I had an LG 4k IPS 60 FPS Freesync monitor for a few years and I wanted to see what was out there in a 144hz type of monitor. After a lot of digging, I stumbled on this gem and decided to give it a go.

I am really glad that I did! I found that for my budget, I would have to give up 4k and step down to 1440p. I was fine with that. However, I also found that most monitors TN instead of IPS, and the colors would be terrible. After owning this Dell for a couple of months, I can safely say that I don't miss 4k and I don't miss IPS.

To my aging eyes, 1440p is sharp enough and it is easier to push high framerates on 1440p. Of course if you have a 4k monitor, you can always set the resolution lower. However whenever you move away from the native resolution, things start to look bad. I have found that it is best to stick to native as much as possible for best picture quality.

For the IPS part, I could notice a difference when both monitors were side by side. However, I a few months later and it's not something I ever really think about. The color on the Dell S2719DGFis really good. Not really good for a TN. It is just really good. In fact, picture quality overall is great. I almost want to buy one for work to replace my 1080p IPS monitors.

So good picture quality, color, and 1440p are all good. What about the 144hz? This was huge for me. It really made the whole experience of PC gaming so much better. Everything is smooth. I feel like my mouse is doing exactly what I want. Hit shots in an FPS is easier. Racing around Forza Horizon 4 is so much more immersive. This is how PC gaming is supposed to feel.

One more thing on the 144hz part. I strongly recommend you do a few things to get the most out of this monitor.
1) Use a Displayport cable to connect from the monitor to the GPU. Mine did not come with one in the box, maybe order one at the same time.
2) If you don't have Displayport on your GPU, use an HDMI cable and connect to the HDMI 2.0 port on the monitor. I did get one of those in the box.
3) If you don't have HDMI on your GPU, upgrade your GPU
4) Reboot your computer after installing the monitor
5) Go into Advanced Display Settings and make sure that the monitor refresh is set to 144hz. It will probably default to 60hz, so it will need to be changed to take advantage of it.
6) If you have a Nvidia GTX 10 or 20 series card, open up the Nvidia settings panel. Look for G-Sync and turn it on. This will enable Freesync on the monitor to run.
7) If you have an AMD card, go into the settings and make sure the Freesync switch is turned on.
8) Once you get into a game, turn off any frame limiters and turn on V-Sync. By enabling V-Sync, your frames will cap at 144, Freesync will operate between 40 and 144 FPS, and V-Sync will take over at 39 FPS and below. This will ensure that you have extremely smooth gameplay between 40 and 144 FPS with no tearing and no lag on your mouse or keyboard.

Overall, this is a fantastic monitor, and I have been surprised at how much I love it. A few other things that I didn't mention were the excellent stand and the convenient USB hub. This monitor brings a lot of value and function to the table. I highly recommend this monitor!

I’ve loved this monitor for how long I’ve owned it (almost 3.5 years). There is a streak forming across the upper part of the screen almost as if something is pressing against the screen. Keep in mind, this has been in the same upright position since I’ve owned it. I would love some feedback from the seller as I don’t really want to pay for a completely new monitor at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing monitor, some issues with windows 10
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2020

The screen: ZERO DEAD PIXELS. Vibrant, bright, default settings are perfect, 155hz overclock is so smoooooth. You won't find a better looking TN panel period. Perfect screen for gaming in 2020. The black framing around the screen is very slim, which is perfect for multiple monitor setups; the only problem would be attaching a webcam to the top of it, you'll have to get creative as the clamp will most likely cover part of your screen if you attach it normally.

The stand: Excellently engineered and simple to mount/un-mount. It can be a little tricky flipping the monitor into portrait mode.. you have to lean it back to spin it because the stand doesn't go high enough. Not a huge problem but annoying if you're desk is cramped. Otherwise solid stand with room for cables to go out the back and height adjustment is very easy.

The box: Came perfectly packed and protected (my UPS guy dropped it on the porch with such a thud you'd think he was having a bad day or something). No damage to the screen and I was able to repackage the monitor in the box when I moved recently with zero problems.

The buttons and OSD: Simple and intuitive design. Took me all of 1 minute to get it figured out. Overclock settings are easy to find and enable. Has all of the usual features, etc. What's not to like?

The USB 3 ports: These kind of suck in that they are on the bottom left of the screen and very hard to use. I highly recommend getting a small usb extension cable for these so that you don't have to feel around on the bottom of your monitor to use them as it is extremely tedious. Other than that I haven't had a single problem with them or the included cable.

The HDMI cable: I was able to use the cable at the full 155hz without any problems. I did, however, upgrade it to a Club3D VESA Certified CAC-2068 DisplayPort cable with no looking back. DP or die!

Issues with Windows 10: Windows 10 sucks of course so you may run into issues like games freezing upon waking up, having your Hz reset to 60 if your main monitor isn't running at 155Hz as well, problems with FPS in fully maximized windows, etc. I recommend ensuring you are running at a full 155Hz with a widget or just by paying attention because Windows 10 might try and undermine you like it has me. Probably an issue with my specific hardware, but beware. Not the monitors fault though.

Thoughts: Great monitor. Picture is so much better than my previous Asus VS248H that it looks dark and dead in comparison. I knew my monitor sucked; I did not know that I was a caveman living in the dark ages. So glad I finally upgraded. What a beautiful monitor. The overclocking feature is easily enabled and it runs perfectly at 155hz. I should have gotten this when it first came out! Price has increased by nearly $80 since I purchased it, but I suppose that can be a testament to its demand. Anyways, I highly recommend this monitor and will be getting a 2nd one hopefully soon. Epic screen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most underrated monitor you will find. Professional by day. Gamer by night.

I purchased 3 of these used through Amazon Warehouse and I have to say that I am blown away by these. The cheapest one was $206 and most expensive being $277.
The S2719DGF has all the features where it counts and more.

- The most under rated feature IMO is the menu and input switching. I work from home and have a separate work and personal machine so I constantly switch between machines every day, on all 3 monitors. The menu is very customizable so you can have quick settings without going too far into the menu. ALSO, the monitor can detect which inputs have an active signal and will automatically switch to that if set to AUTO. I tried several gaming monitors before going with these and the input switching was the biggest selling point for me. It surprises me that this is left out even on some of the higher end monitors.

- Many will say that TN panels are not very good. This is the exception. I've seen and owned IPS panels that looked much worse than my 3 monitors. The one caveat is that while it looks good horizontally, be prepared to be disappointed if you orient them vertically. I am a developer and a vertical screen can be very nice. However, it really only looks good from straight on, or maybe from the side that would normally be the top.
- High refresh rate works great. 3 display inputs, 2 of which support high refresh rate.
- The stand is very stable and adjustable which brings the monitor up to a comfortable level.
- If you're going for the "gamer" look, this is not the screen for you. But it is a very clean look and will go nicely with any setup.
- The integrated USB is very useful. I have them I have 2 monitors plugged into my center one, which then plugs into my desktop with the one USB cable.

Even at the full new price, these are still really competitive against any other 1440p gaming monitor. At the used prices that I got them at, there was absolutely no contest. Especially when there were 1080p monitors that were going for about the same price that I got each of these for.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an exceptional monitor

I've owned this monitor since the end of November of 2019. It is now April, 15th, 2020, going through a working from home phase like most others. Originally bought it for ~$300 and mostly to game on, but since has turned into one of the monitors I work on for work.
Let's start with the build quality. It feels like a solid monitor with a nice weight. It is sharp and it lives up to its marketed response time. I love that it has a HDMI port as well as the display port. The DP goes connects to my PC, while the HDMI connects to my Xbox One X. Its amazing to play any game on this monitor. Keep in mind most consoles and current games can only push out 60fps, so you won't be able reap the benefits of this monitor. Don't get me wrong, it looks amazing. On PC, it is a whole different story. I played ESO averaging 100fps due to my graphics card limitations, and it looked phenomal. It looked crispy, it didn't lose frames, and there was no ghosting.

I don't want to necessarily ramble so I will keep it short. There is a couple of cons that may matter to some people, and others won't care. The colors on it could be better. Maybe its me being picky, but compared to the ASUS monitor I have beside it, it definitley could be a tad better. They don't seem as bright as my ASUS monitor. The other thing is that this thing doesn't come with a display port cable. A lot of people are docking a star for it, but Display Port isn't really standard, HDMI is. Although, If you're paying $300+ on a gaming monitor, you would hope it would come with everything needed to access 155Hz when overclocking the monitor.

All in all, I would definitley recommend buying this monitor, and I'm thinking about buying another to have it replace that ASUS.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gaming monitor, many nice added features
Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2020

Let me start with saying this is purely a gaming monitor. It has most of the features one would want for gaming. It has a high refresh rate, qhd resolution and nearly no lag. What this monitor sacrifices for these features is contrast. Compared to other non gaming monitors, or more expensive gaming monitors, the colors and blacks appear washed out. This is by no fault of this particular monitor, but rather a result of the "TN" lcd panel that is used in most gaming models.
Personally I use this monitor for casual gaming but also for web browsing and occasional video watching. For gaming this display is excellent! With the higher refresh and low lag, games look perfectly smooth and graphics are sharp. I play a variety of games including first person shooters and driving games. Both have a lot of fast paced graphics, and these are rendered with great acuracy. Black levels are acceptable while gaming. In games with a lot of dark scenes, I've found the added brightness this monitor brings a benefit especially if the game requires you to search for items. As I noted though, the contrast being as low as it is does make everything appear brighter. I have not found this to be much of an issue playing games since I am more concerned with the gameplay than how how blue the sky is or how green the grass is.
Watching videos and web browsing do suffer. However, there are many presets on this monitor to adjust the image for different uses. By simply lowering the brightness, I have found this display to work fine for web browsing and casual video watching. This is not the display I would watch a feature length movie on, but YouTube videos I have no problem watching.
Finally, this monitor is built very well and has a lot of other great features. The built in USB hub is very convenient. I have a pair of USB speakers plugged into one of the ports for power and since the monitor also has the 3.5mm headphone jack for audio output, I can plug the speakers into that and receive the audio that is fed over the display port or HDMI output from the graphics card. In addition, this monitor has a height adjustable stand that allows me to get the monitor right at perfect eye level. This at first may not seem like a huge feature, but many cheaper monitors lack height adjusting bases and once you have one, you will appreciate the flexibility.
So, this is a great display for gaming while still being usable for other things. However if gaming is not a high priority you might be better suited by a different monitor that has higher contrast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classy gaming monitor with great picture

I can't offer much in the way of a technical review, but I can say that this monitor is very nice. Mine had no dead pixels and very even lighting. I was able to use FreeSync with my RTX 2080 Super by enabling forced G-Sync compatibility. The monitor works at 144Hz just fine. OSD is easy to navigate.

I love the sleek, minimalist and grown up aesthetic. It also follows the same look and form as other Dell monitors, including P series, so additional displays can be added with a consistent look and feel without running multiple 144Hz gaming monitors.

At this price point it represents a good value as far as gaming monitors go. I wouldn't want to trade it for a flashy, red and black monitor from a brand not necessarily known for outstanding displays. Dell has made great monitors for a long time and I trust them.

The stand is good and the display is very stable. The display portion is pretty thin and light without being flimsy. I plan on eventually mounting it with my second display on a single dual arm mount, and the relatively light weight and very thin bezels are ideal for that.

UPDATE: Monitor is still wonderful, but I've been playing a lot of StarCraft 2 and I find that the 27" screen is just too big for that game. It really takes the minimap, resource and supply information and makes it difficult to keep tabs on them because they are way out of the way. My solution is to purchase a 24" gaming monitor (Dell makes a nice 1440p 165Hz GSync model).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best 27" TN 1440p monitor with variable refresh rate under $500

I'm not one to review products but this one deserves it; mostly due to the fact that for the past 2 years I've been looking for a new gaming monitor to upgrade from my Asus VG248QE (24", 1ms response time, 1080p) which I've been using since 2014. Background on my setup, I have 6 core 5930K CPU at 4.3GHZ, 16GB Ram and GTX 1080Ti. Play mostly high paced FPS such as Unreal Tournament and Quake Champions

I tried and returned several monitors including:
- Dell s2716DG (Terrible banding, some ghosting but the worst part was the anti-glare film which made the image extremely grainy)
- Alienware AW2518H (Anti-glare film made image very grainy, did not seem to do look better than my existing monitor, 240hz did not seem to be a real improvement over 144hz)
- MSI Optix MPG27CQ (Anti-glare film made image very grainy, this monitor had a hair stuck between the panel and the anti-glare film which was very distracting, a couple of dead pixels and also a little bit of ghosting)

The s2719DGF has what I believe is the best type of anti-glare coating, it's non intrusive so it looks Matte and sharp. The response time under the "Fast" setting works perfectly with no ghosting/overshooting. Gsync is working flawlessly at 155hz so far after using for 2 weeks. (Make sure to enable both GSYNC and VSYNC on the nvidia control panel and limit your FPS in game to 3 frames below your refresh rate, in this case 152FPS). Looks great out of the box and all you have to do is lower your Gamma a little bit in the Nvidia control panel to make it look near perfect.

The monitor turns on pretty quick, maybe takes 2 seconds compared to about 6 seconds on my old Asus which used to drive me nuts. Controls are very intuitive and easy to use, the power button is very tiny but you get used to it. Overall the build feels solid, not wobbly and stable on the desk. Display Port cable is not included and its needed to enable Gsync on Nvidia cards

It's a TN panel so viewing angles are not perfect but for gaming its the perfect monitor and I'm glad my search is over.

I bought these over a month ago for a second 3 monitor rig I was building. After doing research and considering a few recommendations from friends I decided to step away from my usual AOC and Asus monitors and try out these Dell bad boys. Boy am I glad I did. Right out of the box I used a display calibration tool, and the colors were factory set to perfection, not just on one, but all 3 monitors I had ordered. It's been over a month of use, and I haven't had a singe issue with any of the monitors I ordered through Amazon. These are labeled as S series but I can hardly see a difference between my U Series Dell monitor I use for photos and videos. Here's a quick break down of my thoughts.

Pros:
- Great value for the cost.
- Amazing picture and video quality.
- Super thin Bezels for a sleek look and feel.
- Very Sturdy build and design.
- Compatible with many cable options & mounts.
- Super fast refresh rate if you play FPS games.

Cons:
- They split my 3 monitor order up, and one of the monitors was delivered 3 days later than the other 2 (even though it was Amazon Prime "guaranteed" delivery)
- Adjusting the monitors via the stand is a bit tough, it's hard to make micro adjustments to match monitors. It took me roughly 15 minutes to line up the monitors the way I wanted, and even then it wasn't perfect (not really the monitors fault, and also doesn't take away from the overall quality of the monitors imo).

All in all this is a solid monitor for your money. I've put it through the ringer in the 1 month I've used it so far, and I can say it looks like it's built to last. I would highly recommend this monitor vs other similar monitors, You won't be disappointed.

Edit: An update, I liked my first monitor so much that I just bought another one. I can't believe how bad my old monitor, the Acer XG270HU, was compared to this one. These are the best monitors I've used in terms of eye strain and usability while still producing pleasing colors. The high resolution, high refresh rate, and semi-gloss coating along with TN like symptoms that are on the minimum (and I personally don't notice after adjusting it), mixed with a great price make this impossible to beat. Semi gloss is very pleasing to look at. I am happier with this monitor than monitors costing over twice as much. It's perfect for me, personally, and my own use cases, hopefully my review helps someone get a great experience from theirs too.

That all being said, I'm seriously considering purchasing two more for my work office space. I think they're that good!

About me: I use this product for gaming and for work. I am a software developer.

Long story short, with some tweaks (my settings are at the bottom), this monitor looks fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality monitor for gaming or work.

When I hooked this monitor up, I was initially disappointed. Colors looked just as washed out, if not more-so, than my current TN monitor (Acer XG270HU). I'd read a lot of reviews praising this monitor but was let down by the out-of-box settings. However, after spending some time tweaking the monitor, I've gotten the colors to "pop" and am completely happy with it. I now see what people mean when they compare the colors on this thing to an IPS. They are very good and honestly do compare to the IPS monitors I've used. It seems the biggest problem of this display is gamma that is set too high by default, and color saturation settings needing to be increased. I would have greatly appreciated the option to adjust gamma on the OSD of the monitor itself, but sadly that can't be done.

Text on this monitor is crystal clear. The anti-glare coating used is better than others in that regard. Seriously, text looks very very good on this thing. For reference, I run windows DPI scaling at 125% because I don't t enjoy squinting. This is my favorite aspect of this monitor. I can look at this thing all day and not be annoyed.

Color uniformity is great - After trying numerous IPS and VA panels, this was my biggest gripe with them, particularly the curved VA panels and all IPS panels I tried. I just can't stand this. When I moved my head from one side of the monitor to the other, google search pages went from light pink to light green from right to left. Or I'd see color temperature hot spots that just looked terrible. The gamma shift that's present in TN monitors does not bother me though, because it's consistent. It's worth noting the gamma shift on this monitor is great for a TN. It's noticeable but minor. I can and will live with it.

I love the physical design of this thing. Dell knocked it out of the park by NOT adding useless RGB lighting or obnoxious "gamer" flare and sticking with a clean and sharp design. It looks straight up classy and should fit in with any desk environment including professional settings. The ergonomic adjustments are classic Dell and work well. It simply feels like a quality product. The USB hub is awesome as I drive this from a laptop and only have to worry about one USB cable to plug into the computer. My peripherals stay plugged into the monitor.

With the above being said, gaming is great on this thing. 155hz is appreciated over 144hz, and freesync works fine with my GTX 1070. No Issues here, loving it.

To conclude, after being disappointed with the VA and IPS high refresh panels on the market, mainly due to uniformity issues that bothered me constantly, I'm very happy to have found a TN monitor without those issues. The viewing angles aren't as good as an IPS, but they're good enough for me. I don't do gymnastics at my desk. I see no need to "upgrade" to another panel type because the colors are just that good on this one. 155hz + excellent colors + a clean and professional design + minor (and expected) gamma shift are a winning recipe. I'll be picking up another shortly.

Settings I use for this monitor (settings not mentioned are not changed from default):
--changed through monitor OSD--

Edit: Updating this based on more recent settings I've found I like better.

Brightness: my settings range from 40 to 60 percent depending on ambient lighting. This thing gets SERIOUSLY bright.
Contrast: 75
Overclocked to 155hz
Freesync on (works great with Nvidia cards)

Preset mode: Custom Color
Gain: R 97, G 92, B 96
Saturation: R 63, G 63, B 63, C 63, M 63, Y 63

--changed through Nvidia control panel--
Gamma: .82

Pretty darn good.

I had a benq monitor for several years and decided to upgrade.

I mainly play on Xbox so this was a pretty good choice until I decide to build a PC.

Colors are pretty good, I don’t have the “halo” that most people seem to have.( must be a lucky monitor).

I did have to calibrate the colors out the box but that’s easy, I just googled a good color setup.

Xbox X :
A lot of people have problems with the Xbox one X so here are my settings.

I switched the display from Auto detect to manual hdmi.

I chose 1080P because I like the higher frame rate (Xbox will support 120).

1440P looks good but you’ll only be able to get 60 frames, but most games cap out at that anyways.

Xbox one X won’t let you run 1440P at 120, I know for a fact the monitor can support it so after some research it seems to be a hardware CAP for the Xbox. So don’t stress, the next gen Xbox will more than likely support it.

The color bit I put on 12.

Check “allow 50 hertz”( standard for European countries if you live there).

Make sure to change color setting from RGB to YCC.

Allow free sync.

Monitor :

I have the response time set to Very fast.

Some people say they see ghosting or “artifacts”.

I don’t see that at all. I’ve played rainbow six siege, borderlands, battlefield, etc and I either don’t have that problem, or my eyes can’t register it lol. And trust me I spend my time looking at solid objects moving back and forth to see if I can pick up any ghosting.
None so far.

I have free sync enabled on the monitor.

And that’s pretty much about it. As I said earlier you can look up the color settings online to find what best suits you.

My settings:
Gain- R97, G92, B96
Saturation : 63 across the board
Sharpness : 70%

My brightness is all the way down, I have a dark room.

Feel free to ask questions if you need some help, I’m at work so I don’t remember every single setting off the top of my head. But I’ll make sure to update this once I get home.

Edit : I put the Xbox display on recommended in the settings, 1440, with free sync on, response time fast.

Response time on super fast has noticeable Coronas and ghosting, but on fast, can’t see it at all. Or it’s at a very good minimum.

Colors PC RGB
YCC enabled.

It runs at 60 frames but that’s basically all the games anyway, free sync really works good as well.

10/30/19 (EDIT)

Okay so after some extensive game play these are the settings I currently run all the time now.

HDMI on Xbox is set to autodetect.
I have it at 1440P at 60 frames with the Variable refresh rate on.

The monitors response time is set to fast.

I’ve been hammering out some R6 and those setting are what I’ve been liking the most.

I’ve maxed out the settings before and let me tell you it did help me perform but I finally noticed the ghosting and “artifacts” people talk about. Nothing I couldn’t play through but I did find it a bit annoying so that’s why my settings changed.

Other than that the monitor runs great.
No “halo” no dead pixels. Everything you’d expect for the price.

Update : 05/18/2020

The monitor is still working perfectly. No dead pixels no damage or anything. It also works perfectly for my PC build.

Note: The monitors free sync will only work with graphics cards that have free sync. So AMD would work but Nvidia with G-sync will not.

My PC build (Runs pretty much every game on “ultra settings” at 1440P aka 2K)

Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 (3rd Gen)
Graphics card - AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
Mother board - MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
Memory - Intel SSD 6 , Model number is 978350
RAM - DDR4 Rip jaw V 16 gigabytes but I’m upgrading to 32. It’s over kill but that’s what I like.
Power Supply - Cooler Master. MasterWatt 650 Bronze.

This build is freaking good. It runs every game I have on Max settings and Frame Count is always over 100.
