An affordable yet quality case for easy building.
5 Stars
An affordable yet quality case for easy building.
I've been looking for a case that will keep my components clean, yet still provide as much airflow as possible. Also, that wouldn't break the bank. After a lot of searching, I decided to give this one a try.I'd not heard of Phanteks before, but the price was considerably less than large cases by more well-known brands. I like to tinker with my case and swap parts in and out a lot, so the bigger the case the better. This case is built well and is mostly metal. The frame and most panels are screwed on rather than riveted, so it's easy to take it apart when building in it. You can customize it to make room for liquid cooling if you want, or you can keep the optical drive bays installed if you still prefer using DVD and CD ROMs.I have two optical drives, two SATA 'traditional' hard drives and there's still room for a plug-in SSD drive in there. I do also have an SSD drive, but it is the new NVME style that plugs into the motherboard. There is room for a full-sized ATX motherboard and you still have room for a three-fan graphics card. I currently have a one-fan graphics card installed myself because it used to be in much smaller case. If GPU prices stop being crazy someday, I might upgrade the GPU.The fan situation is amazing. It comes with a 200mm fan in the front and a 140mm fan in the back. There's room for either 120 or 140mm fans in the top and bottom of the case that you can add later. The brackets in the top and bottom will hold both sizes of fans. The Phanteks website says that the top of the case will hold three 140mm fans. I have three 120mm fans in it now. The front of the case can be modified to hold two 120 or 140mm fans instead of the 200mm fan if you want. Neither of the fans that come with the case light up.In the other side of the case, there is room for cable management. It's the first case that I've owned that has this as well as the fan in the bottom. It's nice to be able to access the back side of the motherboard and to route most of the cables back there, making the other side with the window look neater. There's also a fan hub back here in which you can plug up to five fans (more if you use cable splitters). Then, you plug one more wire from the sixth spot on the hub into the 'Pump' power fan connector on your motherboard. That way, all of your case fans are controlled by the same controller on the motherboard and work together without having to have fan wires all over the main bay of the case. One bad thing about this hub though is that it can be a little tricky to remove wires once you plug them in. I accidentally damaged one of the brackets in the hub while trying to remove the wire. I got the wire to stay in by taping over it with electrical tape though. The bay where the hard drives go is in the other side of the case opposite the window, so it hides them and leaves more room in the main bay. Air from the front and top of the case still flows through here though, so they won't overheat. The little brackets that you screw the drives into are easy to work with. Much easier than the bays in my previous cases.Another thing that is much easier to deal with in this case than in previous cases I've owned, is the front bezel. It, along with the top of the case, snaps on and off easily making cleaning much easier. This is important since one of the dirtiest parts of a case can be where the air gets sucked into it.Speaking of dust, this case tries harder to keep dust out than other cases I've had. It has screens in the front bezel, top bezel, and the bottom of the case to catch most of the stuff that tries to get in. The screens are easy to wipe off when you remove them. The ones in the bottom are in pull-out trays, so you can clean them without having to lay the case on its side. This is a big case, so be sure that you have plenty of room for it on your desk. Also be sure that your desk is sturdy because by the time you finish building in it, it will be quite heavy. One little issue with it is that once I finished building it and started using it, I noticed that after I had removed the windowed side panel a couple of times, it started rattling when the fans were running full blast. I tried all sorts of things. Finally, putting a thin piece of foam that came with the computer case (probably to keep parts from rubbing together) under the middle leg on the left side. That seems to have solved it for now.Speaking of the bottom and the legs, be sure when you are using the case, to not sit it on carpet, nor to block the bottom of the case with anything since it is one of the ways that fresh air gets in the case, especially after you install a fan in the bottom. When you put a fan in there, be sure to have the back side (or ugly side) of the fan motor showing inside the case so that the fan will draw air into the case rather than blowing it out. It's by far the best case I've owned and for a great price too.

Lots of drive slots and I have a few. Easy to manage cables and as you can see if photo, places for cables to pop through. Fantastic.

It's huge but I wanted size. I GOT IT.
