My favorite aspect of this Tele is the neck. The 12” radius is great for players that prefer a modern feel over vintage, while the rolled fret edges are a comfortable feature for everyone. The neck felt and played amazing out of the box. The frets were wonderfully smooth and no truss rod adjustment required.
The noiseless pickups are a matter of taste. As with most noiseless single-coil pickups, there’s a compromise. Many people will find these pickups sound good and have that unmistakable Telecaster twang. Others will find them duller and flatter compared to classic Tele pickups. Personally, I like them; the noiseless feature comes in handy while recording at home or dealing with crazy electromagnetic field situations at a gig. With some EQ adjustments, you can get a great Tele sound.
The other Player Plus features are nice to have and add to the overall package. I appreciate the locking tuners, push-pull pickup selector, treble bleed circuit, USA-style string tree, block saddles, and gig bag. People that don't care about these features and/or prefer a more classic neck radius will be better served by the Player line. For my wants, I'll take Player Plus over Player any day of the week.
As mentioned above, I believe that this guitar’s value is questionable. From a price/performance perspective, you can get T-style guitars that are just as good for a lower price from G&L Tribute, Schecter, and more. For the same price, Reverend’s Pete Anderson T-style guitars offer more for the money. However, if you’re the type of player that often sells guitars to get new ones then this guitar will have much better resale value. For better and worse, the name on the headstock matters to a lot of people.
To be clear, I’m enjoying this guitar a lot at the discounted price I paid for it. It plays great and delivers the Tele sound that I'm looking for (with some EQ flourishes). However, at full MSRP, you can find better for same price.
