5.0 out of 5 starsAbsolutely Fabulous Loudspeakers
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2018
The following comments come from an audiophile of 25+ years.
I have owned many loudspeakers over the years, and the DALI Zensor 3 is the best, by far. They are so good that I do not know where to start (or end?) in singing their praises. For a long time, I have been searching for a speaker that conveys the richness, depth, and truth of live music. These little gems do so in every way, and best of all, they do so with a rare combination of punch and clarity, with no sibilance or harshness. I just cannot stand harsh high frequencies, and the Z3 delivers only smooth, natural HF tones. The midrange is liquid and “alive,” and the bass is nothing short of amazing. With the Z3, who needs a subwoofer? Better yet, who needs separates? or vinyl? or any other high-tech toy? Driven by my NAD C356BEE integrated, with a nice, short half-meter Kimber PBJ (with upgrade WBT-0114s), these speakers convey the musical truth from the discs spinning in my Yamaha BD-A 1060 blu-ray player. I have zero interest in home theater and use the BD-A 1060 for audio only (and it is a very nice player). The Z3 has bettered all of the bookshelf and floorstanidng speakers I have owned (have had mostly bookshelf models), and they are clearly the most natural, dynamic, rich, rhythmic, engaging, uncolored, un-schreechy loudspeakers that have been in my system. Did I mention how dynamic they are and how good the bass is? The fullness of their sound is truly amazing for a speaker of their size. I cannot stress this enough.
I thank the fellow (a seller) over on the Zensor 1 Q/A product listing who recommended these speakers over the Z1. He said they would be great with my NAD integrated, and boy was he right—thank you, sir.
Perhaps the best thing is that I have had these speakers for only a few days, and thus they are hardly broken-in yet. Right out of the box, they sounded great...as every good audio component I have ever bought has. You just know it when you hear it, and these were good from the get-go. While I do believe that break-in tends to help with speakers, in my view, a component should “grab” you from the beginning. If it does not, then it is probably not for you.
I would give the DALI Zensor 3 six stars if I could. They are that good.
