Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Okay, I have to say I have been nervous to purchase a Japanese Wii U. Why? Because I can't read Japanese, but do understand speech. So after seeing that Xenoblade Chronicles X was releasing in Japan this month on April 29th I decided I could no longer wait. Man I'm glad that I did! It's not even hard to understand the system navigation and it works with American external hard drives and credit cards. I use google translate whenever I get stuck on something I don't know and Have not ever been frustrated. People have already translated Xenoblade X Moves and basics structure I need to fully enjoy the game. I am playing Fatal Frame V and have not got stuck once.
This system will do what you need it to do and that's play Japanese games. Indeed, for me personally Xenoblade X made this console a definite purchase. You need to decide if you don't know Japanese how much your willing to translate to understand the game. I will tell you that Google translate makes it easy. Understanding the story is not going to happen either if you don't speak it either. But you could always watch someone translate the story on YouTube.
Had this console for a few days now at the time of post. While anyone seeking this already knows, the J-region console will ONLY play J-region games per the region lock. At this time of post there is no known custom firmware work around this.
I'd also like to note that there is NO language change option. So hope you can read that Japanese in its full Hiragana, Katakana, and General Kanji goodness! Or have a great friend to help you out.
I got this console to play project zero 5. Fatal Frame as known in the states, I have put in quite a few hours and the game is amazing on the Nintendo Wii U! Smooth graphics, no hiccups so far, and the overall experience with the console is nice especially once you get online and enjoy all the J-content!
For people out of the country I'd highly recommend this product for anyone who loves the Japanese subculture and is in the process of learning Japanese or already knows a great amount. As well as play Japan only Wii U games which in my case, is Project Zero 5!
How great it is to live in the future. I got a Japanese Wii on Amazon for the karaoke app. I'm able to buy Japanese WiiU credits with an American credit card. Perfect. Also, accepts USB hard drives to increase capacity. Awesome. My favorite Nintendo product since the gamecube.
The system came in pristine condition, not a ding or dent on the box. Not gonna lie, I bought it solely for Xenoblade X, but I've fallen in love with some other Japanese-only (so far) games as well. Looks good next to my black American Wii U.
It only comes with the main unit without the gamepad and power adaptors. It is stated as a basic set but nothing else is included, making it unusable. Different from the picture of the item description.
