So far I love this card. Arrived quickly and was packaged well and boxed in a word exquisitely (you will see what I mean when you buy one). The actual card is very will made and in an attractive package that has LED lights installed to light their logo in your computer. It is a relatively long card but is short of a full size card. Requiring two slots and a six pin power connector it might have some trouble fitting in some of the smaller ITX cases. Cooling is supplied by one fan that is ducted to force air through their heatsink. So far the fan has hardly run. Very quiet though I imagine that once under load could get louder. The video ports are 3 graphic ports a DVI and HDMI port. For reference this is in a Intel I7 with 32gb ram Optane ram and 4 Tb WD Black HDConclusion: This is a high end card that can both be used by extreme gamers and video workstations. I am the later. The gpu accelerates most programs that utilize it fantastically fast. MSI support is always pretty good and drivers for their products usually keep coming for a couple years after initial release. While 500+ at the time of this review seems like a lot, but if you compare it with the Titans and the like @ 1500.00 (Titan X) to $3000.00 for the Titan V (no comparison here) the 1080 is a bargain when you consider that the extra 1000.00 for the Titan X only buys you an approximately 15 to 20% increase in speed.

The GTX 1080 is still a beast of a video card. I game at 1440p and this video board pushes plenty of pixels to provide smooth, stutter-free gameplay at that resolution.

Upon unboxing the card, I noticed that it felt sturdy and well built. This product feels like a quality piece of hardware. Upon further inspection, I was disappointed that a video board costing $500 or more is missing a backplate.

With the MSI Aero Edition GTX 1080, cooling is only adequate at best. This is likely due to it's blower design cooler. Under a heavy load (gaming), the card quickly reaches 82 celcius, which is the default thermal target, and throttles itself to remain at or below that temperature. Now, when I say throttles itself, I don't mean that it reduces performance below stock. I have recently converted this card to water cooled by use of a NZXT Kraken G12 and a Corsair H75, but prior to that, I never witnessed this card throttling itself below stock GTX 1080 clock speeds, it simply overclocks itself less to maintain thermal control.

After converting this card to water cooled, it's performance has been stellar. I overclocked the core to 2.1ghz and the memory to 5300mhz (it will go to 5500mhz, but I chose a conservative memory OC). The NZXT Kraken G12 paired with a Corsair H75 allow me to push this card as hard as I please, and I've yet to see a temp higher than 60 celcius.

Corsair H75 (I've read that the H55 works well also)

    Pros:
    - Inexpensive (for a GTX 1080)
    - Performance
    - Build quality
    - Powered by single 8-pin connector
    - Performance (OC potential) soars if converted to water cooled

    Cons:
    - Stock cooling barely adequate
    - No backplate

I've owned this card for 2 months now and I haven't had any problems. It was the least expensive 1080 available on Amazon when I bought it. I have never owned any MSI gear before, but it seems legit. I took the cover off and disconnected the super-bright LED used to light up the logo. I just coiled up the cable inside the shroud and put it back together. Who needs all these stupid LEDs anyway? Aside from that slight annoyance, the card is great. When I had it apart I could see the cooler was very well designed and everything looked well-made (I've had almost every gen of nVidia card so I've seen them all). Witcher 3 and Shadow of War run on Ultra settings at 1080p without breaking a sweat. I'm happy with 1080p so this card should last me 5 years or more. I tried DSR at double and triple resolutions and still got nearly 60fps in everything, but I didn't notice much difference so I just run standard 1080p to keep the card cool. I have not noticed any coil whine from the card. Very stoked so far!

I was a little hesitant about buying a blower card after reading a lot of negative reviews but now that I have one, I would definitely purchase another one if I am looking to save money or space.

Basically runs just like any other 1080, plus it's cheaper and smaller.

This product doesn't overclock as well as many of the other GTX 1080's out there. I was quite alarmed that in benchmarks, this product was only doing maybe ~15% better than highly overclocked GTX 1070's, while costing 60% more. A better cooler, custom PCB layout, higher quality VRM, second 8 pin power connector all would have gone a long way to make this product great and actually a justified upgrade over a GTX 1070.

The only things I really like about this product are the extremely quiet fan, fairly nice-looking blower and the overclocking software.

I mean, it's a gtx 1080. It's not bad. However, I would recommend you invest in a different model of 1080, because the aero runs hotter than most models as it has only 1 fan. The extra cooling is likely worth your money.
