Zero Quality Control - Never Buy a Dell
tl;dr -- I returned this laptop after owning it for a week. It kept deciding it no longer wanted to see an internet connection.I've had nothing but problems since I first booted up my Dell Inspiron 15 3520. Dell's own "Support Assist" program refused to load until I let it sit at a loading screen for half an hour. The computer alerted me a BIOS update was available, but that BIOS update was greyed-out and not selectable. I had to contact Dell support who in turn disabled BitLocker in order to run the BIOS update. Keep in mind this laptop ships from Dell with BitLocker enabled, and nowhere in the manual or on-screen are you ever informed you need to disable BitLocker in order to update the BIOS.The printed picture-only users manual is rife with misformation. The manual claims the Inspiron 3520 comes with a USB-C port and a switch to cover the webcam. The laptop comes with NEITHER of these, despite what the manual would have you believe.But the really ANNOYING problem that finally got me to return this laptop for a refund is that at any given moment, the laptop will suddenly say "no internet" while still connected to any WiFi network. I've had this laptop decide to just stop seeing an internet connection in the middle of browsing webpages. This laptop has also decided it wanted to lose its internet connection when I was in the middle of a virtual meeting. This suddenly losing the ability to see the internet has happened on my home WiFi, on WiFi at family member's houses, as well as on public WiFi networks. I've tried specifying DNS server addresses. I've tried specifying a static IP address for the laptop. I've tried updating the WiFi adapter with drivers directly from Intel's website, yet NOTHING solves this issue. And a Dell supervisor had the audacity to say my connectivity issues were due to an "internet provider outage" when other devices on my home network worked as expected while this laptop was experiencing its connectivity issues.Also in the course of my network troubleshooting I learned that Dell preinstalls MALWARE that goes by the name of "SmartByte" on their laptops. SmartByte seems to have one and only one function: to throttle (slow-down) your internet speed. Upon uninstalling SmartByte, speed tests I ran from this laptop improved. Unfortunately, the connectivity issues with the laptop persisted until I got fed up with it, and returned the laptop for a refund.Dell does NOT stand behind their products, and with the complete lack of quality assurance measures at Dell, I can see why. Do yourself a favor and buy a laptop from any vendor other than Dell.

Terrible quality and good luck getting your money back

4 weeks into school and the laptop’s hinges caused the screen to all most rip off when opening, apparently that’s a common issue due to the hinges being of poor quality and build. Customer care won’t refund or give me partial credit due to 30 day policy. But don’t worry I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for a repair now that doesn’t seem to have an exact date when they’ll show up, throw in some confusing messages about when they were suppose to show up and now I have to buy a new laptop even though this one’s brand new because I can’t fall behind in classes… more money down the drain thanks dell….
