Set in 14th century France, A Plague Tale: Innocence follows the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo as they navigate through a world plagued by the Black Death and swarms of deadly rats. The game's visuals are stunning, with detailed environments that capture the grim atmosphere of the time period. The character models are equally impressive, with realistic facial expressions and animations that make the story all the more engaging.
The gameplay is a mix of puzzle-solving and stealth mechanics, with a heavy emphasis on avoiding the rats and using fire to keep them at bay. The puzzles are challenging but never feel unfair, and the stealth sections are tense and satisfying. The game also features a crafting system that allows you to create different types of ammunition and equipment to aid in your survival.
But what really sets A Plague Tale: Innocence apart is its narrative. The story is well-written and emotional, with well-developed characters that you grow to care about throughout the game. The relationship between Amicia and Hugo is particularly touching, and their journey is one that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
Overall, A Plague Tale: Innocence is a must-play for anyone who enjoys survival games with a strong narrative. Its unique premise and engaging gameplay make it a standout title, and its emotional story will leave you invested until the very end. Highly recommended.
Gameplay: It's mostly a walking simulator with light puzzle elements; nothing too complex, but it does get a bit more in-depth later, but never too much so. The game does hold your hand a bit with all the provisions of materials you'll need. But i'm still giving this game a 5-star (to compensate for a very ignorant reviewer giving it a 1-star just because they didn't get their DLC code from amazon when they expected it - wasted review), because it tells a wonderful and gripping story. I love how they talk as they're moving through the world as also featured in Last of Us and the newest god of war.
Definitely pick this game up if you're looking for a unique and interesting story with beautiful graphics and light puzzles.
It's pretty linear but nicely paced with lots of stealth sections interspersed with combat and puzzle elements. Story won't blow anyone away, though the setting might, but it was well executed with a great cast of characters.
About 10-15 hours long depending on the difficulty and how well you handle the combat and stealth sections, but unfortunately the replayability is quite low. It's linear but structed in a way that reminds me of Naughty Dog's recent offerings. But don't expect super bombastic action scenes or lots of combat, the game is more about avoiding combat whenever possible and using it as a last resort.
I did fall through the geometry twice in my playthrough but auto-savea are plentiful and never lost more than 1-3 minutes of my time.
Don't overlook this game if you enjoy Naughty Dog games or stealth games, you won't be disappointed.
Okay. The gaming mechanics are nothing new in this title. The crafting, the linear action, the stealth system. All something we have seen before. However, A Plague Tale does it in a fashion that makes such titles with narrative focus stand out to more big budget developers far more interested in appeasing their investors than their customers.
I enjoyed every aspect of playing as Amica. A French country noble teen thrusted into the harsh realities of medieval life in a Plague infested country torn apart by The Hundred Years War. Amica wasn't a Joan d'Arc or a warrior of any kind. Her skills with her upgradable sling and her wits will help her advancement through the many chapters. The gameplay doesn't forget a majority of this even as you learn later on to use and eventually influence the swarms of rats.
Speaking of which comes the game's best and later on, somewhat worse quality. The rats. Upon seeing the buggers devour a hapless guard to bursting out of a cow corpse, I cannot help but feel some genuine dread and revolt over the sight. Down the line and after seeing the numerous and gorgeous lighting and backdrops, the very same rat swarm becomes one of the more poorly animated elements. Now, I know that I am just nitpicking, but I do hope that the sequel can fix this and give us that same dread upon first glimpse of that undulating mass of land piranhas.

Update que oferece resolução em 4K, com ajustes visuais, gameplay com 60 FPS e suporte ao áudio 3D.
In a world where we don't always have time to play for 200 hours in order to complete a game, this 20 hours jewel will definitely be very welcomed and enjoyed.
Dark and beautiful at the same time, the difficulty is correct and the experience amazing.
I highly recommend to people who love story oriented adventure games.
Will recommend to everyone !
