DeLonghy will repair the item. More later.
Several weeks later, I contacted De' Longhi and had a lengthy discussion over the phone regarding the unit. I explained the issue I had with it. After several tests, De'Longhi agree that mine was faulty and agreed to repair it. The sent packing materials and prepaid shipping label. It took them about a month to process and repair it. It now worked as it should from the beginning. Excellent coffee!!!
Too bad the hopper doesn't come out if you wanna change beans, but it's solid and sturdy (not "plastic-y).
Auto-Americano mode is cool.
Everything about this machine screams quality and excellent design (over the competition).
You can adjust dose exactly how you want it.
GET IT.
And, for a household of 2, the water tank didn't run out annoyingly often for just making espresso and steaming milk, but of course it would for Americanos.
Update: I've contacted support and after they acknowledged the issue and told me they would send me a label for me to ship it for repair under warranty, now they sent an email saying that they "reviewed" my claim and said that my warranty has expired. HOW IS THE WARRANTY "EXPIRED" IF ITS UNDER THE WARRANTY PERIOD? The manual says you get an extra year of warranty when you register the product which I did and I bought it less than 2 years ago, therefore it should be covered until July 2024. It's obviously not July 2024 yet so how is it expired?!!???! This company is not only trying to pass plastic junk as quality products but their customer support try really hard not to resolve problems when they occur, and believe me, they will occur as this is a really low quality machine. Buy a Breville instead and stay away from delonghi!!!!!!!!!!
Side note: don’t get mad because you can’t make latte art like they do on the videos. It’s very hard but it still tastes just as good when you mess it up. Lol
The accessories that come with this are good...a manual tamper, a tamping mat, and some others for normal use. The grinding works well, though you have to manually adjust it until you get it the way you want...and if you swap beans/brands, you may have to adjust it again. Again, for me, that doesn't bother me...I did it once, and I'm good.
The cup sizes (amount of liquid it makes) are adjustable if you read the directions, so for my cups I had to use the double-shot and increase the liquid it produces. After testing with 5-10 cups after we bought it, I got the grind and portion figured out, and it makes some of the best cappuccino I've ever had. The milk frother works great and produces way better milk than my last machine. I recently used it to make americanos for my mom who drinks standard coffee and she said it was way better than she gets with her machine, so fortunately we don't need a second coffee pot for company.

Overall, the build quality is good and it has a nice look. It doesn't take up too much space on a table. It's easy to use, and the hop attachment on the portafilter really helps with puck preparation. Some brewing adjustments are available through hidden settings (read the manual!).
Cons:
The grinding is not very uniform, which is probably due to the conical burr used. It's not too bad, though. The amount of ground coffee varies with the same setting, as it is based on time rather than weight. The grinder can be messy sometimes as grinded coffee is flying out around the machine. There is no water flow adjustment, so it always passes the same amount of water regardless of your coffee weight.
Overall:
It's a good starting point if you want a little bit more control over your coffee brew. One can adapt and tweak the machine to their liking to a certain point. However, don't expect full control here, it is a basic mass consumer model.
Easy to use
Built in grinder
pressure Gauge
Big water tank
Price (especially on sale)
Con's:
Frother could be stronger
Leaks after shot
learning curve is high (on all machines)
Built in grinder can't be taken apart and cleaned easily
51mm accessories are harder to get than 53mm or 58mm
Thoughts:
I was torn between this and other brands but I had a lot of 51MM accessories from my old De'Longhi machine so I chose them again. The main problem I have with this brand is that they use 51mm though. There's so many good accessories made that aren't 51MM and don't have the option to get it. Like from the brand normcore. The machine itself if really good though. Like any espresso machine, there's a learning curve to get a really good shot. This helps you tune your shots to try and get consistently good shots. The pressure gauge really helps with that and is a feature I won't be able to go without now. Especially when you first get a new machine. The grinder is good too and has a lot of different coarse options but I typically just stay on the finest. My big issue is that you can't simply take it apart to clean it. Companies like Breville have that option to take it apart and blow it out. I feel like that obvious feature should be a standard and was simply looked over. Making a shot itself is easy enough, the included portafilter eliminates spraying from potentially bad shots. The portafilter also gets really gross if you don't clean it properly after each shot. I would always rinse it out and clean it after but I didn't realize the coffee would build up and dry on the little crevasses of where the shot comes out. I was probably 10 shots in before seeing the build up and made it a lot harder to clean. Now after each shot I scrub it like crazy and it's been good. Now on to the frother. Probably the biggest learning curve for anyone starting out is learning how to properly froth milk. This frother doesn't make it easy either. It's a standard frother that most top machines and baristas use but without the power of professional machines. It could be me just absolutely struggling with it but it seems to get the milk hotter quicker than it can froth properly. I've found that you really have to add a lot of air into the milk to get a decent froth. I wish I could just go try frother on other machines to really see if it's me or the machine itself. Overall though, minus some caveats, the machine is really good and looks really good. When in your kitchen, you'll be sure to get a lot of questions about it from visitors.
