About this item

  • Supports single 8K or dual 4K @ 60 Hz, single 4k @ 120Hz, or dual 1080P @120Hz Hz video output for Thunderbolt 4 devices; (note: any Macs with the M1, M2 or M3 chipset will only display to a single monitor due to Apple’s chipset limitations, but Macs with M1/M2/M3 Pro and M1/M2/M3 Max CPUs will work with dual displays)
  • Connect your laptop to the Thunderbolt 4 port (.8 meter Intel Certified TB4 cable included); connect your displays using one or two of the Thunderbolt 4 ports (usb-c to hdmi or usb-c to DisplayPort adapter or cable not included); unused Thunderbolt ports can connect directly to Thunderbolt devices (up to five additional via daisy chain, max 2 per port) while providing transfer speeds up to 40Gbps

  • Static charging technology provides 15W to each of the downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports without taking power from the laptop – laptop still receives full 90W of power even when all other ports are utilized; other Thunderbolt 4 docks will divert power away from the laptop
  • Three Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports (all capable of data, video and audio and 15w power each); SD card reader (UHS-II SD 4.0); four USB-A ports (one 5V/1.5A charging port and three Gen2@10Gbps ports); one Gigabit Ethernet port; one audio combo jack; on/off switch Vesa mounting holes (see Kensington mounting bracket, part # K34050WW); Kensington lock slot (for a lock see part #K65035AM or K60600WW)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is Thunderbolt technology?

A: Users have long wanted desktop-level performance from a mobile computer. Thunderbolt was developed to create new user experiences by simultaneously supporting the fastest data and most video bandwidth available on a single cable, while also supplying power.

Q: What is Thunderbolt 4?

A: Thunderbolt 4 builds on the innovation of Thunderbolt 3 for a truly universal cable connectivity experience. Thunderbolt 4 always delivers 40 Gbps speeds and data, video and power over a single connection. It is the most comprehensive Thunderbolt specification yet with compliance across the broadest set of industry-standard specifications – including USB4, DisplayPort and PCI Express (PCIe) – and is fully compatible with prior generations of Thunderbolt and USB products.

Q: Can my M1/M2 Base Chipset Macbook supports dual displays ?

A: No, M1/M2 Base Chipset supports only a single external display. (Only M1/M2 Pro, M1/M2 Max, and M1 Ultra Chipset supports dual displays).

works well with 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max
    4 Stars
works well with 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max
I looked at a bunch of Thunderbolt 4 docks to use with my 2021 MacBook Pro. The features I cared about were- upstream Thunderbolt 4 host connection,- upstream (host) charging,- ethernet,- as many downstream Thunderbolt/USB-C ports and USB-A ports as possible.I ended up with this item, the Kensington SD5700T. I have it connected to 1G ethernet, an LG 5K monitor, two external USB 3.2 gen 1 dual-SSD drive enclosures, keyboard/mouse, and a ScanSnap. The LG 5K display requires a Thunderbolt 3 connection. The others are all USB devices. (I could not find any decent, compact, low-cost Thunderbolt drive bays and settled on the Cable Matters Aluminum Dual-Bay SSD enclosure.)I've been using this dock for about a month now and it's been working fine. My only complaint is that it has a separate power brick that is as big as the dock itself. Hence the four star rating. I would love to find a good TB4 dock that has a built-in power supply, but every one I looked at has an external power brick.I considered the following docks/hubs, which all connect to the host by Thunderbolt 4:- Kensington SD5700T (this one). Has 90W host charging, 3 downstream TB4 ports, 4 USB-A ports, ethernet, SD card, and 3.5mm audio. I bought this from Amazon for $330.- Brydge Stone Pro TB4 - not yet released. Same ports as the Kensington but expected to cost $20 more.- OWC Thunderbolt Dock - not released at the time I was looking. Same ports as the Kensington, but $50 less. I would have bought this were it available at the time.- Anker Apex 12-in-1 - has two HDMI ports I don't care about but fewer TB/USB-C ports than the Kensington.- Plugable TBT4-HUB3C - 3 downstream TB4 ports and nothing else. But it's only $190.- Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock - almost the same as the Kensington but only 3 USB-A ports. $10 cheaper if you don't want RGB lighting.- CalDigit Element Hub - 3 TB 4 ports, 4 USB-A ports, 60W host charging, and nothing else. But only $250.- Sonnet Echo 11 - same ports as the Kensington, $10 cheaper, but not available on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars This dock has no problem when going sleeping mode. Well waked. 180W power enough to supply current.
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2022
Today, i got sd5700t, and test all round, i was worried about sleep mode problem, who wrote this.
Don't about this problem, I try to make unpleasant environment to meet this problem, for hibernate mode.
Well wake up. 180-watt power is for itself operation 90 watt and supply for connect to devices 90watt.
The power is enough than other same products, etc. The OWC,. small than 130W. I was fully tested the OWC counterparts, the test scores is thunderbolt 3 controller with extern storages, a little lower for writing speed. OWC score higher for writing speed. but a littler. Yes OWC counterparts also good things, but have no control for sleep mode, so it powers on states, connected all device have consume Energy even no signals. Notebooks goes power off. the Doc work continues. Now only use 1 days. If i find a problem, Tell here.

Currently, I find a problem when using USB A port which is located back, three usb port,
    which speeds 10gbps.
When i test speed, very slow and disconnected when testing, the device separated.
So i have to initialized. for hardware problem, i will test same H/W dock.
Kensington sent another dock, i will compare each docks.

I test the dock from exchanged same another dock, find same problem.
The problem is related power suppled USB port A, about 900mA.
Tested device is extern SSD disk, with 512GB, i guess, USB A port is
only used low power devices, for keyboard, mouse, printer, small usb device.
I move to the SSD disk to thunderbolt port, then no problem from now.
SD5700t have three thunderbolt port 2 port for dual monitor, last for
other device for high speed, more power device, extern SSD device.
I accept this problem to avoid use USB A port.
    Thanks.

finally, i test LG S8 27inch, 4k monitor to connected DP-ALT mode, Well operate,
So I conclude All my tesing is mostly Good, USB A ports a little unstable, but it is
the Extern Disk have much eats current more 900ma. thanks again to give me a chance
to another same Dock to compare it's operating. More over back to a little money,
The Dock discount when i test. I will back to another dock because i finished test.
    Thinks for Amazon.`

My system, notebook is Lg gram 2022,17inch, Intel 12gen, with thunderbolt 4 included.
    Windows 11 home, Korean.

I have used other docks that have had reliability issues with thunderbolt connecting sometimes and not others. This has been flawless so far. I am evened using a thunderbolt 2 monitor with a thunderbolt 3 adapter without issue. Everything seems high quality including the cable which has a thunderbolt 4 label. Design is sleek and fits in with the rest of my setup. Daisy chaining off of my thunderbolt monitor has worked flawless. SD reader write/read speeds seemed to be on par with my internal reader on my MacBook Pro. I haven’t tested the gigabit Ethernet yet but everything else is A+.
