But with this model, you better only be at your desk three hours a day, or your warranty is void.
It really defeats the purpose, and that could be three hours at max speed or three hours at normal walking speed.
Other than that, the shipment was professionally handled and delivered to my second floor office. Noise wise when my heavy butt is walking on it, there is a hissing from the belt friction against the deck, but otherwise it is silent. No motor noise, no noise other than my clomping along as I walk.
I have been unable to get the bluetooth stuff to work with my Mac, so take that for what you will. I did discover that a Fitbit One will not register your steps if you're wearing it unless you get up to at least 1.4 MPH.
I've been using it for a week now, and on the 7th day it started making a horribly loud groaning noise. No matter what speed, and if I'm on it, it gets much worse. When you start it and brin git to the speed you want it sounds like a hurricane siren is being wound up by hand. No matter what I've tried to do, it only gets worse. I contacted support, and based on my mechanical ineptitude and their lack of questions they had me adjust the back roller. While doing that, I figured out the noise was coming from the front, not the back. That hump at the front that covers the motor had been bonked by my foot a few times while walking in place. Apparently, that was enough to dislodge it so that it pressed down onto something spinning inside and that was making the noise.
I pried it up some, and it stopped rubbing. There is no adjustment here so I wedged something there to make it stop rubbing so it would keep working. So far, so good.
But my adjustments to the belt at their recommendation now means the entire thing is out of whack. So now almost daily after no more than a mile or two the belt starts sliding to the left until it bubbles up. I then spend 30m futzing around with it to get it back in place, and no matter what I've tried so far it still wanders over. So I get to screw with this for a while.
I dunno, but for $799 I expect a bit better. Returning it will be a massive pain, and so is messing with it. So I guess I'll stick with it because I can't find anything else to replace it at the moment.
Some things I wasn't expecting:
- The motor is small and has a "shelf life" so the manufacturer states 3 hours' use a day maximum to get a couple of years' use out of it. I'm hoping this is on average as I travel quite a bit, so it will have many idle days and then days when I'm on it a lot.
- You need 100 percent silicone spray for lubrication under the belt every 50 hours, starting with your first use. It's not expensive, but I had to run to the hardware store to pick some up when it arrived, as none comes with it. It's not as easy to pull the belt up as it looks in the manual; I had to lever it up with a screwdriver to spray beneath it.
Also, we built a treadmill desk from a 2'x3' feet piece of plywood, some 2"x2" for the legs, and some 1/2 inch by 2' lengths of wood as bracing strips. The desk is 46 inches high (a height that I assessed for me, 5'5", on the treadmill). It's not beautiful, but it's sturdy, big enough for my laptop, phones, coffee, and the treadmill remote. And it only cost $42 for the materials (wood, plywood, hardware).
Finally, other reviews are correct--the distance, calories, and number of steps counted are all completely wrong. But the time you walk is correct and that's really all you need (if I walk 3 hours at 1.2 miles an hour, I know I've walked 3.6 miles, even if the device tells me it's 7 miles, for example). This is not the treadmill to get if you're incorporating walk-working into a true fitness schedule. But for something to keep you on your feet and moving when otherwise you'd be sitting, it does the job very well.
