It's definitely not as cheap as some tripods out there, especially the random companies making stuff on Amazon. But it isn't that much more, and you're going to get a tripod that will last.

Would love if the legs would click and lock into each position, as when you pick the tripod up to move it the legs may swing inwards. Not a huge deal, but as I do mostly video work with a very light camera (iPhone), it would be nice to carry the tripod with the legs out and locked so I can pick up and plop down the tripod quickly as I run and gun.

Packed with features, and at reasonable price, you can’t go wrong with this Tripod, or any from 3 legged thing for that matter, that being said I’m partial to the least amount of leg sections possible, Corey is smaller but has more leg sections and 4 is my limit.
Why I got it
My Faithful Manfrotto tripod, I got on clearance from target, 9 years ago died on me. It fell over on a soft surface and one of the caps that locks the leg in place fell off and part of the threading holding the cap in place chipped.
What it’s replacing
Originally I was replacing my travel tripod that honestly has been a light stand for the last 6 months. With my Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod weighing about .5 Kg more than the Travis I believed that I would just continue using Travis as a light stand. When you take into consideration that the travis folded up is just over half the length of the Manfrotto and .5Kg/1lb lighter… Travis is my quickly becoming the tripod I throw in my trunk to grab a quick sunset, heading in to the local park/lake to take nature shots.
My experience
Once I got used to everything, I love this tripod! After getting used to everything that was different. I’m happy with it and in the future if I needed to replace my manfrotto I would heavily consider getting the 3 section carbon fiber tripod from 3 legged thing.
Pros
Arca Swiss- The fact that I can use my speed carry strap plate/ Arca Swiss L-bracket, without having to mount a Manfrotto quick release plate to the bottom of a speed carry plate.
Accessories- the fact that I can upgrade clamps independant of a new tripod head, The ability to change feet is appealing as well living in an area of the world that has substantial winters, the ability to change out Rubber feet for cleats that can better bite ice, is a huge bonus when your trying to get shots on frozen lakes and shores.
All the possible configurations!- At first the amount of things this tripod can do was intimidating, and honestly there’s some I will never use, but being able to hike in with a Tripod that weighs like 1.6 Kg… and have the option of a monopod 3 leg position and 3 center column configurations, means there’s going to be very few situations where I’m going to feel like I’m missing a tool in my tripod kit.
Head and Body bags- If you would have asked me prior to buying this tripod, what’s your opinion on tripod bags? I would have told you that I thought they were useless I cart around a carbon fiber tripod with no protection. Having the ability to protect the tripod from knicks and scratches is good. But my ability to hike in with a camera over 1 shoulder and the tripod over the other is incredibly convenient.
Cons
Twist locks- Coming from flip locks it took some getting used to.
The locks for the leg Position- They’re great for working, but breakdown can get a bit frustrating, having the legs at a 55 or 80 degree angle with the legs extended can make for an awkward time manipulating the legs to a transport position.
The company:
What sets 3 legged thing apart from other tripod companies is if one piece breaks on it, they will replace that piece for the cost it takes them to make it plus shipping. They are one of only 3 tripod companies that use their own carbon fiber. These tripods are designed by photographers for photographers so it includes features that you will actually use.

Really good quality for the price, when folded down it’s fairly small and it’s super lightweight making it ideal as a travel tripod.
I can carry it on my bag all day and not notice that it’s there
