I haven't gotten that far yet but so far the game is living up to my expectations. The graphics are very good (although there is some lag during cutscenes at times). The music is great, and of course the voice acting is still one of the best I've heard in a video game. I can't give anything away about the story since I haven't even finished it and don't want to spoil any of it but it's looking like it's going to be fantastic as well.
The gameplay of Mass Effect 3 isn't anything revolutionary by any means but it's still a very fun game to play. Using powers is as fun as ever, there's nothing more satisfying than lifting an enemy in the air and slamming him into a wall. The shooting in the game feels mostly the same as the 2nd, which means it's fun but not spectacular by any means. I'm actually getting annoyed at times by how the "X" button has so many functions, (sprint, roll, get into cover) especially now that enemies have grenades. I've already died a couple times when the enemy chucks grenades at me and I want to roll away but I end up getting stuck in cover. It's annoying but it wont' stop me from enjoying the game.
The addition of multiplayer has been great as well. It's been a blast to play teaming up with people to fight online although I've only played with strangers (didn't use much teamwork). I also think they need to add a mute button online, it's been annoying having to listen to people blabber on for the whole match but I'm sure it's something that will be added soon. The multiplayer doesn't seem too deep by any means but it's understandable with how much content there is in single player. The multiplayer is fun while it lasts, but it's not something I can see myself playing long after I've gotten tired of the single player.
**Update**
Finished the game a couple weeks ago. The ending was pretty bad but it did not ruin the series for me as it did for others. I probably wasn't as invested into the series as most other people were so while the ending was bad, the rest of the game was great.
The graphics are astoundingly good for a console game, and the gameplay is tight. The skills are varied and balanced, and once you get the hang of things, killing reapers couldn't be more fun. There's many big turning points in the game where you decide the fate of entire civilizations. No game save for the first Dragon Age has been this epic in it's scope and so precise in it's execution. And never before will a game make you sit at a dialogue choice for minutes wondering... what do I do what. do. I. do?!
For someone of advanced thought processes, some of the tough choices may seem a bit heavy handed and contrived, but about as good as a story can get when it's trying to give you a tough choice (because the truth is, in real life choices are never so gray as literature in it's various forms wants you to believe).
Anything less than 4 stars for a game like this is a joke. Even if I didn't like the genre, the company, EA, the ending, or quarians, I couldn't rate it below that.
In my opinion, I think the story isn't over. I don't think that was the conclusion. I don't know why, and I don't know how they plan to implement a final chapter, but that wasn't it. Even if they never release anything else ME related, I KNOW that wasn't the intended ending. Read below only if you don't mind spoilers.

In the perfect ending, shepard wakes up in rubble. It's not crucible/techy rubble, it's building rubble like he was surrounded with BEFORE going in the beam. What he saw when he got knocked out was some sort of vision. A final vision with the boy that haunted him since he saw him die on earth. It's the completion/closure of that cycle that they fed to us every so often in the story. It's possible that the boy and his vision are more than just a dream, like a prothean message, or a revelation, or some sort of reaper delusion to mislead him (I doubt this one as they thought he was dead at this point). But it wasn't what happened.
Also, the fact that you need a certain readiness level, and to reject entirely the survival of the reapers in your own mind in order to wake up and see that bit of ending indicates that you 'break' free or through willpower refuse to die there on the battlefield, and the readiness means that a real war against the reapers will be fought. At the very least, this had to be what was intended at some point during game/story development.
I hope that it's not some lame DLC that finishes the fight, but a full fledged game, or half-game, or expansion, but who knows. I will be glad as long as it gives me the same amount of enjoyment per dollar that this Massively Effective series has.
And I thought it was better than the giant Terminator at the end of ME2. FFS what were they thinking with that one?
