I bought this to replace a brand new EVGA 1000w Gold that was DOA. This power supply was significantly more expensive than the 1000w, but I didn't really need 1000w and I did need this ASAP (next day delivery) so I reluctantly paid the extra money.

What I like: all modular, use only the cables you need. All cables are very heavy-duty and bound in an unobtrusive black cable sleeve. I needed an 8+4 CPU power cable, this has 8+8 (4+4, 4+4), so this should work for future upgrades. It's also extremely quiet.

What I don't like: The price, first of all - but oh well. I honestly don't care that it has a power-saving setting to prevent the fan from turning on except under higher loads - but the positioning of the switch for this setting is incredibly inconvenient; it's behind all the cabling, in fact you can't even see it once it's installed, nor can you reach it with the cables plugged in. As such, I just left the switch off, so the fan runs all the time. It's not loud at all, can't even hear it over my other fans.

Since my purchase before this was the DOA EVGA, I was leery about buying the same brand again - but looking at reviews of other brands, DOA items are a gripe from all of them - just luck of the draw, I guess. I'm happy with this PS, but the price did hurt!

Product lasted 10 months. Loud popping sound followed by a burnt electrical smell. To It's credit it tried to restart my pc but I quickly shut it down. Also to its credit my system wasn't hurt and seems to work/game fully on my old power supply. I will update this after I RMA.

Edit 2 > They (Denied) me my warranty because of an installation paint scuff(pictured). I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years. I regret buying my 1080ti from them. I'll find a brand that is loyal to it's customers. Very disappointed here.

Edit 3 > I rated this to 3 again. I've had PSU's destroy everything when they go bad and yours didn't. That's worth points.
After the bad reviews and pictures the same day EVGA contacted me with a refund. It shouldnt need to go this far but it is what it is. Love EVGA graphics cards. I'll return for more of those.

Bad experience with the PSU. EVGA should probably consider stronger consumer confidence tactics in regards to these. Just me two cents.

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly satisfied customer

It is a great product at a good price. With the Titanium rating you know that you are getting a high efficiency power supply and with the name (EVGA) you can be confident in the quality. Some of the nice features of the power supply are:

1. Jacketed Cables - For those of you doing open case builds or using windowed cases, the jacketed cables add a nice clean touch.
2. 2nd CPU Jack - I've personally never used this feature, but for those of you with the funds, the CPU's and the proper motherboard this could be a nice feature.
3. Cable Ties - Again for open builds or for good airflow the provided EVGA Velcro cable ties allow you to add a nice clean finishing touch by bundling or tying down your cables without resorting to zip ties or twistys.
4. Heavy Duty Protection - I've actually had a short in my electrical system (bad wall outlet which also caused a small fire) where I fried one of these power supplies. After dealing with the outlet, all I had to do was replace the power supply and everything down line (the CPU, the Motherboard, the memory, hard drive, etc.) worked perfectly. Honestly, that being said, I don't know what stronger endorsement I can give this product. It saved my computer and me thousands of dollars.
5. Eco Mode - Generally users and gamers in particular like the quietest rig possible. After all who doesn't like to hear themselves think or to listen to the sound track of their video game. This particular power supply has an Eco mode, which means when it is only under a light load the fan doesn't run (which means no sound) and from personal experience when the fan does run it is very quite.

Negatives - There are always a couple:

1. Add2PSU - For those of you who want to daisy chain several of these together to power one computer (which is probably not the typical user) EVGA products apparently don't work with an Add2PSU
Add2PSU Multiple Power Supply Adapter , which is a popular way to do this. This is from my own experience (with 3 separate Add2PSU's) and from reading similar user reviews. That doesn't mean that there are not other ways to do this, but an Add2PSU likely won't work.
2. Finish - This one is pretty subjective, but if you are doing a windowed case or open build you might be going for a certain look. The rougher texturing on this power supply and the more rounded edges may or may not work with the particular look that you are going for. This one is more picky for sure, but could be an issue.
3. Cost - Titanium power supplies will always be more expensive due to the higher end components used to obtain the higher efficiency rating. For someone on a budget their money may be better spend elsewhere. Unless you are pulling a lot of power continuously, the payback period on a higher efficiency power supply is usually pretty long.

I've bought several of these, and I might buy several more in the near future :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of the line power + protection. Crappy fan.

I just unplugged my old evga modular psu and put this one in in a couple mins. It works good and it comes with any and every cable I could ask for! My couple year old evga 1000 watt platinum blew up a few weeks ago because of high humidity/intense condensation (I wasn't paying attention). I went to turn my pc on and a bright blue light came out of the back of the psu and I heard a loud popping. It saved all of my pc components from all damage, it took the fall and worked as it should. I decided to upgrade and I figured evga wouldn't rma the old one anyway. I'm pretty happy with these power supplies.

Update 4/26/2017: My 1600W EVGA T2 is still working good but the fan has just started making a weird noise. Quality control needs to be improved. I'm thinking about doing an RMA because it's getting annoying, good thing for the long warranty. Also the fan is pretty damn loud, probably about 50 percent louder than my other fans. It's definitely the loudest fan in my case and I have 6 140mm Corsair case fans, a 120mm Corsair case fan, two 120mm Noctua CPU fans and three fans on the GPU. The fan on these are basically junk, they're extremely low quality. I spent about $430 for this and they just use some cheap noisy fan that probably costs them $3... There's no reason it should stop working correctly after only about 6 months and only being on a few hours a day.. The Antec fans in my old Antec 1200 case lasted like 6 years and still work fine to this day.. I would use Eco mode but when I do the PSU gets REALLY hot, like almost burning to the touch and the fan doesn't seem to turn on at all with Eco mode, even with heavy gaming/power usage with an overclocked 6850K and 780Ti.

Update: Feb/01/2018
The power supply fan no longer makes any weird noise and hasn't for a few months. I'm not sure why, but I'll take it! Changing review back to five star.

At first I was scared because it came with the wrong power cord. But to my surprise the company reached out to us consumers that recieved the wrong power cords and sent us the correct one. Not one complaint with this power supply. It just works. Quiet and so far reliable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best PSU available.
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2015

Best power supply available! Modular cabling, so you only have the cables you need instead of needing to tie down a bunch of unused cable leads. 1600 watts from a standard 110/120 outlet. Titanium level of efficiency. Stable and steady power flow. I only use EVGA power supply units. They stand behind their products with great customer support and a 10 year warranty on these PSUs. This PSU can be used with the North American standard 110/120 volt or the 220/240 volt of other power grids. The modular cabling allows the user to select which internal power cables are needed, plug them into the PSU, store the extras and avoid unnecessary cable clutter inside the system. When you handle this power supply, you see and feel the quality of it. It is a very heavy duty design and it includes an attachment that allows you disconnect from the MB and power up the unit so you can get things like a liquid cooling system primed and flowing without endangering the components being cooled. It also includes the attachments necessary to support dual PSUs. Sometimes, getting a liquid cooling system primed can be a bit of chore and take some time to get it flowing correctly, If you are doing this while the components are powered up, you have the potential of causing damage due to overheating. But with the PSU powered up independently of the motherboard, you can get the pumps going, get the coolant flushed through the tubing and be sure that things are working correctly before going hot. The only thing to be aware of is the power usage with a 1600 watt PSU. If you draw the full 1600 watts while plugged into a 110 volt outlet, that is 14.5 amps by itself. Most standard outlets are only capable of handling 15 amps. I actually installed a 20 amp outlet beside the existing 15 amp outlets to be sure I had sufficient supply for everything. Also, if you are using a UPS (Interruptible Power supply, also called a battery backup,) you need to make sure you have a UPS that can handle 14.5 amps for this PSU plus any other devices plugged into it, such as the displays. I use an UPS that is designed to provide a 20 amp output. A small 650 VA UPS (the ones that cost $50 to $80) is probably not able to handle the load. But, that warning would apply to any PSU with a high wattage rating.

Installed in my PC way back in 2014, and it has been reliable until very recently. Good noise level, and nice quality cables too.

If your PC starts having problems where it shuts off near full load, it would be worth investigating this PSU as that seems to be my problem. It seems like it can’t ride out the sudden power demand changes near full load.

I had such a good experience with this PSU that I bought another as it’s replacement.

EVGA is one of the best companies to get your power supply from and this is one of their best power supplies and it's priced just right and they usually have 8 to 10 year warranties through them.

5.0 out of 5 stars This EVGA Supernova 850 T2, 80+ Titanium 850W, Fully Modular is the best supply in its class!

Dunno why, but in the last month I had two brand new supplies fail in a row. Both $150 range Corsair and EVGA 850s that showed up already defective or failed within minutes. The Corsair took an entire new build out with it. The EVGA showed up with a funky 12v rail right out of the box. Doesn't say much about quality control anymore does it? These days the manufacturer name doesn't mean as much, it is the actual model that sets them apart, or not. And there is no way to build right cheaper!
Every review out there puts this EVGA Supernova 850 T2, 80+ Titanium 850W, Fully Modular at the top of the game. Yeah, its a hundred papers more than most. I learned the hard way that extra cash can be lost in a heartbeat by convincing yourself that good is good enough when looking at reviews and weighing it against the risk. My motto is to give yourself some head room on any build by sizing things over your needs for a ton of reasons. The core being the power supply and most if not all computer builders will tell you to add in a good 100W over your power needs to build a safety margin. Lots of posts out there describing the tech why's. Then do your homework! Start reading reviews.
Pretty much like the foundation in your house if it has any fault the entire house is worthless. What sane builder would build a home on a foundation others have had fail? I get trying to save a few bucks, we all do. BUT. Those few extra coins you may save buying a decent supposedly good enough supply 'may' pay off, but what if it doesn't? Nothing like a great smoke show on a new $3K computer to sober a guy up! Don't be me. Trust me, I will never do it that way ever again.
Do this!
Buy this truly great power supply, and do it right. Don't just read the reviews and justify your purchase with risk. Every other supply model out there has had failures! Bar none! This model however is as bullet proof as they can come. Then you have ease of mind tossing your gnarly hard earned power hungry money pit on top of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A "Bear" of a Power Supply
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2022
Size: 1600 WattStyle: SupernovaVerified Purchase
This unit is big - no it's really big, we barely got it into the case and then due to baffles in that case there was no room for wire geography. It is 1600 watts so the size may be understandable. One thing that is VERY important with this (and other +1500 watt) units is the cables supplied. This comes with, I believe, 16 gauge cables. The majority of power supplies use 18 gauge cables (in case your not aware the lower number is a thicker cable - normal house wiring is 12 gauge). so don't substitute a cable you have lying around. Also you cannot use any of the extension cables listed as they are all 18 gauge. We normally build with custom made cables, made to size, so 16 gauge is not an issue. If you power your motherboard, using this power supply, and happen to use an 18 gauge cable it will be a problem. At best the cable will melt, at worst your motherboard will be damaged.

Anyway, this is a good 1600 watt power supply, but when all is said and done we prefer the Be Quite 1500 watt which at this time is a more sophisticated unit, and BTW smaller. But that unit has unique cables also because it uses proprietary plugs & cables.

I don’t know why PSU don’t have longer 24 pin connectors, but sometimes I have trouble with CPU 8pin, but it was long enough. I like that it has dedicated 8 pin connectors for the graphic cards that don’t split off. I have a 1000D and this behemoth barely fit so be warned. You’ll need 220mm of space.

It has a switch at the front to stop the fans from spinning when not using much power, and yes when the fans are on it’s slightly noisy, you can hear it, But it’s not bad, it’s just when surfing the web I like it quiet.

Bought it for prepping for overclocking one day. Hoping this power supply will last a long time. At Microcenter a miner told me has have 750w and 1000w blow on him. I just don’t have the money right now for watercooling and other things so I might recommend getting a 750w or cheap power supply and using for a cupple of years until you need the power. Not sure if I made a very good money decision but power supply and computer parts when I was buying were going off the shelf fast, everyone needs a power supply. It seems that 1000w and everything above will cost $2-400+. One thing that made me get above 1000w was that I’m noticing a trend that graphic cards are requiring more power and the RTX 3080 was requiring more than a 850w PSU for some people. I went with EVGA because they have a warranty that I think I can trust, I think Corsair has good customer service though because they sent me a free fan tray for my 1000D case even though you can’t buy it online.
