The attention to detail/voice acting is far beyond anything ever done before. The story, characters, hunting, gathering, cooking, crafting, gunfights, treasure-seeking, collectibles, mini games (horseshoe throwing is gone), random encounters, even shopping and riding horses are all very well done. Arthur Morgan is interesting and easy to like, rivaling John Marston himself.
The game relies on the player taking the time to appreciate and explore the game world, so rushing from one mission to another will leave you with only about half of the full experience by causing you to miss optional side-quests and events. I actually felt sad at times when things were going bad in the storyline because it just made me care that much. My only hope is that the online portion is more similar to original Red Dead’s multiplayer than the griefer-paradise that was GTA V Online.
Definitely a must-buy for open-world fans, but the bonuses/extra mission from the Special Edition weren’t worth it at all and I mostly avoided using them.
Red Dead Redemption was my all-time favorite game so RDR2 had a lot to live up to. I am 12 hours into the game and I am both amazed and frustrated. The massive open world is truly amazing and beautiful; a stunning achievement in so many ways big and small. The detail that has been put into the environment makes me shake my head in wonder.
Like in the first game, the story thus far is interesting and the characters fully developed. Although playing the original game is not a requirement, if you have played RDR you will recognize a lot of characters. Unlike the first game, these characters are not as weird or extreme, but just as interesting.
The missions thus far are well done and interesting; I have not been disappointed.
A lot of people have no doubt reviewed what they love about this game, so now I am going to put my critical hat on and offer some blunt feedback on the disappointments.
The controls and game mechanics in many places are difficult; unnecessarily so. Basic weapon selection and switching frustrates me to no end.
There are more button and button combinations to remember in this game than any other game I have played.
Upgrades have so far not been possible. It took a long time just to figure out how upgrades were done at all (it varies depending on what you are upgrading). Many basic aspects of the game are buried and the Help is of limited use in trying to make sense of it.
There is a strong survival element to this game, which I thought I would enjoy but do not. The character must regularly eat and sleep to recover from battles or even basic activities. Ditto for feeding and taking care of your horse. You must also regularly clean your guns or they do not perform as well.
Hunting is much more difficult than in the previous game. Animals just seem quicker and more nimble than before and can detect you from longer distances. How you kill the animal makes a big difference on what the pelt is worth. I have landed two shots on an animal and still it is able to run off; it doesn't slow down or leave a blood trail. So head shots are a must. If you use a gun to kill the animal, the pelt is rated "Poor" and you get peanuts for it. This makes earning money more difficult; which in turn makes upgrades more difficult.
After the initial couple of missions you end up setting up a camp with the gang and this is where it gets confusing. It's not really clear what all the icons mean or what you are supposed to do. You basically have to wander around camp and out side of camp and figure everything out. Depending on how soon you stumble into something, you could wander around for hours and the game gets really boring.
I hope they revise the weapons access mechanic as it needs an overhaul. If they did that I could fudge my way through the rest of the disappointments. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to like about this game, but the game mechanics and choices they made with the controls really take away from the experience in a big way.
Also, I can pet my horse(s) and all the dogs. What more could you want?

Gran juego, aunque empieza algo lento y se aleja de la "formula" de Rockstar sin duda es un juego que estara en la cima mucho tiempo.
