Have learned Lightroom from YouTube videos, which makes it very hard to go back later and review a technique or concept. This book has everything for the beginner laid out in a progressive, organized and thorough manner. I am not quick with computers (or even thinking on some days) and have been loving the slower pace of the many instructional videos that are a part of the online portion of this book. Don't want slow, then just use the text. Highly recommend this book for people who are phlegmatic and desire each step laid out clearly rather than just clicking your way around until you figure it out.

Unlike the previous review of this book, the paperback IS indeed for the "Classic" version of Lightroom Classic CC (2019). In the introduction is does make reference to the Web and Mobile versions of Lightroom CC, but only to point out that these three apps are integrated together and can be synced with Adobe's Creative Cloud. After registering your book, you'll have access to the lesson files and the web version of this title.

Even in the days before digital photography, I never took a picture that didn't require some form of editing in the dark room. One of the advantages of digital photography is that I now have capabilities for editing far beyond anything that existed before, without having to wonder around in the dark, or splash around in a bunch of chemicals. Perhaps the foremost of the digital editing tools is Adobe Lightroom Classic CC which not only provides the way to edit images, but also allows you to manage a collection of images so that they are easily retrievable, printable, and even uploadable to sites on the Internet. However, even though Lightroom is more instinctive than some other editors, a first look at the interface can be scary.

Luckily, the creators of Lightroom Classic CC have provided a training workbook. If you work through the chapters and exercises, you will have a relatively complete knowledge of the software. One can download a number of images from the internet that the book will use to talk you through the tools. The explanations are clear and easily understandable.

But wait. There is more. If you register the book, you can go on line for the book's content. Everything that is in the book is on line, but the sections also begin with videos that demonstrate what the following text will explain in writing. If you learn better with videos than text, you have a choice. I downloaded the work files, opened Lightroom on my computer, then opened my browser and went to the on-line workbook. I could either read, or watch a demonstration, and then jump back to the open Lightroom and work out the exercises myself. Doing this, I didn't even have to juggle the book on my knee while sitting at my computer desk! There are also brief multiple-choice questions to answer on line. Both paper and on-line editions include portfolios by some of the photographic greats like Joe McNally and Gregory Heisler

Even though the book covers the Lightroom tools, it doesn't give a lot of hints about the aesthetic choices that are available. It's easy to see when a photograph is a little over-exposed, or when you might want to pull up a little more detail in a shadow area, but Concepcion doesn't teach you the aesthetic possibilities that are in Lightroom to help you realize a vision. Come in Gombrich and Adams.

There are a few things I would have emphasized a little differently. The author loves to organize with collections. I rely mostly on keywords. Both are covered, so read and learn and develop your own workflow.

Although beginners will benefit the most from this book, experienced users will find explanations of the newer tools like creating HDR panoramas and range selections, and even though I've used Lightroom since its first release, my memory was still refreshed about a few techniques that help my work.

source to answer a specific question you might have. The answers to your questions might be in there somewhere, but you will have a hard time finding them other than to take the full classes. You might be better off starting with good online instruction.
