About this item
- Mini-LED: One of the newest backlighting technologies to enter the market, Mini - LED backlight panels create a brighter picture with more contrast control than typical LED backlit televisions.
- 4K ULED: Like 4K great, but better. The 55U8H has our exclusive ULED technologies. They boost color, contrast, brightness, motion we could go on. It's the TV your old TV wants to be.
- Quantum Dot Wide Color Gamut: Quantum Dot produces purer, richer, more brilliant and accurate colors than a regular LED TV. Creating over a billion color combinations bring vibrant images to life in a way non-QLED TVs can't.
- Peak Brightness/Full Array Local Dimming Zones: The average TV is 250-350 nits. Anything over 500 nits is extremely good. This television is up-to-1500 nits peak brightness across up-to-528 local dimming zones. Above average peak brightness and local dimming are critical to correctly reproducing HDR content.
- Dolby Vision Dolby Atmos: Dolby Vision HDR picture and Dolby Atmos sound are cinema technology for your home. They provide amazing realism you can see and hear in every scene.
- Smooth Motion & 120Hz Native Refresh Rate: Smooth Motion removes the digital noise that can affect moving objects. The TV's native 120Hz refresh rate is the foundation for its 480 motion rate. These technologies work in concert for a great picture.
- Game Mode Pro: All the most advanced gaming tech, all in this TV. HDMI 2.1 inputs recognize gaming sequences to automatically adjust settings for smooth, uninterrupted play. The automatic low latency mode (ALLM), 120 Hz variable refresh rate (VRR) and FreesSync Premium Pro minimize input lag, screen jitter, and frame tearing.
- Hands Free Voice Control: Put down the remote. Change the channel, find the latest movie, stream your favourite video and more with your voice. The quicker, easier way to find whatever you want to watch.

Product Description
We're bringing Quantum Dot Color to the people. Enjoy over one billion colors, without worrying about how many commas are on the price tag. You're welcome. The great value U8H makes lots more premium tech readily available too. Like 4K resolution, Dolby Vision HDR and Full Array Local Dimming zones. Sounds like science, looks like a way more expensive TV.

Pros:
Let me just start by saying This TV is Amazing and I think you should try it if you are in the market for a New TV and dont want to spend too much money!!! This TV simply smokes many of the LG, Samsung, or Sony tvs that are in the similar price range or even that are a little bit more expensive. Is it as good as an OLED? No, but it is pretty close! I was gonna buy an OLED but i was worried for Burn-in. I am so glad I bought Hisense U8H and saved a ton of money! I never bought a Hisense tv before this so this is my first Hisense TV. I was using a Samsung KS8000 before for my Game Room. I bought this Hisense U8H 4 months ago especially for Gaming and some Movie Watching. I currently have a 2016 Samsung KS8000 (Edge-Lit) and also a 2017 Sony X900F (Full-Array) paid double for both of these tvs and honestly U8H beats both of them as far as picture quality goes. Blacks are very deep even in the dark room. Believe me when I say this: This TV gets ridiculously BRIGHT!!! I didn't notice a whole lot of blooming. Only noticed it on some occasions but in comparison to my other TVs this U8H is sooooo much better!!! Gaming on it is super amazing, colors are Rich & Vibrant! I do not have the current consoles so I can't say anything about 120hz but upon reading different posts on reddit and after the latest firmware update it works perfectly fine. Sound Quality is pretty good for a TV (it has a 20W Subwoofer in the back). Software wise it is pretty good much faster/smoother than my other tvs. Motion is pretty good but I keep the motion settings off for my movies. Upscaling is good but I think Samsung and Sony upscale the older content much better. Remember: You have to turn "Enhanced Mode" to on for 120hz to work (there is plenty of information you can find on the internet and many YouTube videos about it)
Cons:
It does have color banding issue (which is still not fixed with a latest Firmware) that I've noticed in some games and movies but personally it doesn't bother me so if you are sensitive to that then keep this in mind before buying.
Annoying 4 led lights that come on after you turn the mic button to off ( I think you can also turn it off in the software, but I've gotten used to it so doesn't bother me anymore.
Final thoughts:
I think for me these are the only cons and overall this is a very good TV. Would I recommend to buy this TV? Absolutely YES!!! Try it and if you don't like it you can always return it. Also, If you get a bad unit don't worry just replace it! This getting a bad unit happens with every manufacturer (maybe I am not sure upon reading some reviews it happens more with Hisense I don't know, but I got lucky the first time) it happened to me in the past with Samsung & Sony as well.
Good Luck! 👍
- Default HDMI is not enhanced and causes issues and has to be picked in menu
- Only 2 HDMI are 2.1 120Hz and one of those is ARC so for me sound bar gets one only leaving one for PS5, but cannot hookup PC to other due to sound bar
- Smooth motion on by default and needed to adjust as movies and tv shows getting soap opera effect (if that bothers you)
- Although HDMI CEC works to power on items and off and control with remote (Apple TV, PS5, etc.), it doesn't auto switch which is frustrating; like PS5 will go on, but not play back through ARC unless I switch sound bar to ARC or the Apple TV won't come up unless I switch the input. My previous TCL that died always worked going between sources flawlessly, and may just be something I have to figure out
- Navigating Settings and Menus could be easier; there is a setting button on remote and settings through a menu from remote and not all setting are in one place and having 2-3 deep to get to some often used functions on picture settings is a pain
PS5 gaming is NIGHT AND DAY compared to the TCL. I had a TCL 4 Series with HDR, but it was really criminal to call it HDR. Now I get why HDR is so touted. I feel like my PS5 went to a PS6. I can't describe the difference, but it is so much better. This TV supports 120Hz (tested with Doom Eternal). You can set inputs on TV to specific settings and Game Mode and other Gaming choices are all there. Supports variable refresh rate also. So far playing very will with PS5. I highly recommend this set for gamers.
I stream almost all my movies, and 4K UHD digital with Dolby Vision are amazing. I paused a couple of movies, like Tom Hanks leaving hanger in Maverick where he goes from dark and shadows to outside, and I did see a bit of pixilation which could be result of streaming as much as TV, but it was not as bad TCL. Overall though, blacks are amazing and near OLED quality with some, but much less blooming that I have seen on any other non-OLED tv.
Other thoughts. . .this TV is heavy. It easily weighs twice as much as the TCL it replaced. I have no comments on sound as I use a soundbar, Airpods and headphones when watching TV or gaming. Also, I have no use for smart tv functions, google, etc. as I use Apple TV for my front end to everything and do live tv through Hulu on there.
