I would recommend this Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen for your main viewing area over all other Fire TVs. I would buy this on sale vs. the list price. I was able to purchase this Cube for $119 plus my trade in. In my book speed is king and this Fire TV will not disappoint you. I am confident that I will be using this Fire TV for the next 5 years minimum.
Original review - 1 star:
Constant freezes and reboots so I can’t watch anything for long.
I really want to love this device but it constantly crashes and reboots. I’m trying to watch Amazon Freevee content or Max content and the device will freeze up and reboot. It sometimes gets into a reboot loop and the only way to stop it is to pull the power cord. Sometimes it will get through a show but most of the time it will crash and reboot. I’m often wasting 20 minutes dealing with reboots just trying to watch a 40min show. I’ve tried factory reset, clearing caches, force stopping the app. I even tried just the default apps. Always gets back to the cycle of disappointment and wasting a ton of time kicking me out of my show and rebooting at random. Often when it starts this crash cycle the cube startup chime is super loud and makes a loud glitchy robotic sound when it crashes in the middle of the startup sound when it is trying to reboot from a crash, even when the TV is off and I’ve given up, keeping me from sleeping so I pull the power cord so it will just shut up.
What sets the Fire TV Cube apart is its ability to seamlessly navigate between different entertainment sources. Whether I'm streaming content, switching to my cable box, connecting to a game console, or setting up a webcam, the transition is smooth and hassle-free. The Wi-Fi 6E support ensures smoother streaming, and the 4K Ultra HD picture quality with Dolby Vision, HDR, and Dolby Atmos audio support truly puts on a cinematic show. With access to over 1.5 million movies and TV episodes from popular platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and more, the Fire TV Cube provides endless entertainment options.
Moreover, I appreciate the privacy features built into the device, including the electronic disconnect for the microphones. The ability to manage my smart home directly on the screen, using Alexa for video calls, weather checks, and live views of my Ring cameras, adds another layer of convenience. The Amazon Fire TV Cube has undoubtedly elevated my home entertainment setup, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful, feature-packed streaming device. Five stars well-deserved!
