Eve Cam - Secure Indoor Camera
Protect what matters most.
Keep a close eye on your home around the clock. Receive rich notifications on your iPhone immediately when something is up in your home – and protect the privacy of your personal space in the process. You decide if you want to record every motion automatically or distinguish between people and pets – and choose different settings depending on whether you’re at home or not (People/Pet recognition). The data is analyzed securely in your home, not in the cloud.
So no matter where you are, you get direct and fully encrypted access to Eve Cam thanks to your home hub (Apple TV or HomePod). Live images never reach the cloud, not even iCloud. Recordings are stored securely and fully encrypted in your iCloud.
What happens at home stays at home.
When it’s your home, it’s all about your privacy. That’s why choosing the right indoor camera is so important. Eve Cam is designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video, enabling you to securely store activity detected by Eve Cam in iCloud. It was built from the ground up to protect your privacy.
- No registration
- No Eve Cloud
- Encrypted data only
Requirements: iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS/iPadOS; HomePod or Apple TV (4th generation or later) as a home hub; Wi-Fi network (2.4/5 GHz 802.11a/b/g/n); 50 GB Apple iCloud+ storage plan or higher (not included)
Power: 5 V, 1 A max. (USB)
Wireless Connection: Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz)
Dimensions: 4.8 x 2.6 x 2.4 in (H x W x D)
Compatibility: Type A & B plug
It’s only on when you want it to be.
No matter how you use Eve Cam, you decide when it should be on and how it should operate. Set Eve Cam to automatically deactivate when everyone is home, for example. And control when you want to receive notifications.
Apple TV, HomePod, or iPad running as a home hub intelligently determines when a person, animal, or vehicle is in the video.
The clearly visible status LED always tells you if the camera is on, off or recording.
Door open, lights on.
Whether your camera’s video stream is on or not, you can use the integrated motion sensor to turn on lights and other devices. Set Eve Cam to turn on lights when the front door opens, for instance. It’s a nice way to be welcomed home – and to scare away would-be intruders.

Security has many dimensions. No one home? Protect your home from intruders: As soon as Eve Cam detects motion, you’ll get a notification on your iPhone. That way you can take immediate action if there’s an unwanted visitor while at the same time record evidence. |
Kids back home? What’s your four-legged friend up to when you’re out?Kids back home? Check whether your kids have made it home safely. They’re probably fine, but a sneak peek at home is simply reassuring. What’s your four-legged friend up to when you’re out? Is he taking a cat nap or destroying the new couch? If you’re not worried about your pet, simply turn off notifications for pet activity. |
Windows closed and TV off?Is everything ok at your vacation home? Often all it takes is a quick look inside just to be sure. |

Wi-Fi
Make sure that either the 2.4 gigahertz band or the 5 gigahertz band is enabled on your router. The DHCP function must be activated on the router. Authentication via MAC addresses must be deactivated. All WiFi-based devices with HomeKit support require the Bonjour protocol (Multicast) to work. Make sure that Bonjour and Multicast are enabled on the WiFi router and additional access points. Network tools such as "Storm Control" and others, allow multicast to be restricted and therefore Bonjour. Disable this setting. So-called Powerline/PowerLAN adapters also restrict Bonjour or do not allow it. These access points are not suitable for the use of HomeKit-based WiFi devices.
HomeKit Secure Video requires a supported iCloud storage plan (not included)
You can add one camera to your 200 GB plan or up to five cameras to your 2 TB plan at no additional cost. Camera recordings don’t count against your iCloud storage limit. Recordings are saved for ten days and then automatically deleted. If you want to hold on to a recording, you have the option to save it permanently.
Requirements

Product Description
Keep a close eye on your home around the clock. Receive rich notifications on your iPhone immediately when something is up in your home – and protect the privacy of your personal space in the process. Eve Cam is designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video, built from the ground up to keep your data secure. No matter where you are, you get direct and fully encrypted access to Eve Cam thanks to your home hub (Apple TV or HomePod). Live images never reach the cloud, not even iCloud. Recordings are stored securely and fully encrypted in your iCloud.
How does Eve Cam detect motion and trigger recordings?
Eve Cam features a dedicated infrared motion sensor to trigger motion alerts, automations and recordings. If you have configured people / pet / vehicle recognition, any motion detected by the infrared motion sensor will cause the video footage to be sent to your Apple TV or HomePod to intelligently determine whether your recording criteria is met. Please note that while the infrared motion sensor can "see" in the dark and even when you have turned the video stream off, it can't see through glass. So if there's a glass door to your front porch or there's a window looking out to your patio or yard, Eve Cam won't detect any motion behind it and thus also not trigger notifications, automations or recordings.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
1) When I initially installed the video feed was blurry. My first instinct was "crap the reviews were right" but then I realized there is no protector over the lens in packaging and it probably got dirty. Once lens wipe with a microfiber cloth later and my video feed was crystal clear. YAY!
2) You have to have a decent internet connection. The device stays private because the video is not run through a server so it is VERY dependent on your internet speed. I have 600 Mbps and no issues with the feed cutting off. Then again, it does sometimes take a hot minute to load if I have a crap mobile signal while viewing away from home.
My only complaint is that the night vision could be better but I bought a HomeKit enabled night light I can turn on if I need to.
This is normal and expected but it works just how I imagined it would. I love how it stays off until AppleKit detects that I leave. I feel safer and less spied on so I can't complain. Thanks for this awesome product!
This works well when it works. It integrates with Apple HomeKit very well once you set it up. There are two problems. One is it will decide to take itself offline with no rhyme or reason. And then will come back online by itself it’s no rhyme or reason. The second is the camera indicator light. No matter what you do, the camera indicator light turns itself back on. You can’t turn it off. So if you want it for example as a nanny cam, your nanny will know when it comes on to stream or record. Again no rhyme or reason. You will turn the indicator light off and next day. Bam. Glaring bright indicator light turns off ignoring your command.
Otherwise it is one of the best HomeKit integrations out there. Hoping that future updates will fix the spontaneous taking off line issue and the possessed indicator light issue.
One of the very first things I noticed about the Eve Cam is that there is almost no lag time between recording and playback (seriously, maybe 0.5 - 1 second tops). I’ve contemplated moving the Eve Cam into our toddler’s room to replace the Owlet camera because the lag time is incredible at times.
The high resolution and wide field of view are also significant features as well! I can clearly see my entire living room, door/hallway to the garage and into my kitchen. I sometimes set my daughter up with a movie while I’m making dinner, and this camera allows me to keep an eye on her with virtually no latency, and without having to walk back into the living room all the time.
The Eve app is incredibly easy to use for adjusting settings and automations for the Cam. We have an automation running currently where our entertainment center and lights all turn on when we walk into the living room! And of course this Cam is compatible with Apple HomeKit so we can even see a little preview of our living room on our HomeKit dashboard!

I do not recommend purchasing this camera because it is not reliable and there are other better choices.
Eve cam cons:
1. Although the Eve cam was brighter, it’s picture was fuzzier, especially when you zoom in
2. Bad night vision – the Eve cam was washed out and fuzzy, no wonder it didn’t detect motion as well!
3. Unstable connection – Viewing the Eve cam took longer to load, and would make my Homekit app crash regularly
4. Stayed in night vision far too long – The Eve cam went to night vision too early, around 6pm and stayed there until noon the next day
5. Need to download the Eve app. I hoped a software update would fix some of the issues above, but it did not.

This camera is easy to connect to HomeKit but it has a fundamental issue of not being able to show reliable image quality. I have tried this separately for 2.4G and then for combined 2.4/5. Both results in the same image with stripes most of the time (See attachment).
It also does not support Region Of Interest filter in HomeKit for motion alerts where the alerts trigger on the whole image. I have contacted Eve almost a year ago for this purpose but simply they are not interested in their product.
