5.0 out of 5 stars I hate to say but there is nothing like an iPhone.
Reviewed in India on October 11, 2017

Being an iPhone user for last 5 year I switched to android for 6 months. Even though android has improved but was missing the stability and smoothness of iOS. iPhone 8 plus is an improvement in every sense.

Pros are great camera, stellar battery life and great stereo speakers. Only 1 con, its a bit heavy compared to last gen due to glass back.

About Camera:
This is the best smartphone camera I have ever used and I have used most flagships of 2016/17. It has a ultra fast shutter speed and it’s almost impossible to take a blurry photo with this one. Studio lighting Feature is nice to have. It has a far better camera than 7 plus and Samsung s8.

Battery :
I don’t play games so battery easily last me 2 days or even more. In iOS the standby time is amazing. If I sleep at 40% battery and wake up in the morning then the battery is still 40%. That’s why apple devices doesn’t perform that well in battery tests on YouTube but provides better battery life in real world usage where mostly our phones are idle.

iPhone 8 or 8 plus: definitely 8 plus, don’t even think about it, I was planning to buy 8 because it is handy but with 8 plus you get a lot more like dual camera, better battery and full hd display and this year the price difference between the Normal and plus model is only 9k so go with plus and you won’t regret.

Storage: I thought 64gb won’t be sufficient but I was wrong. Due to new file system by apple the image size have been significantly reduced so 64 gb is more than sufficient for most users.

Speakers: this is the primary reason I like 8 plus better than other iPhones. Speakers this year are really loud and clear. I don’t feel the need to connect headphones or external speakers when I am using YouTube etc. the sound is sufficiently loud if you are in a quiet room, best in any smartphone according to me.

Fast charger not included in the box but I charge it with 10w iPad charger and it does 0-80% in 1 hour so not bad. (Yes you can safely use iPad charger, it’s even mentioned on apple website)

Thank you Amazon for providing a sweet exchange deal on pre-order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Upgrading from iPhone 6 Plus!! Must Read

Upgrading from an iPhone 6 Plus! Lots of change but no change :-)

I use my phone primarily for work with apps like. Intercom, Stripe, Slack, Banking, Mail etc etc. Occasionally like to play games and am a huge fan of photography with a Nikon D7000 DSLR and range of lenses. This phone is the closest thing to replacing my DSLR and MacBook at the same time.

Pros
1. Super fast. Multitasking is now a breeze with so much RAM and excellent RAM management.
2. Amazing screen even though it's not OLED. True tone must be experienced to know how good it is.
3. Best camera. Nearly as good as my Nikon D7000 DSLR for photos that can be easily shared.
4. Siri, 3D touch etc etc are all welcoming since I am upgrading after 4.5 years.
5. Battery life is awesome and goes for 2 days without a charge.
6. Video recording is mind-blowing.
7. Stereo speakers are really good.
8. Fast software updates will ensure I get at least the next 4 releases.
9. The glass back feels very premium in the hand.
10. Portrait shots with the blurred background simply amazing for shots that you want to put on social media. Don't expect to print a lifesize poster. For that use a DSLR.

Cons:
1. Dated design.
2. Expensive.
3. No Dual Sim. Was never available with Apple.
4. No fast charger.
5. No headphone jack.
6. Need to be extra careful with the all glass design.
7. Portrait lighting is a joke and needs a major update.
8. No 2K resolution or 18:9 aspect. But iOS apps do tend to look better than Android and the screen seems to accommodate more content at times due to iOS app designs.

4.0 out of 5 stars 6 Months Later - An Infrequent Phone Buyer's Review
Reviewed in India on March 26, 2018
Verified Purchase
An iphone, especially the latest iphone, isn't something most of us buy without putting a lot of thought into it, and here's my review about whether or not it lived up to my expectations. I'm not from a tech background, thought I am a tech enthusiast, so I'm going to list the aspects that are most important to me as a non-technical tech person. With each category, I am listing one or more key questions that I want answers to when choosing a phone, and that I hope will be instrumental in helping you obtain clarity with making a decision regarding this phone.

1. CONSISTENCY - I live in the city, and as much for safety as for convenience, it's very important for me that my phone not get hanged at crucial moments, like when I need to make emergency phone calls, or when I'm navigating using maps. So, my key questions for this aspect is:

Does it make calls quickly and efficiently when I need it to?
-Yes, about 90% of the time. 3 times in 6 months, it rebooted on its own, and once it got hanged badly enough that I had to restart it. Compared to all of the other phones I have handled, that's by far the best performance.

Do Google maps work seamlessly, even with low battery?
-Yes, even when battery goes down to 2%. With other apps being used, the phone can handle this effortlessly.

Battery life - Lasts all day, sometimes upto 24 hours with making calls, messaging, taking photos, and navigating.

My Rating: 9/10

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. CAMERA - In a cinch, it's instagram-worthy, not DSLR level. Takes good natural light photos, but there isn't much clarity when zooming in, even with the secondary camera. The camera of Samsung galaxy note 8 is better by comparison.

Key Questions:

Are photos good enough for social media purposes?
-Yes

Are they good enough for documenting important memories?
-Not for me.

My Rating: 7/10

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. OVERALL USER-EXPERIENCE - Great.

Key Question: Is it fun using the phone?
-Yes, definitely.

9/10

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MY SOLUTIONS TO SOME COMMON PROBLEMS WITH THIS PHONE:

1. The glass back - This was my biggest worry, but I solved it by purchasing a rose-gold spigen phone case. It's preserved the look of the phone, has been no inconvenience in terms of charging or button-press, and has provided good protection. Here's the link to the cover I have:
Spigen Ultra Hybrid 2 Case for iPhone 7 Plus (2016) / iPhone 8 Plus (2017) - Rose Crystal 043CS21136

2. The size - I'm switching from a Nexus 6 to this, so this isn't really a concern for me. I find it quite easy to operate with one hand, and the large display is definitely a worthwhile tradeoff.

3. Price - I like to use phones for a long period of time, so I prefer to invest in a good one rather than switch every so often.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're looking to buy an iphone, this is clearly the best one available right now. The 256 GB model has been found to have slightly better performance compared to the 64 GB variant.

If you're undecided between the 7 or 7 plus and the 8 plus, I would say, go for this one because it's better value for money. The next one will come out soon and you don't want to waste your money on a phone that is that much closer to being obsolete.

If you're undecided between the 8 and the 8 plus, I would say go for this one unless you really, vehemently dislike the size from personal experience, because a few people I know who never thought they'd be ok with larger size phones actually ended up finding it pretty easy to use.

If you're undecided between a similar tier Android phone and this one, it depends on your usage, because an iphone doesn't have some important features, including my personal complaint - App store. Google Play store has far more variety of free apps. Most iphone apps have some important features paid, and that's been a major inconvenience to me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're wondering whether it's worthwhile spending this much money on a phone, ask yourself this:

Is it very important to you for it to function correctly, without lag or without getting hanged, any time and every time?
-If yes, then go for this one. If no, you could probably find a cheaper alternative.

A word of caution when it comes to buying this phone on Amazon: You can't return this phone. If you need a replacement, they will schedule a home visit to verify.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you found my review helpful in making your decision, I would really appreciate it if you let me know by giving it a thumbs up. If you have any questions, please ask me by commenting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes the Brand consciousness is complete foolishness.

Honest Review after 6 months using of iPhone 8 plus, Sometimes the Brand Consciousness is complete foolishness.

1. Front portrait camera not works.
2. Photos quality at night is not good
3. Most of the time the touch id & Pass-code does not respond.
4. Mobile gets hang once the memory storage gets full and also heats.
5. User friendly and use to access of apps like excel and documents having so much inconvenience to open and analysis data tools and formulas, There is no option for search in pdf files or in page.
6. Sri can not do all the things as "ok google" can. google can access everything by voice order but iPhone can not.
7. Battery efficiently is very low.

8. The most worst experience with apple and amazon was when I ordered it on emi but it was not set to emi, I have to pay about 60k to pay emi afterward I ordered it. Everyone in this world playing for business only, especially so called giant companies.

9. Android is far better than iPhone in terms of to access so many essential apps and having easy way to operate.

10. Apple just focuses to acquire revenue (loot) from each customer for every single thing we use in iPhone nothing else. Sony and Samsung are far better in providing better services.

11. Without pay money you can not even listen songs, you have to pay to download but why? We people are becoming brand conscious sick, and ready to pay any amount for temporary liabilities. My suggestion is do not become foolish by assuming that iPhone having a prime status. it is nothing but illusion of mind.

12. Apple makings fool people by not giving good quality accessories. Again saying, Sony and Samsung are far better.

13. Camera quality in shadows not that good as it expected after paid 60k
14. Apple Maps does not have all landmarks and "point of interest" as google have. Often You can not find your required location information you wanted to visit.
15. Unnecessary red alright messages on settings are that annoys you most, gives by iphone is -"your memory gets full please buy extra space on iphone cloud per month Rs, 75 for 50 gb? what the hell? but why do I buy memory after paid 60k rather than I can use google drive or personal chip. This is so stupid.

16. Apples focus is to generate revenue nothing else.

If apple claims for data security so we are living is dark side of illusion.

iPhone 8 Plus
I have given one star less only because of the packaging quality of the product. I remember when my friend ordered a kindle it came with a box in which 10 kindles can accommodate. I have ordered a phone worth 70k and it came like Amazon was doing cost cutting on carton boxes.

Now about the phone
Pros:
Looks:
1. I know looks are subjective but personally I think it looks stunning with glass at the back. Gives u a premium phone feeling when you take it to your hand.

2. Camera:
which I have observed is camera is little better than iPhone 7 Plus so clearly it’s cannot be an updgrade from iPhone 7 Plus. I have added some pictures may not be great as I am ameture in photography but camera is capable of giving amazing pictures.
3. Fingerprint scanner:
It’s fast enough may not be the fastest not because of the sensor just because of the the animation comes when u try to unlock it.
4. Screen:
1080p display nothing great but true tone display really helps you not to strain ur eyes even if you use it for longer duration.
5. Processor:
A11 bionic may be the fastest processor in the world now as per a channel in YouTube called android authority Apple is 2 years ahead of chip technology. So it’s way better than snapdragon 835.
6. Good that it supports fast charging
7. Wireless charging
8. Ear piece and one of the speaker grill at the bottom of the device works as stereo speakers. The sound quality is better than previous iteration.
9. Battery life is way better than other phones with higher capacity batteries.
10. It does not heat up at all when we use high capacity games or apps.
11. Memory management of the phone is awesome.
12. Lightening quick when you switch between apps.

Cons:
1. Expensive
2. Too heavy 202gms
3. As it comes with glass back you cannot take a chance to use it without back cover and tempered glass for front screen and that adds some more weight.
4. It’s so heavy that u cannot talk over the phone holding it for more than 15-20 mins you have to use ear phones.
5. Fast charger or adapter is not included. You have to buy it separately which will cost you around 5k and with that you have to buy USB type c to lightening connector which will cost you again roughly 2-3k.
6. Wireless charging pad are not even available will be available in 2018 as per Apple which was a dumb move from them.
7. Normally it charges very slow. It takes around 3-4 hours for full charging starting from 1%.

Overall I will rate this iPhone 4 stars out of 5 as it does not include fast charging adapter. This was the biggest disappointment for me. Even if I know it’s capable of fast charging I cannot charge it fast out of the box. Overall I liked it but the features it offered Apple could have made the price little aggressive but I think it sensed the pixel 2 and pixel 2 Xl prices so priced this product like this.

2. Camera:
which I have observed is camera is little better than iPhone 7 Plus so clearly it’s cannot be an updgrade from iPhone 7 Plus.
