5.0 out of 5 starsSystem is Great, but Battlefront is not...
Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2015
I feel I should state I'm not a PS fanboy - I own / have owned: Atari, 64, Gameboy, Wii, PS2, Nintendo, Xbox and enjoy games from all platforms. I got this as an early Christmas gift and am quite pleased with the PS4 system. It actually went on sale for $299 so was quite a deal.

The interface was hard to get use to, I previously had an Xbox 360 that I sold after I found out I could play most of the games on Steam using an Xbox controller; the two are quite different. I personally prefer the app style home screen of the Xbox 360 , but it didn't take long to get around on the PS4.

A drawback was the setup - I didn't understand a lot of the questions I was answering in regards to "rest mode" and ended up having more questions - for instance how long does it take to charge the controller so I can have rest mode set to x amount of hours? Do games download while in rest mode? What do the colors mean on the remote? All things I had to Google. For those interested; 2 hours to charge (so I changed rest mode to 2 hours vs. 3.) Yes you can download games in rest mode. Remote colors change for fun (from what I can tell) which makes sense because my Alienware laptop does the same thing when playing dying light.

The system came sufficiently packaged and with everything included as expected; controller, usb charging cable, Battlefront DL code etc. I was surprised to find an HDMI cable was included with the system and that the power plug is only 2 prong.

I was thrilled to find out it also plays blu-ray discs - I primarily wanted this to play the games I couldn't get on Steam and had previously looked into a blu-ray player, but this took care of that which made the price even more of a steal.

Something I didn't appreciate was not getting my free 14 day PS Plus trial. In the booklet and all over the Playstore it said if I signed up through the Playstore I could get the two weeks on top of my purchase, which wasn't the case. With my Xbox 360 it was simple to sign up for my free 30 day trial of Xbox Live. The PS4 may be over complicated in some areas, but I'm still happy with it.

The Battlefront game is quite horrible - unless you have PS Plus you're stuck with playing a handful of Missions in solo mode and even with PS Plus the online play gets boring fairly quickly. If I had to do it again I'd get the Uncharted bundle. I have cable internet at around 50mbps so to download the Battlefront game it took around 1-2 hours. If you want your kids to be able to open this and play right away I'd suggest buying an addition game on disc.

I did like PS4 at first. We used it for a lot of things. Then the remote just decided to not turn on or charge. So I had to pay for shipping it to them to fix. They shipped it back pretty quickly and it worked. Okay, whatever. But now my system won't turn off. It will power off and then turn on by itself. I think it's the remote somehow triggering it. Now I have to go through the hassle again, and it's not like I can email them and tell them what's going on at my convenience.. No. I have to wait for their PT business hours to "chat" with someone. Unacceptable. This product is so expensive, they could certainly afford a 24 hour call line, or at least give the option to email. There is no way it should be breaking within 6 months, am I right? Two times. I don't have the time or money to be sending all this back in, but I'm responsible for shipping their DEFECTIVE products back to them. Why? We had an Xbox for YEARS before this, never once did we have an issue with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ps4 is awesome.... i think!

Consoles are always changing we've seen our gaming consoles transform into living-room hubs through constant evolution and software updates. Those updates weren't always smooth – though on PS3, they were always happening – but it's easy to see just how far the platform has come. PS4 Is a great update from its predecessor . The Graphics are amazing. Everybody whom i know that has bought an XBOX one has been disappointed. I do complain that Sony seems to have Thrown privacy out the window with this one. A lot of people randomly try to add other people on the PSN and that could cause for some severe privacy issues with features like First and Last name and a new PSN community .

People who got the system for Christmas this year also had 2 days of downtime where the PSN was down because of confirmation emails . Which is greatly annoying if you are an existing PSN customer and able to log in on your PS3 or online but not on your PS4 without confirmation. Shrugs. Then again we were down for 2 days the next week because of issues with the system being down entirely . This is very frustrating because now the online service is a pay for only service. I hope this is not a everyweek thing because so far since Christmas it has been .

This review Shall be finished at a later date. To be continued !

5.0 out of 5 stars the PS4 is an amazing console. Games install

I'll try and keep this review short and to the point.

First, the PS4 is an amazing console. Games install, and download quickly(something that was a problem with the Xbox One), the graphics are
not high end PC graphics, but at the price, definitely worth it.
The controller is a very comfortable controller and looks sharp.

Secondly, Star Wars Battlefront.
This game is a hotbed of controversy.
It isn't what we asked for(SWBF2 but in HD), but for what it is, it does it's job.
If you like Call of Duty, you will like this game.
It's fast-paced and fun, but the gameplay isn't deep.

The graphics are stunning and are the major selling point of the game.
Sound is also very good, and blasters and the like sound as they should.

Thirdly, the other games.
The classic Star Wars games included are fun distractions, but nothing really meaningful.

As a bundle, this is a great deal and worth it for new PS4 players.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun times for an old guy

After enjoying a Wii U with my family for the last year, I couldn't help but feel that I was missing out on more...mature games. When I heard that Battlefront was coming out, I figured I could use another console. So far so good. The PS4 itself looks nice, is relatively compact, has a comfortable controller, and an easy UI. Setup was a breeze, and all of the game codes worked just fine.

Many people are upset that Battlefront has no campaign yet costs the same as any other new AAA game and future DLC costs more money. Honestly, I'm more surprised at the cost of new indie games that look like they were designed for the NES. I don't have a lot of time to devote to gaming - maybe five hours per week. I enjoy the ability to jump into a multiplayer game like Battlefront for an hour here and there. The gameplay is fun, and the graphics and sound are amazing.

Love the console. Love all of the games that came with it. A lot of people are complaining about the fact that the games are digital downloads, but if you read the product details, it clearly tells you that they are digital download. If you don't like that, you have no reason to complain because you should've known before you bought this bundle. The game itself is really good. If you don't have a good internet connection and/or you don't want to get a PlayStation Plus membership, then don't get this. The offline gameplay is very, very limited. However, the online play (which requires PS plus like all PS4 games) is absolutely amazing. The people that complain about the game probably don't have Internet or PS Plus. As far as the packaging and delivery are concerned, I was very satisfied with both. It was packaged very well, and I used the standard free shipping and still received this item within 3 days. All in all, this was a very good purchase and I would definitely recommend it.

Arrived faster than I was expecting which is always a plus. I ordered it for a Christmas present for my husband and he was so excited. Everything came in great condition and we have yet to have any real issues. The only thing he had an issue with was that the games were not pre loaded onto the console and it took hours and hours to finally finish downloading onto the console. I had already known of this issue since I read the reviews during the time of purchasing, but he was not very pleased and became very impatient. I liked that this system also came with the previous versions of the different star wars games as well...even if we do have those same original games and consoles still even after all this time. Loved the fact that the price for this console has also dropped.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price rough game
Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2015

First of all this will be a review of the bundle as a whole. The console is great any the price cannot be beaten. In addition, the four classic games are great and honestly way more fun than battlefront. The battlefront game is essentially a workout simulator. The running and dying aspects are spot on. It's like working out in real life except the fact that it doesn't get better with time and you are fatter than you were when you started. The game feels like star wars 100%, but that's really it. It's almost as if the devs had a real lack of vision with what this game should be. It is certainly not battlefront or battlefield, its something far worse. It's almost like every question was answered with star wars. Do people want balanced, consistent weapons? Nah the like star wars. Do people like good spawns? Nah star wars. Do people like having fun? Nah star wars. Do people like good map design? Nah they like star wars. And the list of grievances continues. This game is so great on the surface but it has less meat to it than the Phantom Menace. With barely any maps, barely any weapons, inconsistency, a lack of everything, and horrible usage of the most basic mechanics like spawning, the game is an utter mess. The thing is, I keep playing because I like star wars and its horrible. I wanted a good game that was Star wars like so many games that went before it. However, battlefront is really just a star wars skin on the worst game ever. If this game didn't look like star wars, no one would play it. The problems would be unacceptable, but the star wars logo is its only redeeming factor and selling point.

5.0 out of 5 stars PS4 is a 100% win!

I decided to upgrade the hard drive to 1TB before I downloaded any games in order to prevent future storage issues. It has been a perfect system. The organization of the home screen is better than the Xbox One's home screen. As a person who owns both the PS4 and the Xbox One, i'may offering a perspective that is not based off of youtube videos. The PS4 has extremely fast processing and never freezes on me. Rest mode for the PS4 is handy when I need to use the USB ports while having the system turned off. The built-in capture card is handy, but the quality is a little disappointing. Having Battlefront in this bundle is a real treat. I never knew this before I bought the system, but the controller has a motion sensor offering quick motion based typing instead of using the normal buttons for typing. The PS4 is smaller, lighter, and faster than the Xbox One. No matter what bundle you buy, this system is definitely recommended. Sony killed it in this generation of console and I hope they continue to satisfy us customers in the future as they have with the PS4.

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest Gamer's Review
Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2016

I'm reviewing what I bought only. Not the future of the system's potential. Not banging on the battle drum of which console is going to win this gen's favor, which is like coke and pepsi if you ask me.

I'm very happy with my purchase of this PS4 Bundle. I've been saving up for 2 years. I was a bit upset to see the price jump from $350 to $400 when I finally went to buy it, but I can't blame them. You get 5 games with this:
PS4 Battlefield
N64 Pod Racer
PS2 Space Fighter
PS2 Bubba Fett story
Super Nintendo Star Wars

Comments on the Console itself:
-The options button is in a weird spot, it doesn't feel natural to hit it, and being that it took over the "Start" button this becomes a annoyance.
-There is a light on the controller that you can't turn off,you can dim it but not turn it off completely.
=It uses a Micro USB to charge, which feels like a flimsy, easy to bend spot, I figure it's designed well but I'm not sure why they didn't just go ahead and use a USB 3.0, it charges faster and is newer technology.
-Cant give yourself a new PSN name
+Uses the same wires as the 3, just encase you loose/break them.
+Rest Mode, which is like a Standby for you to jump back into the same moment Hrs later. uses low electricity.

Comments on the Main Game (you know the reason you bought this one):
<Offline Experience Review->
There are only 3 modes for the "Single" player:
*Training- Fly a ship around for about 4 minutes, and the only time you get to pilot in Single Player.
*Battle- Like Deathmatch but makes you collect tokens from the AiBot you just killed, first to 100 wins. It has a "Hero" selection where you get to play as an OP "Cameo" Character that doesn't let you go into 1st person mode because they had to pay those copyright fees and by golly are going to get the most of it.
*Survival-The best mode IMO, last man alive feel. Hold out for 15 waves, occasional AT-ST that makes you feel pretty vulnerable, and the only solo replay value I see.
+Graphics+really well done, the motions are fluid and look real, along with the textures and fabric, Faces are always odd but the first look at whats to come from Next Gen.
-Install-After the 20GB download you have/get to play as Invulnerable Vader and take out "Rebel Scum" as the game installs. Neat feature but after about 30 mins I got bored, then when it hit the HR mark at 36% I got frustrated and found myself <SearchEngine>ing it to see some people got stuck in this purgatory for about 4hrs. Do yourself a favor and PUT YOUR SYSTEM IN REST MODE AS IT INSTALLS and it will shoot by in about 15 mins (don't quote me on that but it's way less) if nothing else then I hope you read that.
-TheRocketLauncher- I'm sorry I mean "Torpedo", won't let you fire at anything other than Vehicles. The price you pay but gets you through survival.
-Endor'sBrush- I wish you could hide in it and sniper off but instead you get a auto target plastered on your head like you are wearing a LightTower for a hat.

All in all System **** (4 Stars)
Game *** (3 Stars)

Maybe If I could spend the $15/month to get online I would see more value, but for that price I'll just get GameFly with New Games starting at $60 just to be like this and 1886.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great deal for PS4, game is a throw in/not that great on its own
Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2015

***Updated after price reduction to $299.

Initially bought this at $350 and was upset but after the price reduction its hard to pair the game with the console / this is basically buying the PS4 and getting the game free. Overall, I've been happy with the PS4. The Media Player update recently allowed users to play video's from a USB which is convenient (not present for a while, but existed in PS3). The interface is relatively streamlined and using the console is a nice experience overall. The 12-month PS+ membership is currently $50, which isn't too bad if you are going to use it for a few titles (required for multiplayer modes). Overall I am happy with the PS4 and would give it 5 stars - but since Battlefront was a reason for my purchase its definitely at least somewhat applicable to review it here. If you are interested in the PS4 and debating bundles, I would recommend going with another choice unless you want the cheapest console price and are buying non-bundled games exclusively (then this is your best deal).

Battlefront has no legitimate single player content (5 'training' modes that take ~1.5 hours to complete with all achievements and some survival modes which drop you on a map and let you solo waves of enemies by yourself for 30+ minutes which is pretty one-note). The maps are lacking with only half a dozen or so free maps - DICE is relying on players to buy the season pass for further expansions (will cost the price of a whole new game). That's an unpleasant situation when the base game really doesn't have much depth to it and you might be throwing good money after bad. The graphics are amazing - but the actual GAME isn't really anything besides training mode and ~10 different flavors of 3-10 minute multiplayer games.

I get that they are trying to capitalize on the Star Wars release, but it really shows in the quality of the game. I really appreciate that Sony dropped the price after its release, and I would say that as a throw in I am happy with the game but definitely wouldn't buy it as my only game for the console/buy the game outright.
