All straps decayed in four years. They now tear like newspaper. This is an unacceptable product due to its short useful life. Only used twice. Stored in-doors with no UV exposure. Since the straps are riveted on or sewn in place repairs will be extremely difficult and expensive.

The case looks very nice and seems quite sturdy. I took my bike on a flight from the US to China and had no issues. My racing bike fit easily into the case and was very well protected. Previously, I had used cardboard bike boxes to transport my bike, but it was always almost impossible to manage the box plus any luggage. For this trip, I was able to easily roll my bag with one hand and pull the bike case with the other which was really nice. I had no issues whatsoever with getting around with my case.

After the trip, the case shows no signs of wear. There are no scratches on it and it seems just as sturdy. The only issue I had is that TSA (since they only hire the best of the best) were unable to figure out how to put the box back together after they inspected it. While the over/under lapping style of the case makes it very sturdy, it can be hard to get together just right. Additionally, the large luggage strap is VERY sturdy, but the mechanism takes more than a second to figure out. Needless to say, the slightly complicated mechanism was a little too much for TSA, and when I got my box back, it was sadly held together with duct tape :(. Still, that was not a problem of B&W's bike box, but rather TSA. Even with the duct tape holding it together, my bike arrived safe and sound at its destination and TSA did no permanent damage to the box.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and I look forward to taking my bike on more trips in the future.

This is a great bike box for the money but be sure to work with TSA to ensure that it is put back together properly after inspection. The overlapping sections are smart but too subtle for TSA agents to figure out without assistance. If they pack it wrong, the contents may be damaged or items may fall out.

I liked the protection, but TSA had trouble reassembling the case after they checked it. I am very happy with the product.

I previously gave this box a negative review because the buckle broke and the wheel fell off on the first use and I found the case to be fairly flimsy. However, the seller responded by sending me a new strap/buckle and a new wheel. I'd like to revise my original review based on this, but cannot find it on the site. So I'll say this--you get what you pay for. This is a low end case, but it's also really inexpensive. If you're planning a couple of trips and checking your bike, pack it carefully, follow their instructions and perhaps use some additional materials, including packing tape, just in case you, too, have buckle issues. It should be fine. If you're looking to do a ton of trips with your bike and need something that can go the distance, consider investing in a more robust solution.

We're expanding our biking experiences by taking our own bikes on tours, so a bike case is a must. This hard case was the most economical at the time of purchase, so we took the plunge. There are a number of reviews that expressed reservations about how the shells interlocked, but once you open and close it a couple of times, it's very easy to manage. I also read comments about TSA not being able to put the case back together properly, so I labeled with paint pen how each section of the case overlapped with the other half. For our trip to Vermont, the cases were treated as regular luggage and never opened. Other than the bulk, they were fairly easy to manage.
If I have any critiques, it would be the lack of a second handle on the back of the case, and the overall weight.
There is a front handle for pulling, and one on the side right next to the front (which doesn't seem necessary). It's difficult to pick the case up without a second handle on the back side.
There's really no way to make the case lighter, so you can't put much more than the bike in without going over 50 pounds. We have carbon fiber bikes, and even then we couldn't put anything other than our helmets and some minor lightweight items in with the bike. Lesson learned as we had to open them in the airport and remove shoes and clothing to make the weight. Overall, very happy with the case and looking forward to our next trip.

protected my road bike very well on 4 trips so far (plane and train), easy to roll on. Don't rush packing your bike in this one. Do it with ample time before your travel, or you may be stuck as it isn't so easy, (same for other types of bike cases, I suspect). Add bubble wrap or pieces of cardboad between frame, fork and components inside. Could do with an additional bag inside to put smaller components. I managed to fit in there the bike + a bike lock and helmet. Don't overload it though.

5.0 out of 5 stars B&W Bike Box II - These are really great
Reviewed in Canada on November 1, 2018
Fast delivery from Amazon, bought 2 boxes for my wife and I, very easy to put together.
These are light, so no worries at the airport scale.
We were travelling with a large group of cyclists and our boxes were the easiest to move around. The wheels are strong and the front wheels turn easily.
Once the 2 panels are put together using the 4 corner straps and the long circumference strap, there is no way the box can open during transit since there is no expose locking system that can get damage.
I have a 59.5cm bike frame and it fit well inside the box. However I did remove my rear derailleur for extra protection.
For my wife 54cm frame, we only had to lowered the seat. Handlebar do need to be remove in all case.
B&W has improve this bike box II from an already good product, and that at a very attractive price.
I recommend these boxes if you are planning to travel extensively with your bike, and you can count of B&W after sale customer service.

Mr. James West
5.0 out of 5 stars A well-built and well-priced box.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2017
I needed something to transport a bike on a recent holiday, as rental in the resort was quite expensive. I didn't fancy a bag so settled on a box. This box was one of the cheaper ones available so I went for it and have no regrets.

The printed instructions were not very straightforward, so I looked up more detailed instructions online. They recommended removing the rear derailleur. That might have been necessary for the older style box, but this one has a newer fabric and velcro strap which wraps the mech to the frame so removal wasn't necessary. Equally most instructions recommend removing the saddle and seatpost, but this isn't necessary if you slacken it and drop it down.

Dismantling the bike took sometime the first time, but was much easier for the return trip because I knew what I was doing. The interlocking system to fasten the two shells together also took a bit of working out, and I needed a helper the first time, but having done it once I can easily manage it myself now. The case is very easy to pull, with smooth running wheels making it easier to manage than my suitcase. Beware the size though. We struggled to get it on a train and a taxi at Glasgow Airport refused to take us because of the size. Two different people asked me if it was a piano!

So all-in-all a very useful product. Cheaper than some of the more sculpted ones, easy to manoeuvre, and most importantly it got my favourite bike abroad and back without any damage. Allow some time to pack it initially, be aware of the space requirements and make sure you know where the airline collects and drops off oversize luggage.
