I haven't used the Logitech G600, so I can't compare which mouse is better, but it looks like I'd probably prefer the Razer Naga 2014. Still haven't tried the Logitech G600, but tried the 2012 version at a friends place and used my bro's Hex before.
tl;dr the first part
Pros:
-19 buttons total
-One size fits most hands
-Easy to tell which buttons are which on the side
-Synapse allow tons of customization to the mouse's function
-8,200 DPI
-Congrats Razer Naga 2014, first MMO mouse with a lefty edition ^_^
Cons:
-The the other versions are cheaper right now (Excluding Epic)
-No wireless (doesn't affect me, but some people likes their wireless)
-No adjustable side panels like 2012 and Epic
Preferences:
-Nice finish imo, not slippery. Finish is matte btw and has a rubber part for your pinky to rest on.
-The finish isn't glossy :( But I think it's for the better
-the glows are amazing :3
Comparisons to the other popular MMO mouses
Naga 2012 (gonna add assumptions on Molten and Epic) vs. Naga 2014 vs. Naga Hex (This one is Moba, but similar enough for a comparison and also, I might add one for Logitech G600 later when I get a chance to use one)
Naga 2012:
-17 buttons total
-Side buttons aren't mechanical, so not as clicky
-Adjustable side panels
-You're gonna have to use trainers probably to get used to using the side buttons at first, well for some
-Glossy side finish, prepare to clean it when all that gunk gets on the side
-Max DPI is 5,600
-MOLTEN ONLY (Also applies to the original): Mouse 4 and 5 are located on the left click button, top left corner of it
-EPIC ONLY: There's a wireless option
Naga 2014:
-19 buttons total (The additional 2 buttons are the tilt scroll whell, left and right)
-Side buttons are mechanical, more clicky in terms of sound
-Side panel can not be adjusted
-Side buttons are easier to tell which one they are
-Side finish is not glossy, the whole mouse is matte and has a little rubber part for your pinky to rest on, keep in note that when the mouse was glossy it got dirty more easily and I don't like that personally.
-Max DPI is 8,200
-No wireless
-This mouse is wider than the other one, just fyi.
Naga Hex:
-11 buttons total (Only 6 side buttons rather than 12)
-Side buttons are mechanical, more clicky in terms of sound (Main reason why some got Hex over regular and the fact that Hex was easier to tell than the other versions, the new one shows pretty much no point to use it over the Naga 2014 other than finish and size or feel)
-Side panels can't be adjusted. T.T
-Side buttons are easy to tell which one they are (Again reason why some people prefered Hex over Regular Naga, but the Naga 2014's side buttons are also really easy to tell)
-Whole mouse is glossy and looks REALLY nice imo, but get prepared to clean it often if you get a lot of gunk on it.
-Max DPI is 5,600
-No wireless
So you can always use this comparison as a reference to which one you would want. And look through the images and think which shape would fit your hands the most, do you actually need the adjustable side panel? Think about the advantages the Naga 2012 had and think if you ACTUALLY need them or not, well the only ones it had as far as I know is it is cheaper and adjustable side panels, along with the glossy side finish. If not, then dip in some extra cash or eat a little bit less lunch and be a little more patient to get more bang with the buck if that's the case. In general 2014 is better in my opinion, but 2012 can work better for you and maybe even Hex would do fine for you. I hope this review helped and again, will try continue updating it as things go on.
- Original post-
Since then I have told my wife and other friends there's no way I'll be able to game with a regular mouse again. I also have had good support when I have had an issue with the mouse. Probably a few months into having the mouse up to (6 months), I started having tracking issues. I wanted my mouse to go to certain things but it wasn't tracking the way I needed it to and it just felt clunky. I contacted support thinking that I haven't had it that long nothing should be wrong. They ended up troubleshooting me saying that because of the firmware update or just because I didn't do a surface calibration that should solve the issue. After doing the calibration my device has worked fine ever since. I always re-calibrate when moving to another mouse pad and it has been a reliable product for about a year now. I will update this review when/if it dies.
**Update 05/08/15**
I've had this mouse for almost two years and it's still going strong.
PROS
Hardware
The responsiveness with the clicks and such are great, having extra buttons at your thumb tip is really helpful in games with WASD movement like Smite. Without this mouse my game would suffer greatly in Smite due to not being able to move as well and cast accurately. I have not had any fraying of the cords, or any non-responsive button issues after ~1.5 years of heavy use. I use this mouse and its many functions for gaming and for increasing productivity with work programs. I like the sound of the mechanical buttons and the feel of them on this mouse is far superior to the previous versions of this mouse. I ended up buying this mouse do to the raised buttons with the unique curves in order to differentiate better from them with your thumb.
Software
The software is very good. As I said in my last review if changing mouse pads or surfaces you should re-calibrate or have a calibration setting for each of those different surfaces. This mouse is very sensitive and needs to be calibrated in order to track accurately.
I have also used the macro software to create short cuts for the buttons for various software packages like excel and such in order to get to font editing or other menus easier. I have also used the macros for executing various skill combinations in SWTOR since they don't have a macro editor like Rift. They work well but take a bit to try to set up (I think they have an ingame editor that I haven't messed with much that may make it a bit easier).
Comparison
Standard microsoft mice - the ergonomics of this mouse is better than most of the cheap mice people get. Your hand is less likely to cramp after long periods of use and the extra buttons make this an invaluable asset to your computer.
Gaming mice - I have no experience with other gaming mice to date but would like to try them some time down the line to see how they compare.
Summary:
This mouse has been a faithful companion for this past year and a half. It has received a lot of use and is still going strong. The software is good and the customer support is on point. The shape of the mouse keeps your hand from fatiguing even after long gaming/work sessions. I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone just because not only can it be used for gaming, but the software allows it to be a strong productivity asset when utilized, and it's very reliable.
Top reviews from other countries
What is good about it though is that it has a grand total of 19 buttons plus you can program the scrollwheel to be another 2 instead of scrolling, 2 of the buttons are behind the wheel and not practical to use most of the time, but the wheel itself can be 3-5 buttons so I keep the out of the way ones bound to sensitivity settings. The best thing about this mouse is that you can program all of the buttons to do just about anything from clicking to keyboard or joystick buttons to unlimited length macros, I think you can even use shift, alt and ctrl modifiers as part of non-macros, it also has something like 20 configurations per preset that can be changed on the fly. The configuration software is fantastic and easy to use and there is an in game configurator that works with most games meaning you don't need to juggle between multiple windows when making custom configurations.
Other than the reliability issues I've been having, the only downside is that with 12 extra mouse buttons, this is a really tall mouse, not overly wide or long, but maybe 1.5 to 2 times the height of a regular sized mouse and takes some time getting used to the feel of it. I can see some people who don't like overly large mice or having very small hands having trouble with getting used to it, though the layout is very good and even if you have small hands, you should be able to reach everything, you'll just need to adjust your grip, even if you have big hands, it's just a really big mouse.
