Update to my review! I had to last month take the receiver in for repair at my local repair shop but it was covered by pioneer 1 year warranty. Now for the reason why I had to take it in, the main-board where all the HDMI ports are went bad, I was not getting any sound out of it now mind you this was my second unit that I got in the Beginning of November 2016 and the first time was the month before October 2016 when I first purchased it from amazon, I sent it back the first time because the remote stopped working.
I still like the system and it took my local repair shop about 2 weeks to fix it, but man brand new system having issue like that in less then 5 months is not good
Really thinking about selling this receiver and upgrading to a 9.2 of another brand other then pioneer or onkyo cause when I did some research onkyo receivers was having the same no sound issue
Update I am now able to have surround back and height speakers I bought an 2013 7.1 Onkyo receiver off craigslists for an $100 to run my surround back speakers I ran an HDMI from the Sub out to the HDMI input on the Onkyo and now I have 7.1.2 set up, I have been running this set up for a couple of months now so I upped the rating 1 star
I got this receiver Saturday from amazon I am still learning it I updated it once Monday and today via wireless now its dtsX capable I verified it by putting on the huntsman 2016 movie the only movie I got with the dtsX format and it worked didn't really get the chance to judge the sound quality though of dtsX and the same can almost be said for the receiver it self cause I have spending time running new speaker wires setting up ceiling speakers and playing around and learning a new i got so still lots to learn about the receiver but I like it so far coming from an 2009 yamaha
It have 9 outputs altogether 4 for the surround back and height. I dont know why but it having the ability to automatically switch from SB to height amazes me if you watch an atmos movie height speakers come on if its just 7.1 or 5.1 HDMA of trueHD it turns on the surround back speakers nice Feature even though I wanted to use all my speakers at once no matter the sound format is.
