Pros:
- Supports HomeKit without any bridge, 3rd Party Software. Once hooked up, enter switch number in iOS native HomeKit Home app and it programs the switch with the 2.4Ghz Wifi network that your phone is currently connected to. 5 GHz networks not supported, which makes sense. 2.4Ghz is lower bandwidth but high signal strength. After enrolling in home care and assigning it a room I could immediately activate it through my HomePods, Siri or any of my other Apple devices. Hey Siri set Living Room light to 25% - BOOM done within a second even over cellular (if you have a HomePod Mini or Apple TV 4K).
- The switch is hooked to a lamp that can physically toggle from 2:5 Lights On, 5:5 Lights on, or OfF. When dimmed to 25% with 2:5 lights on and I toggle to 5:5 lights on the switch modifies voltage or current to run those bulbs at same brightness. This is especially impressive when going from five lights on to two lights on. With the old switch those two lights would essentially be on high even though the dimmer was that low.
- I didn’t even download the Maross app to play with advanced settings yet. If you have an iPhone you first set it up over HomeKit then The devices on your Wi-Fi so the Maross app can edit it. Looking forward to checking that out but I understand you can further adjust the four presets while using the button to dim.
- through the Home app you can adjust them from 0% through 100% pretty accurately. I would say anything below 15% is off and anything over 75% is full power. Still a lot of options fine adjusting in the effective area. I believe this can be better tuned through the Maross app. I’ll try that next and add it if necessary.
- this item is not UL certified but is ETL certified. Regardless of what you read, they’re the same. Underwriters laboratories in the company that runs the ETL certification follow the same guidelines. they are both approved by the NEC. It’s my understanding that it’s faster to go through ETL when you need to get tech on the market quickly. I’d prefer UL but ETL sounds just as good and is approved anywhere a UL item is.
Cons
- The leads on the back suck. I had to trim the lead significantly and even trim a few conductors in my box which is never a good thing.
- I have no idea how long this will last. I will definitely add it if one fails. I’ll also add it if I have intermittent failures. That’s so far so good.
The functionality of the dimmer is just fine. It’s inferior to a regular dimmer because the dimming function is not smooth and requires you to tap the button to dim each level. A slider would be much nicer. It also takes a few seconds for it to respond. However, it does solve a smart lighting issue I had and so it’s fine for now until a better option comes along.
Long Version: I have purchased eight meross switches over the course of the last eighteen months. Initially, I found them fairly easy to install and reasonably reliable though clearly made with fairly cheap materials. A new firmware patch was released last spring (2021), after which the switches behaved erratically. For example, we would find random switches turned on automatically in the middle of the night or simply flash on and off for a few seconds. This was particularly troublesome while asleep, creating temporary panic when the lights would flash on and off to wake my young children. It also made my spouse concerned about the potential fire danger of failing electronics in the wall, whether the concern was warranted or not. As an aside, the Reddit channel on meross has great descriptions of this same problem from multiple users.
I did contact support several times and was repeatedly advised that a new firmware version was undergoing “testing” and would be available soon. Several months later, the aforementioned firmware was still not available and the switches continued to flash on and off at random. Further, they consistently became completely unresponsive - in the app, in HomeKit or via touching the actual switch such that all eight of them would require a manual reset every few days by pushing the reset button or flipping the breaker. To mitigate this issue, I did block the switches’ connection to the outside network on my router and that did decrease (but did not eliminate) the frequency of these events. However, this also made me wonder what was being shared from the switches in my home with meross servers far far away (again, discussed by other users in Reddit who have tracked the packets that these switches send out while installed on your local network).
After support failed to provide a solution (or refund) despite their claims of standing behind their product, I removed all of the switches and replaced them with Lutron Caseta. Over a month of service, they have been completely solid as both physical switches and in HomeKit - in fact, the only thing in HomeKit that I have found to be 100% reliable. Again, this seems to be universal reading reviews of the Lutron Caseta products which all provide significant praise.
In summary, would strongly recommend starting with Lutron Caseta rather than these meross switches. The amount of time and worry that the meross switches caused was well worth the extra $10 / switch spent on Lutron.

Works better, setup done 1st time, never loosing wifi connection. Unfortunately, scanning QR code from AppleHome allocation does not work with this switch. I had to enter the 8!digits number manually. Besides that very impressed, so much easier that previous switch to install and reliability flawless so far!
Note: not sure why you have products Google/Alexa compatible only and other Apple HomeKit/Google/Alexa. Found this annoying when ordering and it's not always clearly indicated.
AMAZON SEARCH, does not filter well Apple HomeKit product.
The construction of the switches is good, mostly plastic but seems durable. Be aware that smart switches are deeper than regular switches. So they will occupy more space in the box, which may make it difficult to fit.
There is occasionally a delay when pressing the physical switch to turn on if they haven't been on in awhile. You can hear a slight auditable click from the relay inside of the switch. The delay is more apparent if the lights were previously dimmed.
The switches do occasionally drop connection and will report as being unresponsive in HomeKit. Usually sending a command either via HomeKit or the Meross app seems to wake them up after a delay. A few times I've had to push the small button to restart the switch.
The Meross app isn't required to set them up in HomeKit, which is nice. However it's a good idea to have the app as it is require for firmware updates.
I have the regular switch, dimmer and 3-way dimmers. All are great after a few weeks.
