5.0 out of 5 starsSupercharged Home Networking Experience
Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2024
The Linksys EA8300 Max-Stream AC2200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router has taken my home networking experience to a new level. The tri-band technology ensures a robust and stable connection across all my devices, and the AC2200 speed is more than sufficient for streaming, gaming, and heavy data transfers. The setup was straightforward, and the router's user interface was intuitive, allowing easy management of my home network. With a seamless roaming feature, I can move around my home without losing connection, which is a big plus. Overall, this router offers exceptional value for its price and is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home wireless network.

1.0 out of 5 starsFool Me Twice, Shame On Me
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2017
I upgraded from an N300 router so as you can imagine this has breathed new life into my internet connection. The user interface is a bit weird. It takes a while to find what you're looking for in particular. The software/interface is far from perfect. I've encountered issues with it not displaying all of my connected devices until I power the router off and then back on again. On occasion I can't even access the interface and it will not show me an option to connect locally rather than using the smart wifi login. This is a huge hindrance, especially when I'm trying to troubleshoot the problem. Not having access to the interface also means I can't click/tap "restart router" so I have to flip the power switch manually. For the price I would expect something a bit more reliable.
As far as speed goes it seems to work well on my newer devices. I've been having hiccups with older wireless cards so I'm still tweaking the settings and trying to iron out the kinks. I can vouch for it's ability to stream very well to Steam Link. My Steam Link is connected to the 5ghz band and my Steam client is run from a PC connected via ethernet. I have no noticeable lag and the audio will cut or skip very seldom. I had my PC connected through 2.4ghz but the audio dropped frequently and occasionally the gameplay would lag by 2 to 3 seconds.
The range on this router is awesome. The ground level of my house is a little over 1,700 sq. ft. and I have 3 out of 4 bars from 5ghz at the opposite end of the house. This is passing through two walls and lots of furniture. I owned a competitor router briefly, which could not transmit even half of that distance.
I have a 4tb external drive hooked up to the USB port. Transfer speeds are great and it's nice to be able to turn local storage into networked. I have it locked down so I am the only one who can login but I do have a Raspberry Pi 2 connected via ethernet running as NAS with a hefty flash drive for everyone else on the network to access.
All-in-all, the hardware in this router performs well but the software leaves something to be desired. I'm thinking about flashing DD-WRT if it's an option. I used it on my last Linksys and it worked way better than the stock firmware/software. I just need to do some research to make sure it doesn't break any of the functionality.

Update 08/23/2017:
Unfortunately, DD-WRT isn't available for this router yet. I have to restart the router almost daily because the Wi-Fi will randomly disconnect from some devices and reconnect only to drop again. It will do this on an infinite loop until I restart it. Another issue is that it will drop the speed to something on par with Dial-Up. I was unable to download an 80mb file this morning because it was slower than molasses. I gave up after five minutes of waiting for it to creep up to 4.6mb downloaded. I have a 100mb connection. This shouldn't be an issue. If there's no ETA for DD-WRT I might be returning this router and buying something more reliable.

Update 08/24/2017:
Had to restart the router once this morning and just had to power cycle it because I couldn't access it again. As soon as the replacement arrives on my doorstep this thing is going back. For reference, I have about 14 devices connected at any given time. Most of those are Wi-Fi switches for home automation. At most, I'll have 3 computers running simultaneously.

Update 01/26/2018:
I ended up getting the AC4000 through another site for half the price it's selling here. It has all of the same issues. Disabling "Smart Connect" did alleviate some of my 5ghz issues. My 5ghz devices would randomly get stuck in an endless connect/disconnect loop until I rebooted the router. The interface is still garbage. Half of your settings are more easily accessed using the phone app and the other half from PC. The router will randomly decide it doesn't want to load anything from anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes at a time, with no indication of connection issues or why it feels the need to shut off your connection. This happens across every interface: wireless, wired, and network connections via USB. I had hoped the AC4000 would be a beast with it's upgraded hardware but it's just as unreliable as the AC2200. DD-WRT is not an option because Linksys locked their devices. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a Netgear Nighthawk or something similar to replace it with after taxes.

5.0 out of 5 stars So great!

We had the same router and modem for years through our local cable/internet provider. We have 2 tvs/rokus upstairs, an echo upstairs, 2 tvs/rokus downstairs, an Amazon portal, nintendo switch, cell phones, lab tops, a roku in basement.. a family of 4 with a lot of tech stuff I guess! We purchased a signal booster to put between the living room (router location) and our bedroom because our TV was constantly losing signal but it just would never seem to help. We couldn't watch any streaming service without constant interruptions of losing signal, freezing, etc.
I found this router and we decided let's just try it and see if that's the problem. It was very easy to install- my husband plugged it in and connected it to the modem we have. Then he downloaded an app on his phone and followed the instructions to name our internet wifi signal and set the password. We then went through all our devices and connected them all to the network. We then tested our TV and not once has it lost signal since! We haven't had any connectivity issues at all on anything actually.
I really like that in the app you can see all the connected devices on the network, name them so you can easily tell who's TV, device, phone, etc is each one. And you can give signal priority to certain devices so let's say some one is working from home on a day, you can prioritize their laptop so they have the best signal during their video chat (or whatever situation applies to you).
It has 3 antennas you can aim in different directions, but ours is in a cabinet under our TV and it's definitely projecting signal everywhere we need it.
I highly recommend this router to any family with multiple devices that wants smooth use for everyone using the wifi!

This wifi router works very well for me. The output signal speed via both WIFI and Ethernet cable connection have reached my internet service provider's input (400 Mbps) to my home, which is already excellent. This is the most smooth installation I have experienced for the home WIFI setup.

Works great with fiber lines. It can handle alot of extra use from frequent friends signing in while 6 use it daily plus the security cameras. We've had up to 25 things running threw it at 1 time with no slow down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage on our 1800 sf house
Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2024
Style: 1500 Sq ft, 10 Devices, 1.7 GbpsVerified Purchase
This router, purchased on Amazon in March 2024, turns out to be version 3 of the hardware, which is the newest. The Linksys seems to have just as much coverage as our previous Netgear Nighthawk router, which it replaced.

I did NOT use the easy setup, which requires connection to the internet first. That would not have been possible with our setup, as we have a static IP from our ISP, and things such as DNS must be entered manually. User interface was reasonably easy to figure out. Note that if you want your LAN to be anything but 192.168.0.x, you must first change the router IP in settings. For example, if you want 192.168.27.x, then change the router IP to 192.168.27.1, then change the DHCP range and netmask. If the above seems cryptic, don't worry about it - it likely doesn't apply to you, and the auto setup should work just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Have A Weak Signal - PLEASE Go To Linksys' Website For A Live Chat
Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2024
Style: 1500 ft, 10+ Devices, 1.7 GbpsVerified Purchase
My Geekee Security Camera was having difficulty with weak WIFI signal. I even bought a WIFI Extender, hoping for improved signal strength due to old plaster walls (returned extender because equipment's not compatible with my ISP - Spectrum Internet).

I am so happy and grateful I did a Live Chat with Linksys! Marianne D at Linksys Live Chat (Technical Support agent), is beyond AWESOME! Problem SOLVED, no further assistance required (and NO EXTENDER needed). Changed 2.4 GHz channel on WIFI Router, and the camera has a medium signal strength now - it's no longer weak. Fist bump and God bless Marianne D! She troubleshooted with me, and saved me from spending at least $80.00 for an extender I do not need. THAT'S outstanding customer service! Hooyah!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works pretty well but wouldn't let me connect one time.
Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2024

I mean for how cheap it is you really can't go wrong with this. It's got a 2.4ghz and 5ghz band which was big for me, it lets me reach my max speeds with my provider even over WiFi with multiple people connected, and generally was pretty easy to setup. What I will say you should know about though is one time my computer just disconnected from the network when I got home, and both the 2.4 and 5ghz networks simply said "Can't Connect". After a few minutes it let me connect again, but for something that happened week 1 of owning it, just something you should take note of.
