiety was palpable.
Stumbling upon a stream, my initial relief was overshadowed by the realization that untreated mountain water can be riddled with harmful pathogens. That’s when the LifeStraw bottle became my beacon of hope. Filling it up, I was able to drink confidently, knowing that the advanced filtration system was removing any harmful bacteria and parasites. Each sip tasted clean and free of any murky aftertaste.
Thanks to the LifeStraw bottle, what could have been a dire situation turned into a manageable challenge. Today, not only do I consider it an essential part of my outdoor gear, but I also cherish it as a symbol of resilience and innovation. It’s a testament to human ingenuity, ensuring that safe drinking water is accessible even in the most unpredictable situations
Remember that part of the reason this offering is more expensive than a similar Sawyer product (I got some minis too-different application) is that a portion of their profits go towards delivering water filtration capability to people that really need it. That's more than worth the miniscule markup over the competition if you ask me!
Now, that being said I personally feel that the regular lifestraw's utility is limited as anything more than a backup but it is basically unbeatable as a backup. The only stuff you'll find in wild water that can kill you in short order is organisms, unless there's been an industrial accident, and this gets rid of basically all of em'. If virii are a concern where you're going, take appropriate additional precautions, or suffer the consequences. Most places that have a real problem with that, you'll be able to find out ahead of time fairly easily.
Anyway so the fibrule filter element in this thing (same as the one in the regular lifestraw) will filter organisms and sediment for a long time as long as you don't freeze it, bang it around too much, and remember to back-flush regularly.
Other things you might want to remove from your drinking water are heavy metals and chemical contamination. Also salt, but this does not do that, you need a distiller or a reverse-osmosis machine or other magical things.
The carbon filter will remove (by absorption and bonding) most things like pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and a lot of other harmful stuff, things that will not necessarily be removed by distillation, if the contaminant's boiling & condensation points are similar enough to that of water and/or your distiller design prevents their escape/removal whilst gaseous.
However, it too will not appreciably remove heavy metals, nor fluoride, and some other stuff (hexavalent chromium is a big one I guess) if you care about those things a lot. Those need the distiller.
So, this bottle provides:
(1) a readily carried (high quality construction btw, very well made) reservoir of water, that can be collected expeditiously and stored "dirty." That's convenient!
(2) Thoroughly tested and provably effective, long lasting physical filtration of biological hazards from the water.
(3) Effective and inexpensive removal of organic chemical contamination via the carbon filter.
(4) Substantial philanthropic utility at minimal additional cost.
If you want this bottle to be a part of a pretty comprehensive filtration system, running distilled water through should pretty much score a royal flush, purity-wise. I am no expert in filtration nor have I tested that claim, but from what I know it should be accurate. Please comment if you feel that is not the case!
Don't forget to backflush and change your carbon filters, also read the dang directions and precautions!
