Had been an HP fan - but after horrible experiences with their new printers I decided it was time to get real. After reading a lot of reviews and technical information I took the plunge and WOW this is an incredible printer!!! I confuse printed digital photos printed with my PIXMA with the original store printed pictures! I took some 20 year old faded Polaroids and cleaned them up in Photoshop and printed them twice their original size on Canon Pro paper - and they were absolutely stunning! GOOD JOB CANON!

Using the software that is a plug in for Photoshop really makes a difference. I used many different devices to have what I see on the monitor come out the same when printing. It may take a little longer than my old Epson 2200 printer but it's worth the wait. I have printed a few 13x19 prints and I was super happy with the results.

As a general purpose color printer, it sucks. My Dell 1320 color laser printer delivers consistently fast, high quality output with no screwing around. However, if you want to spend the time screwing around, then the Pro-100 can give you really outstanding results - but you do have to screw around to get the color balance, contrast, ..... and printer medium to produce that work of art. With the Dell, you just hit the print icon on your desktop and you get the 90% of perfection; however with a limited selection of medium - in part, because the thicker stuff won't go through all of its rollers. With the Pro100, you can print on thick, nicely coated, print medium. If you print a lot of really nice, artsy stuff, then the Pro100 is worth it. If you only do it occasionally, then the printer head dries up and you have a paper weight.

We shipped the printer back because it WOULD NOT print 5x7 card stock which was the purpose of order this printer. We shipped it back in the box with packaging as it was delivered to us. In addition, I had our IT people spend several hours trying to get this to operate. I would never order anything from this supplier! We deserve a full credit - not 50% - it was not damaged when we shipped in back in the original packaging.

It is my recommendation to not order this product or from this supplier.

The printer is quick and quiet. The print quality is excellent!!
Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2019
After the printer was set-up, during the print-head alignment, I noticed that the print head was abrading the paper. I set the machine to the "prevent paper abrasion" setting and retry-ed printing to no avail. I had to return the printer and I was re-imbursed for the cost, less shipping. I have my original Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer which is still in need of maintenance, but the cost of repair exceeds the cost of a brand new printer. The Pixma Pro-100 is an exceptional printer and it's a shame that Canon will not longer support this product.

This printer is the sixth Canon Pixma Pro100 Printer I have bought that needed replacing. This time I purchased Asurion warranty protection plan sold by Amazon. I am now one month without my printer and I am a freelance photographer and work for myself. I have lost income due to this horrible experience. I would never buy this printer again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing prints
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 28, 2013
Arrived very well packaged. Very heavy so you may need some help unpackaging and placing the printer, also a fairly large surface for it to sit on. Set up was easy, it took around 40 minutes and the intructions were very straight forward. Wi-fi has worked seamlessly, even from my mobile phone. This was my first foray into A3 printing and Im so glad I finally took the plunge (have wanted an A3 printer for ages!). The quality of the prints both in colour and black and white has blown me away. I have so far used Canon, Ilford and Permajet papers and results on all 3 were brilliant, particularly the gloss and lustre papers. Im not a professional photographer and my lap-top monitor hasnt been calibrated, but so far, this hasnt been a problem with prints looking exactly as I expect them to. Ink consumption so far has also been fine. I would definately recommend this printer to anyone considering an A3/A3+ sized printer, you wont be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars On Opening The Box.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 28, 2012
Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Professional Photo Printer

Hi all,

OK, not used this printer yet but I thought I'd just review it as I go through the setup ect.

Box is well suited for the job and offers good protection of the printer all round. Straight out of the box the printer looks great, very heavy and of solid construction.

After removing all the packaging and protective bits and bobs I'm now ready to install the printer. Referring to the getting started guide and reading it through once, it all seems straight forward. Following the instructions step by step I've managed to power up the printer, fit the print head and install the ink cartridges. Roughly taking me 15 minutes.

Time now to install the software and drivers from the disk, all have installed successfully.
At this point the program asks me to do a print head alignment, this seems straight forward but I realise I don't know where to load or how to select the paper size!
Pressed the back button and the execute button to perform the alignment is greyed out. Hmm, maybe me or not don't know. Cancelled this, skip registering and filling out the survey thing.

Found out where to load the paper and now carrying out alignment and nozzle checks ect. Having to run a clean to get full print across the colours. That done and all now seems to be in working order.

Having browsed through the information on included with the CD I can say it seems really comprehensive and from what I've seen of Canons software and printer interface I can't wait to get working with it!!

Ink cartridges look small for such a large printer but looking at the construction of them there does seem to be more ink in them compared to Epson cartridges, only time will tell! :)

As there is so much to look at in the way of software that comes with the printer and the fact I have to get used to it, setting profiles ect it would be unfair to try and rate the print quality at this point! So far I am very pleased with it, here's hoping it isn't an ink guzzler like all my other Epson printers!!

Ok, printed a few and im happy with the results except for the auto correction which is OTT on the red/orange side. Canon have information about ink yields on their website.

Ink yield, which, on face value looks to be 10 times more than my other printer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Prints - too bad grey head is miss-aligned
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 31, 2013
I would have potentially rated the Pro 100 4 stars if it wasn't for the alignment issue.
after my first A3 print the photo was brilliant at first then I realized that there was a bleeding smudge on the black area of my photo, then the horizontal streaks were obvious. Bottom plate cleaning, nozzle cleaning, deep cleaning, head alignment, re-alignment over and over and over couldn't help. Then after I sent scanned copies of the head alignment results to Canon support they asked me to take the printer to be serviced, this is when i decided to return it to Amazon to be replaced.
guest what I did first with the replacement? you know it, I printed head alignment test and.... yes you guest it, the same coloumn (H) was not aligned beyond repair.
After I publish this review I will be asking for a refund not a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 8, 2013
I have been printing with a Pixma iP4850 to size A4 and have been very happy with the results. I got this so I could expand to size A3 and even A3+ and it does not disappoint. My first print, which was an A4 size, did not disappoint while my first A3 print blew me away.
I have calibrated my screens and the prints look very much like the images I see on screen with no need to lighten or darken the printouts, so very happy :)
It's a heavy beast but well worth it I think, the Pro 1 was just that much more than what I wanted to pay. The Pro 10 again a little more than what I wanted to pay but I was put off by the fact in a review of these three printers, the Pro 10 produced dark prints while the Pro 1 & 100 did not.
If you have spent the money on a decent camera then you need to spend some money on a decent printer. Looking at images 'on screen' is all well and good but you can't beat a print and you definitely can't beat a BIG print :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressed with the quality
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 3, 2014
I'm a semi professional photographer whose been looking to make his own prints for quite some time, to have complete control over the process of creating an image and then printing it. The Canon Pixma Pro 100 is an excellent printer, it produces vivid images using Canon papers. I've yet to try papers from ilford etc but I'm sure the results will be just as good.
The foot print of the Pro 100 is quite big and it's quite heavy at 19kg (26kg net weight in the box), but as long as you
have a suitable table to keep it on, then it's not much of a problem. Canon have helpfully packaged the printer in such a way that you have handles to lift it out of the box and to carry it. While the Ink appears expensive, the quality of the finished prints is as good as what you can get from various print suppliers. Printer setup is best done using the supplied USB cable, then you can set it up for Wifi or an Ethernet connection. I recommend downloading the mini setup tool from Canon, as it makes connecting the printer to Wifi or Ethernet much easier.

Who would I recommend this printer to ? Photographers who want to take control of every step of creating a photograph from taking it, editing in Lightroom/Photoshop to printing it.
