1.0 out of 5 starsWorst Product Ever Made Worse By Webber

When I first received this item and followed the instructions in the box it had me download the iDevice app, which failed to find the device despite Bluetooth being on and showing up fine in my bluetooth settings on my Oneplus One. I tried it on my Android tablet and it failed to connect as well, and then I tried it on my old Galaxy Note, which didn't even allow me to install the app as it "wasn't compatible".
I e-mailed support using the link from inside the app, only to get an automated response that they weren't responsible for the device anymore as Weber had bought them out.
I poked around and found the Weber version of the app, which was produced after they bought out the original producer of this device. It also failed to connect.
I finally e-mailed Webber support who did their best to blame my devices, even though by that point I'd tried 4 different Android based devices and failed to connect in every one of them. Webber eventually told me I had to uninstall all the iDevices app and the Webber app, then install the Webber app again. After doing this the device actually connected... but only on my Oneplus One and none of my other Android devices, and only if I fiddled with manually unpairing the device in my bluetooth settings and then re-pairing it, and if I got out of range it would lose connection with zero warning.
I cooked one prime rib on Christmas eve and it showed the roast as being 75F for hours and hours while my old meat thermometer showed a radically different temperature (thankfully I didn't trust the iGrill at this point to be anything resembling reliable). Every time I loaded the app it would try to do a firmware update which would appear to install in a split second, but never actually install. I went to watch TV a whole 20 feet from the iGrill and it disconnected with no warning and when I put the iGrill on the counter next to the device it never figured out it was back in range. After fiddling with unpairing and re-pairing the device a few times it finally installed the firmware update and started showing a valid temperature... but only if I stayed within 5-10 feet of the device.
Speaking of the app, it's the worst turd I've ever seen. It focuses more on selling you more of Webber's terrible products than actually showing you anything related to cooking your meat. If the connection fails it instantly tries to get you to buy another device. When you launch it, it's one big ad screen trying to sell you more Weber devices. You have to poke around menus just to get to the display of the temperature... which is the entire point of the app, though Weber appears to think it's meant as an advertising platform for it's horrendous products.
I'm just glad I was smart enough to go back to a tried and true basic meat thermometer so I didn't overcook over a hundred bucks worth of meat or I'd be even more ticked off.
This product is so terrible I'll be sure to never, ever buy any Weber product again, including any kind of BBQ grill or accessories. The whole experience has left a terrible taste in my mouth... in fact when BBQ season rolls around again I think I'll toss this POS on the grill and see how long it takes to melt into a puddle of goo. This is the only grilling this product is worthy of "helping" with.
