Customers like the comfort of the kick scooter. They say the ride is pretty smooth, nice, and relatively comfortable on practically all surfaces. They also say it's easy to ride and maneuver, and the dual suspension ensures a comfortable ride. Some customers mention the ride was expected, but the poor performance on the slightest hill was disappointing.

Customers are mixed about the quality of the kick scooter. Some mention it has a great build quality, is fairly durable, and dependable overall. However, others say that it lacks reliability over time, the breaks don't stop, and it doesn't feel nearly as sturdy or safe as the spin scooters.

Customers are mixed about the speed of the kick scooter. Some mention it's fast for what it is, fast enough on level ground, and just enough for climbing steep and long uphills. However, others say that it slows down to like 5 mph and then eventually poops out and you have to push it. It also has inconsistent speed with battery charge level, and starts to suffer from more noticeable performance issues. Charging takes a while, especially with the extra battery, and the top speed drops considerably on modest uphill slopes.

Customers are mixed about the weight of the kick scooter. Some mention that it folds easily and is light enough to tote on a bus or train, while others say that it's kinda heavy and awkward to carry. The battery adds a lot of weight to the handle bar and the kickstand doesn't really.

Gets the Job Done but Cheaply Made
3 Stars
Gets the Job Done but Cheaply Made
--- Distance/Speed/BasicsI live in NYC and use this about twice a week to commute approx 45 min. The ES4 has a sport mode that allows it to hit approx 24mph so Im basically maintaining that speed for my entire commute both ways back (about 15 miles total), at which point my battery is near-empty. So it definitely gets the job done in that respect! The iOS app is a nice touch. You connect via bluetooth, can record your rides, control lighting patterns, cruise control, etc.--- Comfort/UsageBeing in NYC, the roads are fairly bumpy and not well-maintained in some areas. So first thing that I noticed is that shock absorption is basically non-existent. Going over speed bumps or sharper bumps like manhole edges are uncomfortable. I find myself having to try to do a "jump" of sorts when going over rough terrain. So in this regard, this is NOT for people that are not used to skateboarding or just regular scooters. I've had experience with both AND drive and cannot imagine what a novice/newcomer would have to deal with when first picking up this product.--- MaterialsThis is my biggest gripe. I paid a decent amount for this product and it starts to deteriorate & feels cheap.Attached is a picture where my rear brake essentially just SNAPPED off (probably due to the bumps that I'm going over). I figured out how to take off the rear wheel to replace this piece, but parts are hard to find or at least annoying to order in a timely fashion. HOW this solid piece of metal(?) just SNAPPED is beyond me.After about 3 months of use, the throttle lever on the handle bars are starting to get a bit...sticky? Or at least, I feel the plastic grinding around now when I push down on it.The rubbery materials on the board itself are GLUED on. It's fine but some areas on it are no longer sticking to the actual board itself anymore and it overall just looks crappy.Finally...the app + the lights no longer work. I do sometimes ride around near dusk/night so this really sucks.--- Final VerdictGets the job done. If you're just going on bike paths that are VERY smooth with some elevation, this product is great and gets the job done.In real-life scenarios though, I wish I passed on this and paid a bit more for something that was better made. Very dissapointed.

I had been looking for an electric scooter for 6 months. I really did my research and finally bought this brand on Amazon day when it was on sale because I liked the sleek design and the good reviews. I’m so glad I did! It's perfect for me! I’m 5’4, 130lbs, just to give you an idea for how size effects battery life (I’ve seen other reviewers commenting on battery not lasting as long if you are taller/heavier).

Here’s what I use it for: I commute 2 miles to the train station (no hills). I cut through the mall parking lot so I feel safer on the road. Where I live, electric scooters are banned from sidewalks. Beware that because electric scooters are so new to the road, not every driver will look out for you! I have had a few near scares. If side walk scooting is also banned where you live, you will need to obey the rules of the road. Stop at stop lights and stop signs. Be safe! Where a helmet and assume that people do not see you. I’ve assumed that a driver saw me, because it was my turn to cross and they did not.

This scooter folds so quickly and easily, which is great for climbing up the stairs to the train. Once I’m in the city, I scoot about 5 blocks to work. In the city, it’s easy to scoot along the roads. I can cut my way through a long red light, which cuts down on the commute. Also I don’t have to deal with parking which has been a game changer! I hate parking garages because they get backed up with people trying to get in and out and it’s so expensive! It’s soooo nice to immediately get off the road, walk on the sidewalk to my office door and ride the elevator up. DONE! It’s amazing!

When I first got the scooter, I charged it for a full day before use. I used it for 3 days before the battery was almost used up. I didn’t let it die, but it had one bar left. I don't have a long commute so I'm not using the battery that much. Also, when I'm on the train I turn the scooter off. There are also no hills on my commute so I don't know how it does on the hills.

Overall, it's great! It makes my commute so much more enjoyable than sitting in traffic. The only thing that worries me is the power button sometimes gets stuck and it keeps going! This is bad if you need to stop! But I just pull the trigger up so it doesn't jam.

The app is very confusing and I wish I knew how to work it so I can keep track of my miles and stats. It keeps saying I need to sign up, even though I have.

I bought myself one and my 10 yo boy another during the week before black Friday. Up until the snow this past week, we had been bundling up and riding all around our neighborhoods and in the city common next door and my oh my, I'm glad I got the ES4's.

I have not had a single problem with either scooter. I even bought two spare batteries as there could be a time when we go into Boston or anywhere-really, and having the extra batteries would mean that no matter where we go, we'll be able to get back either to the truck or public transportation but when it comes down to it, even though the scooters are heavy, when they are not powered they can be kicked down the sidewalks or streets.

The scooters are fast. My boy is 10 and on Sport mode, he can fly. He always wears a helmet and is a fairly accomplished dirtbike rider and skier so, I don't worry much about him being able to handle both the speed and power, which he has been. Even for me, the power is great. Fast enough on level ground and just enough for climbing steep and long uphills as we live in a neighborhood that is at the top of a series of hills or just one big hill in the city.

Battery life has been impressive, but of course, the motors and batteries are new but still, even after a good 16 to 20 mile ride, we have never come home with less than 30% and we are on Sports mode the entire time and not trying to conserve the power at all, never mind that for to get home, we have to go uphill for quite some distance. I also have set the batteries to only charge to 90% and also have a spare battery for the just-in-case-future when the weather gets warmer and we can spend all day, all night riding around.

The headlight is a very nice touch as are the lights underneath. The headlight is bright enough for riding in the darkest of nights, no problem. Having the option to have the mostly programmable light show lighting up under the deck of the scooter is a great way to see where the other rider is at night.

I'm one that actually likes the electric brake that is the left thumb. My boy and I are still getting used to the power it has when turned fully on and even when using it at different rates when summoning up the braking power. By and large, I have never even needed to use the rear, friction footbrake as I'm never a fan of having to wear away my tire, just to slow down. At the same time, it just means that the electric brake has been more than enough to keep me out of trouble. That the electric brake is regenerative, even if the amount of energy returned to the battery is negligible, the fact that some power does get regenerated, and for free, and with no wear and tear on ANYTHING, is awesome.

The spare battery on the post is a nice touch. It does make the post and feeling of the scooter different but once one gets used to it, like with anything else that people get used to, it is like there is nothing on the post. That we have the option to swap it out with another one we can carry in a backpack to get us another 10 or so miles so we can get back to the vehicle, is one of the big reasons why I chose the ES4. It is also super easy to change out the battery as the rubber bungs just get pried out, the allen wrench that came with the scooter to assemble the handlebars-which is a nice tool, a bigger plastic handled T-Allen wrench, the two bolts come out, the new batteyr goes on, making sure to just give the bottom of the battery a nice little fist bump to make sure the connections for the battery get connected and that is it.

Plus, if we ever did drain the first set of batteries, we'd ride slowly, conserving the power to get either home or back to the truck so we don't have to actually kick-scoot back.

If there is a knock, and one that my boy and I don't really mind, is that as the tires are solid, the ride is firm but easily tolerable. As we have all had Razor A5 kickscooters, compared to those urethane tired and non -suspended scooters, the ES4's ride on air. The suspensions both front and back are enough to help with the ride. There is definitely that front clacking when one hits the front wheel hard on a bump or crack, but if one is good, one just either avoids or, slows down for the bumps or cracks or, if one is really good, will just rear back and have the front wheel loft over whatever obstacle might cause the clack. My boy and I have gotten used to both the sound and how the scooters react over most terrain/pavement.

The entire scooter, minus the external battery and the fenders, is Aluminum. It is heavy duty. The handlebar controls are plastic but, Segway sells the replacements for all the handlebar parts and it would take a 2nd story fall or full speed into a wall or barrier to bend the steering stem or the deck. Even all the LED lights under the deck are recessed well into the solid aluminum chassis. The build quality is all there, at least externally.

I also like how most all the parts that make up the scooter are available. I can imagine eventually needing a new internal battery and maybe a front wheel motor but the other big reason I chose the ES4 is for all the replacement parts that can be gotten should wear and tear and time take their toll on the original equipment.

My boy has about worn out his front tire after some 70 miles as he is only about 70 lbs so when he accelerates at WOT from a stop in Sport mode, he can get the front tire to spin up to speed as he is so light. Meanwhile, my front tire is still in decent shape and the rear tires have almost no wear at all.

The app is good enough and shows me all I need to know and when the battery charger is plugged in, it will show where the batteries are with regards to %-left before fully charged.

I'll also agree with the other review that has the battery bars as being hard to interpret with how much battery life is left where the app will give one the exact amount of %-left for the batteries. I'm glad I went with the ES4 as between the speed/top speed, nice acceleration in either normal or sport mode and the great range. When I go out for a ride, I'm going out for a ride and a 10 mile or less range was not going to cut it. That we can get a good 20 miles, on mostly level ground, not needing to go slow as cruising from 12-17 mph is almost effortless, and to be able to swap out the external battery in the field to get 10 more miles, the ES4 was a good choice.

It has only been a month with the scooter and less than 100 miles. Once the spring comes and then summer and we can ride more and more and more, it will be nice if the scooters can go a few more years or even 5 years and the next generation of stuff with maybe more speed, more range and a lower price will come and I'll be 5 years older and gulp, the kids will be 14 and 15 years old.

Love it so far. Comfortable to ride with lots of features that make it fun and cool at the same time. Charge holds maybe for 9 miles and speed is 27kph on flat but anything above a 5% grade and you’re down to 11kph.

5.0 out of 5 stars MI MEJOR COMPRA EN DOS AÑOS EN AMAZON
