This is without a doubt the best game I have played ever. The character development is incredible and the visuals and gameplay are still unmatched to this day. I would recommend this to anyone, even if you arn’t a cowboy fan.

This game is not playable. My system is far beyond the required specifications but the game crashes after the loading screen regardless of what I do. I do not recommend purchasing this game until Rockstar fixes it and you see that the users on the message boards stop complaining about this. This is buggier than L.A. Noire, which was also virtually unplayable for over a year after release.

Per instructions from Rockstar and various message boards and forums that are focused on this problem, I
1. updated Windows and graphics drivers. No effect.
2. reduced graphics settings. No effect.
3. disabled my antivirus software. No effect.
4. Switched from Vulkan to DirectX 12. No effect.
5. Went into the system folder and deleted the files that Rockstar said could have been corrupted. No effect.
6. Completely reinstalled the game from scratch. No effect.
7. Tried to load the online game instead. Same crash happens at the same time.
8. Tried playing in windows mode and full screen mode. No effect.
9. Tried to run as Administrator, including Rockstar Launcher and Social Club software. No effect.
10. Every combination of the above. No effect.
11. Tried unplugging my Gamepad and every other device connected to my computer

Contacted customer support several times. Was sent an automatically generated email saying to try a few of the things above, even though I told them I already tried it. They did not respond to any other message I sent except to say that they do not give refunds under any circumstances.

Pros: Amazing open-ended play. A lot of effort went into making so many options for players. From starting out and picking your character, setting up their looks, and then choosing what kind of jobs you'll do. Amazing graphics, sound, and music will immerse you in a world that is very realistic. You can hunt, fish, be a trader, collector, bounty hunter, moonshiner, and more. You can even do some of each or a lot of one. The only thing slowing your skills will depend on the time and effort you put into developing your character.

Cons: Many people can't save their games online. I went to the trouble of buying a new computer that exceeded all their requirements. Then I followed all their FAQs and several other RDR2 sites suggestions, and I still can't save the game. Because of that I often lose my recent progress and in game items stored on my horse. Especially if the Rockstar network disconnects me. I have contacted support numerous times and I haven't seen any changes. One other issue is most the stables for horses and vehicles will freeze the game upon entering. Try not riding your horse into the stable and it may not.

08/10/23 Update: I still regularly lose pelts and carcasses on the horse so if I know I will have several I use the Hunting Wagon. Never lost them in it. I still can't save the game without it going to a much earlier point in my characters timeline. I recommend this game to anyone that enjoys anyone that enjoys games that immerse you in a large world with realistic graphics, sound, freestyle play, and lots of solo and group missions for several types of good or bad characters and plenty of roles you can play.

I haven't played the game yet (it's still downloading; get ready for a download. You're not playing this game 10min after ordering...) but I wanted to respond to the reviews from people saying they couldn't install the game. As other people have mentioned, just get the game launcher from Rockstar and input the code there. It's a very simple process. Also, for what it's worth, I decided to just purchase the standard edition because there are a lot of reviews saying the "Special" and "Ultimate" editions aren't worth it. Obviously I'm not speaking from firsthand knowledge about this point, but I felt it was worth mentioning, maybe I can save you a couple of bucks and a few minutes of internet searching. Either way, have a great day!

The screen was too small on out PC. Contacted the company they said we needed a better PC because the memory didn’t allow the screen to be full size. We purchase a gaming PC we figured we’re getting into gaming anyway. The game works great for like 5min on it then just loads forever after that. Go back to customer support but now you can’t get a hold of real people…it’s all just suggestions. All other games work great on the new gaming PC we have but this game doesn’t. Not sure if it’s the largest game ever or defective, but I will never know because they don’t have live customer support.
