I took a risk by buying a certified pre-owned phone, but now I'm glad I did. I was coming from an original Google Pixel XL phone which served me well for over 2.5 years, but recently stopped receiving security updates and was needing to be charged twice a day.
So, I upgraded to the 3XL phone to give myself another 18 months of Android OS and security updates. I did have an issue trying to activate the phone using the old SIM card from my Pixel XL phone, but I called Verizon and they were able to assist. The phone connects to the Verizon 4G LTE cellular network and works seamlessly on my 4G network extender in my house.
Aside from a broken non OEM charger and the initial activation issue, the phone has been flawless ever since.
I added an OtterBox case and a glass screen protector to further protect my phone.
Saving nearly $300-500 on a new phone and not being tied into another contract made this decision a no brainier and will be the path I take for future phone upgrades.
I may end up switching over to Straight Talk service down the road to get a better price and data plan, but for now I'll keep it on my Verizon plan.
