Das Gerät ist einfach super in jeder Hinsicht, Form, Funktionen und Verarbeitung, noch besser als ich erwartet hatte.
Ganz klar wird das iPad in erster Linie genutzt um mal flott im Internet etwas zu erkunden und um Emails komfortabel abzurufen. Darüber hinaus ist es natürlich ein perfektes Präsentationsmedium für Fotos und Videoaufnahmen. Außerdem ist es in Verbindung mit Clouddiensten, Smartphone und PC hervorragend geeignet mich zu organisieren. Termine, Aufgaben, Ideen und Notizen lassen sich mit Bordmitteln und kostenlosen Apps sehr gut handlen und stehen so fast überall und jederzeit zur Verfügung und können spontan aktualisiert werden. Sehr praktisch sind auch die vorhandenen Office Anwendungen für Textverarbeitung, Tabellenkalkulation und Präsentation. Die Apps für Hobbyastronomen sind auf dem iPad noch beeindruckender und plastischer als auf dem iPhone!

Auch an der WiFi Verbindung gibt es nichts auszusetzen, hängt stabil am Netz auch über eine Etage.

Dann ist da noch die Frage der Philosophie, Apple oder Android ... Apple zwingt seinen Nutzern zwar einige Nutzungsweisen auf, dafür läuft aber auch alles sehr stabil, ist übersichtlich strukturiert, sehr leicht und intuitiv bedienbar, weil sämtliche Apps nach denselben Grundregeln funktionieren. Kennt man erstmal die geläufigsten Funktionen, findet man sich schnell in fast jeder anderen App auch zurecht, weil eben alles gleich gestrickt ist. Das empfinde ich bei Android weniger gut. Jede App dort ist anders aufgebaut und alles ist viel unübersichtlicher als bei Apple. Aber das ist eben Geschmackssache ...

Mein Fazit: Mit dem iPad Air 32 GB hat man als ausschließlicher WLAN-Nutzer das Rundum-Sorglos-Glücklich-Paket. Darüber hinaus kann man ja bei Bedarf mit Tethering oder mobilem WLAN-Router auch außerhalb des heimischen WLAN Zugang zum Internet bekommen. Also, von mir gibt es eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung.

I'll be the first to admit that I've held off from purchasing an iPad for not being able to take it seriously. Within reason though, there's a point to be made that the older generation devices were not as productive as Apple claimed.

So how have I conceded to using the iPad Air on a daily basis? I suppose that comes down to refinement, or at least just how convenient this new device is compared to the original model four years ago. The thinness and weight of the iPad Air is quite astonishing for an equally strong device, and one that is also future-proofed with some very advanced technologies. A lack of 'Touch ID' isn't cause for concern either, as to me at least, it seems better suited to a device that you're going to regularly lock-unlock.

Like others, I considered the iPad as a laptop replacement and what it would be like to travel with. Microsoft's 'Surface' tablet was an obvious contender, but after playing with both devices at my local Curry's, I found that Windows 8 continues to be unintuitive by comparison. iOS 7 on the other hand, whilst lacking a traditional file system, feels slicker and has an unbeatable App Store. The screen ratio is also better balanced when switching between portrait and landscape; doing this with the Surface was very jarring.

Working on the iPad takes a little time to adjust, as your documents are contained within the apps themselves. All your work is backed up in iCloud and can be opened/edited in any web browser on any computer, or of course other Apple devices. Apple offer an equivalent of Microsoft's Office suite for free, which are available to download at any time you wish (Pages, Numbers and Keynote also support Work, Excel and PowerPoint files, with good compatibility).

I love the fact if you have Office documents on a PC and want them on your iPad, you can simply use a web browser to drag and drop them into the respective apps using iCloud. Then, the next time you go on your iPad, the documents are there in each app.

You can also download a free suite called iLife, which offers photo editing, video editing and music production in three separate apps. Each of these is easy to use and can produce some fun results! They're not professional grade, but do offer advanced features that you won't get from other paid apps in the store. The suite is also something that I don't believe the Surface has.

Aside from the iPad itself, the product features just one cable and a 12 watt power adapter. A new 'Lightening' connector replaces the old 30-pin version, and with good cause too; it's absolutely tiny, and doesn't need to be inserted "the right way up" as it's reversible. I'm disappointed no headphones are included, because even if they're not the best on the market, they're still useable.

If I could pull out one other drawback, it's that typing on the screen isn't as comfortable as on previous generation devices. The glass almost has a plastic 'click-clack' feel to it, and as such is noisier to tap away on.

Without wanting to go into further small details (the majority of which are available from countless other reviews), I can safely say that the iPad has changed the way I go about my work. Not only this, but it offers a more intimate experience when you want to consume content too, which makes the device perfect for sharing in a small family.

Brilliant to use to keep in touch with family for a start, since getting i've kept in touch on skype, I just sit there and it rings at me .... easier to use than the phone ... it's been brilliant for emails, and i use it as a tv when i go to bed and watch catch up, i know it does so much more than that ... but there's the basics , now i thought i couldn't afford it , but it's been worth every penny, now if you're stuck as to whether to get this latest one , my mother has the 3 but i have no regrets paying extra for the 5 air, it's so light, fast and beautifully clear for reading and the quality for tv catch up is breathtaking .... I also like the black surround as it frames the tv watching without distraction of a white surround, suppose that's why the white ones are cheaper, I don't like them nearly as much ... Buy it , you'll love it ! and don't be put off if you're older, I was inspired by my mums who's 75 and boyfriends mother who received a skype call while i was visiting she's the south side of young too but she finds it ok to use ....

Auch wenn Apple preislich höher liegt ist es nun mal das Beste Tablet. In Design und Bedienung überragt es die Konkurrenz. Von vorne bis hinten durchdacht. Kleine Schwäche ist für mich die Texterkennung beim Schreiben aber das wird mit IOS8 verbessert. Sehr hohe Qualität wie bei allen unseren Apple Produkten. Es ist nun schon unser 4. Ipad nach dem 2er, 3er und 4er und es war noch irgendwas defekt.

I have debated whether to get an iPad or not for a while, trying carefully to weigh the benefits. The first thing I would say is that this is not a laptop and is not as versatile in its use, the ability to plug it into other devices is greatly limited by the absence of a USB port. I could not therefore imagine using it for any serious productivity, typing or work. In effect it is like a large iPhone.

The iPad is best seen as a tool for recreation rather than work. The sort of thing you could use to watch a film or television show with your feet up on the sofa, or for looking at your photographs, listening to music or just idly surfing the internet. Of course there are the many, many, MANY games that can be found on the App Store. Though I wondered for some time, this has been a delight to use and I consider the money very well spent. Just bear in mind that when you buy this, what you buy it for.
