I just got it today, so I can't really say there's anything I don't like - if something comes up, over time, I will update this review. OK - there is one thing I don't love - the color options. Black is fine, but seriously, there need to be more options. Blue is an option, but it's a weird blue. You can also 'customize' your case, but the options there are, in my opinion, pretty childish. Smartish - please make some more adult options available. Afterall, adults are the ones who typically carry plastic and need/want a case in which to carry it.

I am not a reviewer - most items are 'meh' anyway, so there's no point in reviewing. I will, however, review this item, because I literally spent HOURS looking for one that met my specs, and this is the only one, out of hundreds that I reviewed, that met all of my requirements (except color).

- I still like it, even after I received it and put it on my phone, so that's promising, as I am a major returner. If I don't like it, it goes straight back. This will not go back.
- I like that it's a pretty slim case, even with the addition of the card pocket.
- I am right-handed, so I am able to push the card(s) out, from left to right, which makes access easier than some other cases.
- The card pocket is a little tight, but I imagine it will loosen up, over time. I also don't want my cards falling out, so too tight is better than too loose.
- The card pocket is plastic (or something synthetic), so a PopSocket will stick, and a PopSocket is a must for me.
- The sides of the case are textured, for a good grip
- There is a little lip around the screen of the phone, so I think it may offer decent phone protection as well
- It's reasonably priced

Smartish - offer more colors, and adult options. Otherwise, great case, imho.

I bought this for my iPhone XS Max five years ago (I had to look it up to give this review). It protected my phone so well that I ended up keeping the phone years longer than I’ve ever been able to keep another cell phone. It also kept two credit cards and my driver’s license in order that entire time. With multiple overseas trips as well as a several month long dirt-bagging adventures; hiking, skiing, mountain biking etc….I feel like I put this through the wringer. I finally cracked a corner of the case a couple weeks ago. It has served me better than any other case I’ve ever used. Totally impressed. Thanks much for making a great product!

Very durable, stylish, useful, and works for wireless charging

I love wallet phone cases because it’s easy to make quick trips out and not have to carry a big wallet or purse just to hit the grocery store or run an errand. I’ve tried a few different brands because I like to switch it up when one gets old. So far I’ve had this case for a couple of months and it’s great. I had originally seen this one but didn’t buy it because I found another that had a little more space for cash and a little change pouch. But I received a wireless car phone charger and the bulkier case I had didn’t work with it. This one is skinny enough to work for wireless charging, even with three cards in it. It’s sleek, it’s durable (I’ve dropped it a few times already and no scratches), and it’s cute. I even keep it in my back pocket every time I’m not using my phone and it hasn’t faded or gotten that dirty look to it like some cases do when they rub off on jeans. Plus the little gimmick of being able to use it as a stand by sticking your card in the slit is useful. Sitting on your lunch break and want to watch some videos? Bam, now you can prop it up.

Great case, but the Vol. 1 version is better

I used the Vol. 1 style on my iPhone 7 for years and absolutely loved it. After upgrading to the iPhone XS, I didn't hesitate to get another Silk case, and when I noticed an upgraded Vol. 2 version, I bought it with no hesitation. After having used it for a week or so, I can safely say it was a good purchase... despite some flaws.

Here are some quick thoughts on the case:

* Compared to Vol. 1, the wallet function doesn't work as well. The Vol. 1 version is a big chunk of plastic that allows you to slide your cards in and out really easily. Vol. 2 changes it up by making the cardholder a leather-esque sleeve. It's also a little recessed, which allows the overall case to be thinner, but it makes it harder to take out cards as easily.
* The buttons aren't as tactile. The first version of this case had nice clicky buttons that went over the iPhone's controls and were satisfying to push. This case's side buttons are a bit mushy feeling.
* It's a bit more expensive (I paid $23 for the case, the original version was $15).

Those are the issues I have with the case. Despite these flaws, I still love the case - it's significantly thinner, lighter, and more comfortable to hold than the prior model. It also looks much better and much more professional. It works as advertised as well - wireless charging works well (as long as you don't have one of those newer metal cards), but the wireless charging is also really dependant on the charger. Some of the cheaper $5 QI chargers have trouble making a connection to charge, but other premium chargers (the ones that have multiple charge zones) work great.

Overall, it's a good case. Stylish, functional, and protective - three essential traits for any phone case, and this does all three reasonably well. If I could rewind the clock, I might have just gone with Vol. 1 again, but overall I'm still happy with this case.

My Favoritest Case

I've had this case on my iPhone X since December 2017 (2.5yrs)! Longest I've ever had a single case. I usually swap them out after awhile to a new art style on the back or a new phone entirely.

I've dropped my phone a few times and there has been no damage to my iPhone X! Sometimes the occasional "throw phone onto soft bed" but then it bounces, hits wall and falls behind the bed...
Please note that I have had a tempered glass screen saver on my phone as well. The screen savers have cracked but the phone itself has no damage!

This case has been my favorite out of all phone cases I have used, ever! Which has been since the late 2000s. I love the low profile and feel. Not having to carry a wallet is amazing!

I had my doubts with a wallet case, because I've heard of the wallet part stretching out and cards falling out. I have only been storing 2 cards and a few bills inside the case, between the case and phone. I do feel that if I had 3 cards, it would stretch a little and if you ever went back to two, they'd fall out. My cards sometimes fall out when it's been dropped or I only have 1 card.
I'm sort of a minimalist... So, I don't need several cards, just a credit/debit card and my ID. Don't need a lot of cash on me, just a few bills for emergencies when a card won't work.

By far the best case I've ever had!

Perfect for commuters

I commute in New York City and the one time I didn't put my metro/monthly LIRR ticket in my wallet, it slid out my pocket and onto the subway at some stop. I tossed up the various combinations of buying a lanyard- but then unable to swipe at the subway, not buying anything- risking a repeat of losing the card, and ID badge and lanyard- having to always take it out of the sleeve to swipe; ultimately I landed on a wallet case but then ran through so many brands (brand-name, no-name, and luxury brands). At the end of the day, this case was a winner. It had the relief of durability as my previous otterbox symmetry case, the style of some of these $70+ cases and it did not add any bulk to fit the cards within like a speck case. I bought the Smartish Prop Tart - Slim Fit Collapsible Loop & Kickstand [Grip for All iPhone & Android Phones] - Black Tie Affair also to stick on just for comfort and to stand my phone up on its side, but the case does feature a slot to put a card in to stand your phone up in landscape mode. Very pleased with this case-the look and feel of it is very nice, too, and I keep my commuter card and one credit and one debit card inside and (knock on wood) zero issues or hiccups.

I have had this case for almost two years, and it has protected my iPhone so well. Despite so many drops and a few cracked screens (the screen protectors I got didn't work as well as this case), the body of my iPhone is in pristine condition and this case looks like it hasn't been used. No fading, the design hasn't rubbed off at all, and it still holds my cards (granted, I put in way more cards than it calls for, but as long as I keep it full, they all stay perfectly intact). I upgraded recently to the iPhone 12 Pro Max and only chose that phone AFTER I found there was a Smartish wallet case available for it. It's a custom-designed version, so I'm still waiting on it to arrive, but if it's anything like this one, I know I'll be using it for years to come! 10/10 would buy again and give it as a gift to everyone I know. I've never had a case this good. I never used a wallet case before this one, and now I don't know how I ever lived without it! I swear I am getting absolutely nothing for this review. I ordered this product as I was always having to dig past multiple layers of clothing to get to my wallet (I’m a year-round, motorcycle commuter, so if you have a few layers on to keep warm/dry, getting to stuff can be a real pain). I’m also a minimalist, so if more can be done with less, I’m usually open to trying it out. I’ve carried a wallet for over thirty years, so it’s been a novelty to be without it.

I kinda love this thing. I carry my ID and my debit card and that’s it. I don’t carry a wallet anymore.

As for features, I didn’t use the screen protector that came with it, but the case itself has solid construction, is thin as hell (you probably won’t notice your phone has gotten a little thicker as it comfortable to hold and didn’t significantly increase its proportions) and it holds my two cards comfortably. You could probably wedge a third in, but two fits comfortably.

I was worried about a card falling out and even after dropping this thing, they stayed in place. Been carrying it a few weeks now and I am wondering why I waited so long to switch over. Super convenient for me!

I’ve had the original case made by Silk, it was better. Original case I’ve been using on my XR for at least 5 years. I needed to replace my case because with time it had a few cracks. Old case covered cards and kept them out of sight, this case cards stick out and do not slide out as well. I feel like my card is on display and I have to struggle getting the card out. Case does seem slimmer, but that wasn’t a problem before. I think going back to original thickness would be an improvement. I also believe the price increased quite a bit.

Great case, wrong color

We have gone through at-least 10 of these CM4/Silk 'Wallet Slayer' cases over the years on devices ranging from iPhone 4 all the way up to 8, so I didn't think twice about buying them for our new iPhone Xs and Xr devices. They are great quality, and very easy to hold (more about this later). They can hold up to 3 credit cards without any issue, but if you put in any more it will stretch out the back and then you will have to always keep more than 3 in to avoid any falling out. I am able to wirelessly charge my iPhone Xs (and previously iPhone 8) with the case on, 2 cards in the sleeve (debit and driver's license), and I also typically fold a $20 in half once and put it in-between the case and the phone just to have some cash on me when I need it. It is possible to triple-fold cash in the sleeve, but it interferes with wireless charging and can also stretch out the flap. Adding a 3rd card to the sleeve also interferes with wireless charging, depending on the type of card and how thick it is. For a while, I was also keeping my access badge for work in the sleeve which allowed me to hold the phone up to the card reader instead of wearing a lanyard or leash (this did sometimes try to activate Apple Pay, though lol).

The only problem I have with this latest version are the colors, or lack thereof. Previous versions of this case were available in a wide variety of colors, including a Gunmetal Grey which I prefer, as well as Rose Gold and Teal colors, which my wife really likes. Unfortunately, this time they only offer 3 very basic color options; black, red, and blue. Although the blue appears to be more of a teal shade in the photos, I can assure you that it is just plain blue, as we ordered a second one just to be sure it wasn't a bad one. The materials have also changed, for the better in my opinion, however my wife does not like the 'grippy' feel of the newer ones. Although this may make it easier to hold, it also makes it, well, 'grippy', which she doesn't care for. We also got the red one for our daughter's Red Edition iPhone Xr, which it looks pretty nice on, and we haven't heard any complaints from her. Unfortunately my wife's will have to go back, but the rest of us will likely continue to use these cases for the foreseeable future.
